Terwilliger Guide to Crafting: Act Two Crafting

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s Terwilliger time in TSTO!  Yes, the Terwilliger’s are back and they’re set on making not only the Simpson’s lives a nightmare, but ours as well!  Mutant Veggies, Bob Clones, Jelly Blobs, upgrades and CRAFTING!  Ahhh!

I know many of you are panicking about crafting and just how you’ll earn enough Fertilizer, DNA and Corn to get everything.  Well don’t worry, we’re here to break it all down for you.  And I promise, it’s not as much of a nightmare as you might think it is.  Just pace yourself, and remember it won’t happen overnight.

So now let’s breakdown all the fun of Crafting during Act 2…shall we?

monsarno

I’m going to spare you guys from the basics this time around.  We’ve covered this ad nauseam all over the site.  But if you still need them you can check out our Act 1 Guide to crafting Post here.

In this post we’re instead just going to talk about the items added for Act 2, what they do and how they’ll impact your town.  With a few tips and suggestions along the way…

So let’s get started….

A few  general questions….

How Long Do I Have To Craft These Items, Will They Disappear When Act 3 Starts?

The simple answer is…no they will not disappear when Act 3 starts.  Just like the craftables from Act 1 didn’t disappear when Act 2 started, these won’t either.

So don’t stress so much about how long it’s going to take you to craft an item, they’re meant to be long term goals…not something that will happen overnight.  So pace yourself and play at your speed.

It’s Hard Seeing My Fertilizer and Corn go to Upgrading, Should I Upgrade Monsarno or Focus on Crafting?

ico_terwilligers_monsarnoupgrade_md

Again, we’ve talked about this ad nauseam as well.  Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade.  We’ve broken it all down for you in this Monsarno Upgrade Post.

When Should I Stop Upgrading?

You will NOT see a max for upgrading.  So when you stop is up to you.  Personally, I stopped once I hit Level 19.  I’ve unlocked all of the tasks for characters and got the bigger increases on DNA, Corn and Fertilizer.  But where you decide to stop is completely up to you.

What About the Herbicide Squirter?

We’ve covered that here.  Again there is no max on the Squirter so where you decide to stop is up to you.  However, i’d strongly advise against going higher than Level 15…as that’s when the crafting increases will stop.

Note: The Herbicide Squirter DOES NOT increase Gas Mask Payout.  No matter what you do, no matter what level you are the Gas Masks will only payout 3 at a time (from tapping Bob Clones).  So don’t upgrade the Squirter thinking you’ll get more Gas Masks, because you won’t.  It will only crease Corn, Fertilizer and DNA payouts from tapping Bob Clones.  (NOT Mutant Seedlings/Jelly Blobs)

When Does Act 3 Start?

Act 3 starts May 12th

It Costs So Much Fertilizer, DNA and Corn to Get Anything, How Can I Earn More?

ico_terwilligers_upgrade_fertilizer ico_terwilligers_upgrade_corn ico_terwilligers_upgrade_dna

Yes, crafting just about anything in this event seems daunting.  It may feel like you’ll never get there, but remember it’s all a long term goal.  You won’t get there overnight (unless you use donuts), so it’s important to pace yourself.

Currently there are only 4 ways to earn DNA, Corn & Fertilizer.  Sending characters on tasks to earn it, clearing Bob Clones in your town, Completing Cecil’s Daily Tasks & Sending/tapping Mutant Seedlings (Note the Mutant Seedlings only earn DNA and Corn during Act 2).  So if you’re looking for tips to earn more…there really aren’t any.  Just keep sending as many characters as you can out on DNA, Fertilizer and Corn tasks.

So now that more of your common Crafting questions have been answered….let’s take a look at what you can actually craft and the details.

Crafting Item Breakdown: Act 2

For Act Two there are 3 items to craft initially and 2 more added as you level up Monsarno.  Let’s take a look at each item and how it will impact your Springfield..

monsarnowallflipped

Item: Monsarno Flower Wall
Cost:
3,000 ico_terwilligers_fertilizer_lg  1,600 ico_terwilligers_dna_lg
Size:
1×2
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Vanity +5
Can I Craft Multiples:
Yes, Should be at the same crafting rate
Benefit  in Springfield:
Decoration, no added benefit other than looks
Should I Craft?:
This is one I would say if you have an idea for where it should go, craft it.  But the Flower Wall is better if crafted in multiples for certain looks.  I would hold off on crafting this until towards the end of the event.  Since you’ll need multiples.

springfieldbobsignflipped

 Item: Welcome Bob Sign
Cost:
8,250 ico_terwilligers_fertilizer_lg  4,500ico_terwilligers_dna_lg
Size:
1×5
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Vanity +100
Can I Craft Multiples:
Yes, should be at same crafting rate
Benefit  in Springfield:
Just a decoration, no real benefit.
Should I Craft?:
Unless you REALLY want this item, or you have Fertilizer and DNA to burn at the end of the event, this one is a pass for me.  No benefit and doesn’t seem worth the Fertilizer/DNA.

gasandgrubflipped

Item: Gas and Grub
Cost:
8,300 ico_terwilligers_dna_lg  4,600 ico_terwilligers_corn_lg
Size:
5×8

Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Consumerism +10
Can I Craft Multiples:
Yes, should be at same crafting rate.
Benefit  in Springfield:
Will earn you $120,12xp/6hrs.  Plus impacts Consumerism, one of the hardest areas to max out.
Should I Craft?:
Yes, for the consumerism benefit alone.  This building is the only craftable building for Act 2 that’s actually worth the time and effort of grinding out Corn and DNA.  I would aim for this one first before working on any of the side items.  (This can be done in addition to working towards the Farmer’s Market.  You should be able to work towards both at once)

monsarnolibrary

Item: Monsaro Library

None.  It’s just a big decoration.  Will not earn you cash/xp, it’ll just sit there.
Should I Craft?:
No.  You’re awarded one for free once you level up Monsarno to Level 12.  And the free one should be plenty for your Springfield.  Don’t waste your Corn/DNA on this one.

And that my friends covers all the details of crafting during Act 2!

Remember, crafting is meant to be a long term goal, so take your time.  Don’t feel like you need to craft everything overnight, because you won’t.  It’ll take some time to achieve all your crafting goals, so be patient.  And remember…don’t use donuts to rush crafting!  It’s just not worth it.  Save those sprinkles for something more important down the road.

  1. What are the odds of crafting items being offered for donuts after the event ends? I really want the Welcome sign, but I’m trying to craft a second Gas and Grub for the consumerism points, and I’ll be about 2700 DNA short of doing both. (So much extra in everything else, but so behind in DNA!) If it’s a 50-50 shot, I’ll craft one and hold off on the other, but if the chances of items being offered for donuts is slim to none, I’m actually going to flip a coin, as I want them both equally.
Love that we had a SSB event, but can’t WAIT for this frakkin’ crafting to be over!

    • It’s possible. I don’t know if it’ll be immediately after the event though, could be a bit down the road…

      • Thanks, Alissa! I’ve only been playing since the tail end of Halloween 2014, so I didn’t really have an idea of how common it is for that to happen. 🙂
