Turbo Tappin’ Level 53: The Return of Martha Quimby

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Level 53 hit our tappin’ devices earlier today and with it arrives Martha Quimby!  I guess Mayor Quimby’s days of running around with Miss. Springfield are numbered….

So now that there’s a new Level in our tapping devices, you know what that means right?  Time for another Turbo Tappin!  So with that let’s jump right in and Turbo Tap the Main Questline (Freemium) of Level 53!

  1. Why won’t it register thst I’ve upgraded my pool on “Higher Class of Politics Pt. 3?” i now have 4 pools sll at level 3, but it still says i need to upgrade it, and sends me to buy another one :/ any help? Because I’m confused here.

  2. So I finally got this. I placed the pool and upgraded. Twice. But the upgrade didn’t register. When I click on the do it button it takes me to the store to buy it. Anyone else have this problem? 😾

  3. I put spiffany right next to the Quimby mansion. Martha goes into it in my town while shopping. Vulgari is across town and she might not make it there in eight hours. She is also by gold navy and she might go in there. Move your buildings close to her house and see.

    Expatrie-

  4. Nice – I got the “Higher Class of Politics pt. 1” quest, but I can’t build Spiffany’s because I’m still at level 52.

  5. My thoughts:

I am a disappointed that there is SO MUCH MORE Premium content vs. Freemium. They usually try to balance it, but not this time at all.

Also, I do not like the new idea (pool and money mtn) of paying to mindlessly upgrade an item with no benefits (money, tasks, etc.). Just a new money sink, like the new level quest buildings are meant to be.

Lastly, for the love of all that is holy RELEASE MORE LAND EA! lol
I only have one empty square of land.

  6. Are Friends able to upgrade a pool? I was doing my friends actions and I tapped on the “modern pool” and it asked to upgrade to level 1 for 10,000. i thought what the heck, let’s give them a treat. it’s a pool with water slides and a red and white beach umbrella. my game crashed shortly after visiting that friends town. but i’m back in it now and see it asking to upgrade again for level 2 at 20k. i haven’t started level 53 in any of my towns yet so i don’t have a pool of my own to try this out. can anyone else confirm?

  7. *sigh* blindingly upgrading the pool, not because I really want to nor care about the look but just to get rid of that taunting Upgade Arrow. the fact it doesn’t even earn money, experiance nor percentage points and being taunted to upgrade it without any true benefit. I’m hoping this (with the money mountain) doesn’t continue as a trend,

I know it sounds stupid but after it is fully upgraded I wish you could change the “skin” of it whenever you want, Like I’m able to do with the Radioactive Man Monument. I change up my R.M. monument to communicate to another player (a code we have) and if I can alter more items in that fashion I can communicate a bit more Plus I like some of the Money Mountain looks a bit better than the Bobo Final Level.

  8. I think it’s hilarious that Mr Teeny is considered an “elite Springfielder” in part three of the higher class of politics. 😅

  9. Not to be chauvinist, but has anyone noticed that only two females – Mindy and Selma (?) laze about (tan and sleep on a bench) while Brockman, Homer, Grandpa Abe, Dr. Robert, Freddie Quimby, Judge Snyder, Chambers, Roger Meyers, and Zutroy lounge about while Radiation Man reads a paper and Dr Marvin works on his couch. Looks like Springfield men know how to relax better than its women. Perhaps EA needs to create a better image for its female players as female characters are more likely to smoke, nastily, while Meyers enjoys his cigar. Its great that they have more female characters now, but how they are portrayed is also important.

    • That’s because the rest of them are stuck at home with the kids and cooking dinner while the Men are “Relaxing”. 😛

      • Agreed. But do we want to perpetuate that ‘ideal’?

