Terwilliger Prize Guide: Act 2, Prize 4…Minimum Security Prison

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s Harvest Time in Springfield and the Terwilliger’s have returned to Springfield to unleash Mutant Vegetables on us!  In the Second Act of the Terwilliger Event you’ll unlock Dr. Terwilliger, find Sideshow Bob & try not to go crazy collecting all sorts of stuff to craft prizes in Springfield!

This Event is broken up into 3 Acts, with each Act containing part of the story.  To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act.  Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event.  For the second Act you’re tasked with collecting Gas Masks!  The fourth Act 2 prize awarded at 4,200 ico_terwilligers_gasmask_lg is the Minimum Security Prison, an all new building for your Springfield.

prison1

So let’s take a closer look at this Prison and just what happens when you unlock it  in your Springfield.

WARNING…Dialogue Spoilers Ahead…

Once you’ve collected 4,200 ico_terwilligers_gasmask_lg  you’ll automatically be awarded the Prison and you’ll see this message popup:

prison2

You’ll have the option to place in Springfield or store it in your inventory.  If you choose to place it, it’s a 24hr Build.  If you choose to store it, you will have to go into your inventory to retrieve it.

prison3

And that’s really it to the fourth prize.  Initially, there’s no questline, no dialogue, nothing telling you to place it in your Springfield to earn more ico_terwilligers_gasmask_lg.  Just win the prize and that’s it.

HOWEVER…..once you unlock Sideshow Bob (at the conclusion of the Act 2 main questline..walkthrough here) you will get a questline that’ll popup telling you to place it.  Here’s the details on the questline:

Again…this will not start until you have unlocked Sideshow Bob

Still Secure
Wiggum starts

Wiggum: Another life sentence for you, Sideshow Bob.  How many have you served now?
Sideshow Bob: Oh, five or six.  I’m always getting out on some technicality, or escaping by swapping faces with someone else.
Wiggum: Well you won’t be escaping this prison, I promise you! Because it’s minimum security, tennis courts, research library, gastro-pub… I wish they’d lock me up in there!
Lou: You just keep doingw hat you’re doing, you’ll be there soon enough, Chief.
Wiggum: Aw thanks, Lou, nice of you to say that.
Place Minimum Security Prison- 24hr Build
Make Sideshow Bob Serve a Life Sentence- 4hrs, Earns $175, 45xp
Sideshow Bob: What, I’m out of prison already?
Wiggum: There are cutbacks.  But don’t worry, we’re still keeping the really dangerous prisoners locked up.  Isn’t that right, Otto, you sacked-out druggo?!

Here are some quick facts about the Prison:

minimumsecurityprisonflipped

Size: 11×10
Conform-O-Meter Impact: Righteousness +10
Where Can I Place It?: Grass/Pavement
Build Time: 24hrs
Payout: $200, 20xp/12hrs
What Does it Do?: Just another building for Springfield, however it will be used by Sideshow Bob in his 4hr task.  So not bad to keep around so you can send SSB on his task there.

What’s Next?
Well there are three prizes after the Prison, Corn, Mutant Seedlings and DNA.  I’m not going to do separate posts about them as it’s pretty basic.  Once you unlock them it will add more Corn and DNA to your Crafting Totals and more Mutant Seeds (ie Jelly Blobs) to your count.  (Remember crafting totals can be found at the top of your event hub…Trophy Icon with the knives bottom right.  The totals will be in the top right of the event hub)

Here’s a quick breakdown…

ico_stor_terwilligers_corn_200 Awarded at 6,000 ico_terwilligers_gasmask_lg.  This will add 200 Corn to your total Corn count (found in the Event Hub).  This is not a tangible item for Springfield, it’s just 200 Corn added to your total on hand.

ico_stor_terwilligers_mutantseed_50 Awarded at 7,800 ico_terwilligers_gasmask_lg.  This will add 50 Mutant Seeds to your total Mutant Seed count.  Mutant Seeds can be left in your neighbors towns and will help you both earn more Corn, DNA and ico_terwilligers_gasmask_lg.  More details on Mutant Seeds can be found in our neighbor breakdown here.  Also note, to leave Mutant Seeds in your neighbors town you’ll want to look for the seed icon in the top right corner of the screen when you visit a neighbor.  Here’s a look at what that icon will look like.

ico_stor_terwilligers_dna_200 Awarded at 11,000 ico_terwilligers_gasmask_lg.  This will add 200 DNA to your total DNA count (found in the Event Hub).  This is not a tangible item for Springfield, it’s just 200 DNA added to your total on hand.

Next Tangible Prize for Springfield…

unlock_robertsr Dr. Robert Terwilliger awarded at 16,050 ico_terwilligers_gasmask_lg.  This will be the next prize we cover in a prize rundown post.

So that my friends is the full breakdown of yet another Prison for Springfield!

What do you think of the Minimum Security Prison?  Have you earned it yet?  Where have you placed it in Springfield?  Thoughts about Corn and DNA being a prize?  How about the event overall?  What are you most looking forward to?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I have a good idea for next updat on tsto. Ok here it is a Lego themed update like the episode

  2. emilyappleton

All I can think of is the fact that my Springfield has half a dozen criminals and three prisons.

  3. Jelly “Bloobs”? I thought Bloobs was that mutant shapeshifter from X-Men…

    • Yes or that thing that happens when I’m doing a million things at the same time and add an extra o to things 😉

      • Oh believe me Alissa, I wasn’t trying to point out a “mistake.” When the first X-Men movie came out I said that Bloobs joke to a friend and he spit out his drink. So thank you for reminding me of a funny moment. 😀

  4. For those that hate another prison, it is easy to place the psychiatrist’s office or another building in front of the prison gate to hide the sign. Then it is simply another house. The only problem is that the drain pipe is not connected to the gutter (both views).

