Woo hoo! STAR WARS DAY!!!

chewie_4th

Whats-a happening my friends?  So as you can imagine, as the resident walking carpet of this site, I’m super stoked for today.  I’ve written about Star Wars Day before so decided today needed to be different. During my Christmas shopping last year tracking down some awesome Jabba the Hutt merchandise for my oldest ewok, I came across a rather sweet Simpsons action figure.  Looking at the beauty, I said to myself, “Self.  Wouldn’t it be cool to give this away to a reader in honor of 2015 being the year the new Star Wars movie is coming out?”  Well, I answered yes and promptly snatched up the figure as the geek store had it priced way cheaper than the one I already own.  Months later, the day has arrived where I finally get to give it away.

So here’s the deal.  In honor of the Star Wars premiere and May the 4th, I am giving away a Mark Hamill action figure from the 25 Greatest Guest Stars line of action figures made by NECA.

Mark Hamill Simpsons Figure

Woo hoo!  Free stuff!  What might make me do something like this?  Well, I’m actually not just a big fan of Star Wars, I’m also an uber fan of the readers who come to the site and really just like to give stuff away.  Also… a new Star Wars movie IS coming out in December and this action figure ties it to The Simpsons quite nicely.  If I had my druthers, I’d talk about Star Wars every day.  I mean c’mon, my blogger handle IS The Wookiee.

BONUS… this contest is easy.  All you have to do is write a comment that is Star Wars related.  Send a funny Star Wars picture in the comments, tell me why you love the epic space opera, share a favorite memory of the movies in your life, write a poem about Jar Jar.  That’s it.  It’s Star Wars Day and we should celebrate the movies. All you have to do is comment with something Wars related.  I’m so looking forward to all your creativity.

Remember photos can easily be shared via Flickr, etc.  Check out this post for help with that.  If you like other sites to share photos, by all means, please do.  Here’s one of my favorite pics I came across recently.

Han & Chewie Blues Brothers

Stories could be as simple as this first time you saw one of the movies, your favorite scene, how much you love Chewbacca, etc.  If I was going to enter, I could write all about cosplaying at the Star Wars Celebration 2015.

I mean, who gets the chance to turn their blog avatar into real life?

You have two days to submit a comment.  I’m sure all of our Imperial lovers out there would remind me that tomorrow is sometimes called Revenge of the Fifth (I think it’s just an excuse to extend the celebration another day lol), so I figure two days is enough time to submit an entry.  Once the contest closes…  we’ll run a randomizer to pick the winner and voila, someone will receive Mark Hamill in all his Simpsons action figure glory to do with as they wish ***.

*** Wookiee not included in prize shipment.***

I’ll apologize in advance but the contest is limited to our U.S. readers as the funds for this are coming out of my own part-time employed, full-time student satchel.  I have to keep the expense manageable and Jebus knows, international shipping can be a nightmare.

Here’s the other legal mumbo jumbo from the Blue-Haired Lawyer.

  1. As a child, when ever i watched star wars i knew i had to be a Jedi. An obsession that grew over the years to mass collecting. Now im 35 and have a son who has been bitten by the Jedi bug as well. We’ve even pulled the wife into all the star wars madness. So much so that last year we tracked down Lando and Chewbacca themselves. We got pics with Billie Dee. https://www.flickr.com/gp/127544592@N08/42We99
May the fourth be with you, always!

  2. Kids-a loving Jar Jar Binks
Me-sa not knowing what to think.
Why not Leia, Luke, or Obi-wan?
They’re so much better than Episode One!
    Seven better not stink.

  3. I am currently in one of the best phases of my life as a geek parent: introducing my eldest to Star Wars. Not only is it an excuse to watch the movies for the umpteenth time, but the conversations I’m having with her are amazing.

The only downside is I have a new arch-nemises: whichever of her classmates spoiled the end of Empire for her.

  4. Star Wars has been a major part of my life. One of my earliest memories is sitting on the floor playing with my Star Wars toys watching the first time it was ever broadcast on tv (which was a huge deal back then). We were lucky enough to own a vcr and I still have my copy of it.

Apparently I saw most of the movies in the drive in with my parents, but I was so young I have no memory of it. My best friend and I planned on seeing all of the Special Edition re-releases in the theatre, but he bailed on for ROTJ. To this day it is the only Star Wars movie I have not seen in theatres and I still haven’t forgiven him.

One of my wife and I’s first dates was to episode I. I was so nervous asking her to go with me, I didn’t want her to know how big a geek I was. Forgetting of course she had seen my bedroom in which every wall was covered in MIMP Star Wars toys.

I took my Goddaughter to see Episode II in the theatre, the first time I ever saw a movie more than once in the theatre. A special memory for me.

I took my son to the 3D release of Episode I in the theatre, the first time he go to see a Star Wars film on the big screen. He loved it.

  5. Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker are in a car accident. Darth Vader dies instantly, and Luke is taken to the nearest hospital. The doctor comes in and exlaims “I can’t operate on this boy.”
    “Why not?” the nurse asks.
“Something, something, something Dark Side.” the doctor responds.

    How does this make sense?

  6. I’m in the UK so I can’t enter, but somewhere there’s a picture of me in full Jedi cosplay, on my knees, with the UK 501st Legion of Stormtroopers all pointing blasters at my head. I went to an event in costume, but was meeting my friends there. Unfortunately I found the Legion first.

I’m loving the wampa hat there. I want one! 😀