      • I was thinking last night that there is a big difference between the TV series and the game. In the series, the wisest person is Marge. There are some smart/intelligent men, but still have not thought of a wise one yet. The other women are made glamorous/sexy/hot so that they can pose as a serious threat to Marge through the temptation of Homer, but Marge always wins not because she is smart or sexy, but because she is good and worthy of love. This is a very positive image of women and no doubt part of the reason the TV series has been so successful. In the TV series, a person’s faults are a background. Barney, for example, is a drunk, but that is only incidental because what he really is is a very loyal friend and an uninhibited voice of truth. But in the game, the faults have become the substance of the character. So 4 of Barney’s 6 tasks are alcoholism related, one is eating, and one is working. Friendship is gone. And this also applies to the female characters. Take Francesca. I bought her and I like the way she is drawn, but the tasks are either Italian ‘peasant stereotypes’ or hate related aside from the self-indulgence of having her hair done, something I doubt she would do judging from her hairstyle and her ‘peasant’ background. Instead of stomping grapes, why could she not have enjoyed a glass of vino at Luigi’s? Training a goat is kid’s work. Why could she not have spent the time fixing a fantastic meal for Bob? Loyalty to and love of Bob are her main characteristics in the TV series, but they are totally missing here. Why couldn’t there be a task of Francesca and Bob taking a stole or watching a sunset together? These things would have created a better impression of both women and Italians. In the TV episode, good things are shown about Italy, but those have been lost in the Game where Italy is just another loser country. EA certainly has the creative right to pick what characters join the game, but I think the customer, i.e. the players, have the right to demand EA be faithful to the TV series and its positive image of people instead of putting people and peoples down. There is no reason EA cannot change established character tasks even now, but until there is pressure to do so, why should they.

    • All I can say to you is that if people rely on a video game to display moral values and truly authentic humanity without there own common sense and personal reality experiences (family, cultured television, even farcical culturalism presented on the actual television show of the Simpsons) than something is greatly wrong with what is happening here. You make valid points (though as a nerd I need to point out that Lisa is as wise if not wiser than Marge is). Speaking for myself I blindingly send characters on timed missions and I don’t care whether they are hugging a family member or torturing little animals, to me it’s just a fun little relaxing game where I can be reminded of some of the classic and humorous moments from the show. I mean no disrespect to you or your view points but I felt a little counter balance was in order. Again you bring up some good points and maybe you can contact EA about them and lastly: I Like your icon, to me it looks like a light green frog upside down on a dark green background 🙂 (I think it’s cute – just saying)

      • Actually it is a ‘moustache’ snail, Megalobulimus oblongus. Cute little things. Would love to get a M. Maximus or popelairianus, but I need to modify my snailery first as it is now too cold. Favourite is still albino Lissachatina reticulata.
Such things are always up for debate, which is what I was hoping to start. Being right or wrong is not all that important. For adults, images are not that important, but I suspect a large number of adolescents play this game. For them, these images contribute to their worldview. Thinking that is it ‘normal’ for women to work all the time, terrible when they smoke, and all right for men to be lazy and smoke is not a good image to create in their heads and it is not what the TV series is about. One has to wonder if Matt Groening is aware of this distortion or if he sees the TV series as the distortion. It would be interesting to hear his views on the subject. Anyone have a chance of actually reaching him?

    • mrharley20595

I read through your comments and felt the need to reply. While I can appreciate your various opinions and character reviews, I hope you don’t lose sight of the format in which you choose to bring up these issues. This is a wonderful, inappropriate and hilarious game meant only to bring humor and relaxation to our lives, not to teach morals, vaules and true cultural experiences to the masses. We love The Simpsons and TSTO mostly because of all the backwards characters, tasks and dialogue are so entertaining. It wouldn’t be the comedy giant it is without this format. I do agree with you about the need for positive role models and cultural portrayals in our society, but this hardly seems the place to look for that guidance or to appeal for change. If you are interested, I would be happy to recommend several other areas where your views and suggestions would be more appropriate, and might possibly have the impact you desire.

      • Not entirely sure of what you mean by other areas, but fire away. While I can mostly ignore the images I do not like in the game so that they do not detract that much and I agree that making everything ‘moral’ is a silly idea, it is odd how things stick in people’s heads. For example, there was an article in the Guardian a month or so ago about how girls in the UK are having trouble finding ‘normal’ boyfriends as so many boys want to just act out porn scenes. I do not see how calling Francesca’s task ‘walking a goat’ is any less (or more) funny than ‘training a goat’. Rev. Lovejoy and Mr Burns walk their dogs. Why are the men allowed to relax, but Francesca has to work? And then women wonder why husbands do not want to help around the house. It is little things like this. Here girls have to take care of the house after school while boys are told to go out to play. Then the women, who are generally very responsible, complain that they cannot find a serious man who wants to accept responsibility. But are they willing to make the boys start shouldering responsibility? No. Changing the task names is very doable in this game; so why not make at least that small step?