I found it amusing (in a good way) and kind of impressive that you noticed that detail. Of course, now that you’ve pointed it out, it’s gonna bug me every time I look at it! 😛

  5. Dudewheresmyps3

I have experienced a glitch the same as the one with radioactive man’s car, and am now the owner of two minimum security prisons lol.
    Anybody else get this?

  6. Are there no more event tasks after this?
I had Sideshow Bob Meet His Raker and Serve a Life Sentence but after that noting…

  7. Waiting on my Springfield Farmers Market to build!
I’m close to completing Act Two (less than 1000 gas masks to go) and getting Dr. Bob!
    Now to continue the upgrades!

  8. I placed my Minimum Security Prison on a nice patch of green grass with no nuclear waste in the way. 😉

  9. I don’t remember Dr. Terwilliger (M.D., not Ph.D. 😉 ) from the show. IBook wait until the WDTCF post to learn more about that, but, in the meantime, can you just tell me who voiced him?

I should win him tomorrow (a little surprised that it wasn’t today, actually…hate missing that extra day our potential bonuts progress!), and it would be nice if I could “hear” his voice in my head when I read the dialog for him.

    • John Mahoney

      • Ah, I LOVE John Mahoney. That has made me excited for a character I wasn’t previously, even though I know his voice won’t be in the game 🙂

      • Sandra Shill

Oh, perfect! Thanks! (Of course, I realize that he won’t be voiced in the game, but at least now I know how to “hear” him.)

  10. I was getting annoyed with the event. I was beginning to think of it as the upgrade event. I decided to keep upgrading till my research center hit level 20 and my sprayer to 15. I got my sprayer up yesterday and in a couple of hours my research center. I already have over 2000 DNA. Glad I took the time to upgrade, I’m gonna be a crafting fool for the next week!

  11. I’ve got my new prison in my fancy-pants part of town, near the beach, surrounded by tranquil bonsai trees… Springfield’s white collar criminals apparently want to be conveniently close to home when they saunter out and “escape.” 😉
Side note: I bet all 3 of you CRINGE when we get updates these days… I know I do…
Removing the names of who drops seedlings? In my best Moe voice… WHAAAAAAAA??!??
Have an extra margarita and relax before hopping online and seeing everyone’s collective heads explode. 😀

  12. I can’t get sideshow bob. I don’t have krabapple

  13. I will get sideshow bob if I get dr. Robert?

    • You will get Sideshow if you finish the questline and build the Opera House.

      • Well the problem is I can’t finish the quest line. I don’t have krabapple

        • Contact EA, let them know you’re stuck there. But try contacting them via Phone and not chat. And also, if you get overseas phone support, hang up and try again. You want someone in Texas.

  14. cjbrownlv788

Minimum Security Prison – gives Sideshow Bob something to do and you earn Simpsons cash as well as experience points (Freemium fun!) …

Just got Dr. Robert Terwilliger yesterday 🙂

  15. Hi I would like your opinion. I just finished collecting all the Act 2 personal prizes and have the market. I have upgraded to 16/8 marnsano/herbacide. I want the gas and gulp and have enough DNA and GMC to get it but I am wondering if I should wait until Act 3 loads in case there is something else I want or just craft it now? Also have a s-load of fertilizer.

    • Just craft the Gas and Grub. Get it out of your way now, otherwise it’ll be a distraction for Act 3.

There really won’t be any items in Act 3 that will require fertilizer, so if you want something else with Fertilizer get it. And focus your characters on earning Corn and DNA.

  16. I got Sideshow Bob, now I keep tapping on him everytime I see him thinking he’s the conformity bob… blah.. Incidentally, is the random conformity bob now retired??

  17. I just got Dr. Robert! Looking forward to the breakdown on him! I’m assuming his quest didn’t start because I have the starting character busy? also, to anyone still on the fence, just upgrade! Thanks to higher payouts from frink’s herbicide(lvl 15) and character payouts from Monsarno upgrades(lvl 17), I’m earning about 4-5k fertilizer/day and have DNA flying in too. I haven’t crafted anything yet, but will easily be able to craft everything I want with time to spare!

  18. I love that the front gates are open, swinging lazily back and forth, haha.

  19. I know this is off subject but figure newest post to ask. I finally got the market a few days back and got 100 gas masks for unlocking it. I thought I read somewhere that you got 200? I could be wrong

  20. I’m really glad that I went ahead and upgraded instead of holding out till I had enough fertilizer for the farmers market. I was able to upgrade to level 15 and today I crafted the FM. What I wish I would have done was saved my donuts and not purchased any corn.. boy was that a waste.

    • argcallie427

I guess it didn’t matter much what we did first as I crafted the Farmers’ Market that last day of Act 1 so I was behind on upgrades. Today I got the Herbiside to level 15 and Monsarno to level 17. I’m hoping to get the Gas n Grub over the weekend.

  21. Im close to the last prize💃

  22. Now I know why the educational system is so poor in Springfield. I have 2 schools (which only one gets any use by students) and 3 prisons. Maybe they are planning ahead as I am sure most of the students are looking at prison time.

  23. moviebuff3000

Almost close to getting Dr. Bob. I thought I would have him before SSB but it didn’t happen how I planned it. 🙂