      • If, perchance, you meant that I should go into politics or religion, then I have not communicated my point. People can take care of themselves. But there are players who want to recreate the TV series look in their Springfield. For example, they do not buy or use anything not shown in Springfield at some time. Some discrepancies, like proportion, are simply annoyances and easily seen, although sometimes hard to work around. Moral values are not something everyone will notice for themselves, but it affects satisfaction with the game and can implant harmful images in young people. Therefore I brought it up as it is the first step in dissipating the harm. Would you react so lightly to the harm if ISIS values of violence were being imparted to players instead of disrespect for women? And I use that example because it is the positive portrayal of ISIS in Facebook contacts that is causing vulnerable teenagers to go to Syria to fight for ‘Islam’. There is a book by a French journalist coming out about this recruitment method and her experience of it. Very, very scary.

    • Great analysis, I totally agree (especially about the essential difference in focus between the series and the game). I agree with what others have replied too, but quite clearly, most of those stereotypes could be revised and challenged without losing any sense of humor (the series is proof of that). Not sure how much would come out of bringing these issues to EA’s attention, but if you start a petition, I’ll sign it 😛

For the record, I don’t think Marge is pictured as being all that wise in the show either, and definitely not as wise as Lisa. To me Marge is portrayed as a naive slovenly housewife without much goals of her own (she did study art, but what did she do with it? It’s not like she has a great aesthetic sense either) and a slight tendency to buy into other’s ideas. This is also a stereotype, and I was upset with it in at least two episodes that I can remember: the one where the family moves to – is it Shelbyville? – and everything in the new house is so automated that Marge becomes bored because she can’t think of anything else to do with her life; and the one where she snitches on Homer for showing illegally downloaded movies in their backyard (naively convinced, without putting any critical thought into it, that it’s the “right” thing to do and that no harm could come out of it) and gets him sued. But I figure this particular stereotype must be so prominent in American society that she couldn’t really be made much smarter or independent without sacrificing some of the potential for social critique.

      • Thanks for the support. No idea how to start a petition. Apparently not much interest from most readers or the moderators here, who do have their hands full as it is so I can understand reluctance to start more work and then too they do not knowingly have EA’s ear, so not much hope of accomplishing anything. But perhaps this little dialogue will get the right person thinking and one day …

All of the characters are flawed. I agree that Marge vacillates between being Homer stupid and being wise. Bothers me sometimes as well. I do make a distinction between smart and wise. Marge was supposed to be smart in school like Artie Ziff, but perhaps being a woman was sidelined to ‘traditional’ domestic duties. (I myself think that those ‘domestic duties’ are critical for the well-being of our children and have nothing to do with gender, i.e. men are just as important in giving children the skills and confidence to make it in the world. So I would see staying at home as a sign of wisdom.) But if not her wisdom, what is it that brings Homer back? She is middle aged, unlike her competitors. Homer does not respect intelligence. Marge loves Homer but she is not a doormat; she does not beg him to come home. The only thing I can see is that she has the wisdom to make the relationship work. I cannot think of any episodes where Lisa makes a romantic relationship work. Usually adult Lisa is very depressing, even if she is wildly successful outside the home.
As to a Lisa discrepancy, she is supposed to be Buddhist but enjoys the violence of Itchy and Scratchy. (One of the main tenets of Buddhism is to do no harm.) I have never understood the humour in having a girl enjoying violence, but no one catches every joke. And EA questlines have her way stupider than the series, but then EA seems to think stupid is funny.

  10. lplibrarian11

Does anyone use Spiffianys after the dialogue? Also, the Malibu Stacy house, is it just a decor?

  11. Help ! Martha Quimby doesn’t want to start part 2 Higher class of politics. I already tried storing her building and bringing it back out again but that didn’t start the quest.

  12. Random question: When you store a building and a character to get someone free to continue with a limited time quest, do they start like you just unlocked them, i.e. appear last in the character locate scrolling?

    • No they should go right back to where they were

    • It depends. If you store the building they are in, they stay where they are in the list. If you store the building they came with, it will shift them to the end of the list. I purposely do that to make sure characters are available for other character’s dual tasks. For example I moved Marge later so that she is after Artie and then he can propose.)

  13. Well I’m just reached Level 39,and guess who was in the Level Up screen?
It was Mayor Quimby with thumbs up, and he said:
Thirty-nine levels and no Martha Quimby, thank you!

  14. Will the pool be used by anyone? Quimby and Miss Springfield? 🙂

  15. As much as I am thankful there is at least one new Freemium Character and Building with this new Level? I join my fellow long term Tappers who agree that part of the solution – with regards to running out of space – could easily be solved by allowing more Buildings and Decor to be placed in Krustyland from Sprinvfield!

I will definitely need more land by Level 54 / 55 (meanwhile back to making Mrs Quimby strut her stuff) 😉

    • The simpler solution would be to reduce the amount of allowed buildings. If EA was to prohibit blue house farming, there would be no need for more land. Let’s say building limit was 150, then one would be forced to decide what to place, and what not. No additional land required, no more users complaining about too much money (like me; have about 40 million extra). Two problems solved by a simple solution.

      • They did try to control it by the increased pricing. However, I will tell you I’m not a house farmer, never have..and never will be. But I’ve been playing since December 2012 and I’m running out of land…

      • When everyone is at level 52, it is easy waiting for level 53. When you are at level 38 and everyone is at level 52, it is very frustrating. There is a lack of everything, in-game currency, donuts, land (because you have to keep buying buildings and then all the event extras), income generators, etc. You end up keeping every character on set hour tasks whether you like them or not to generate as much currency as possible. And this goes on for month after month, like an endless Terwilliger event. A house farm allows newer players to generate currency and enjoy the characters without stressing out. Of course, it does mean they can go through 50+ levels a lot faster, but who wants to play a game where they can never catch up. Once there are enough regular buildings to generate currency, the house farm can easily go. The real problem is that Springfield is an American city where everyone lives in a detached house with plenty of land (and chores like cutting the grass). Many European cities like Paris are much more compact. What you enjoy from above (Tapped Out view) are the rooftops, not the ground. Perhaps EA is trying to show Americans that they have to change their lifestyle as compact cities are the way of the future for ecological reasons (more farmland, less commuting, etc.) Of course, if this were a real US city, we would currently have enough land to place about 7 mansions with their grounds. Oddly new Other Springfield, while they do have 4 buildings per ‘block’ where the US would have 10-12 in two rows, they have far too few buildings for anyone to actually generate enough currency to play the game. Therefore, it sets a totally unrealistic image of an ideal Springfield. Perhaps they are using cloaking technology captured from the Klingons to hide the other buildings?

  16. Nothing started up for me, is that cause I need to do the lunch lady quest? My slaughterhouse is built but nothing else has triggered for that quest line. What am I missing?

    • Could be. You need skinner free for part 2 of Dora.

      • Thanks! He was hiding in K-land. Once I got him over that kicked off the next part of the quest line and that triggered the new one to start too. Then visitng neighbors I got THREE donuts! Woo Hoo! EA knows I want all of the Malibu Stacey goods. 😃

        • hahaha very nice!

Still going to email you about the game…I think we’re still trying to figure out what we’re doing lol

  17. Ha! I love that the “Make Miss Springfield Enjoy an Evening with the Mayor” with Quimby task is only 3 minutes long. I wonder what they’re doing…

I don’t have her in my town but I’m considering getting her (that is, the motel) just for that.

  18. Umm I know this is going to sound crazy… But somehow the game is eating my money… I had over $3 million this morning and I bought Spiffys or w/e so I should have had around $2 million left, give or take. Somehow I managed to dwindle down to $800,000 and then I didn’t spend any money and now I’m down to $700,000. Please tell me what’s going on. I’m not crazy.. This is actually happening to me. I worked hard to get that money and was saving it up now it’s just disappearing. I had a ton of jobs that just paid me, but instead I ended up with less money than what I had when I bought the building this morning.

    • I might not be crazy but I am an idiot! Haha I figured it out.. It’s the money mountain eating my money! Haha oops 🙂

  19. Random trivia question (my online search went no where on this, including Wiki): What is the name of the female socialite that says “Well, I Never!!” – I’m pretty sure the name was given in the same episode Mr. Moneybags (from monopoly) stole her away from Mr. Burns. (Jeopardy music plays)

    • Mrs. Vanderbilt? Is that the one you mean? She usually is in a hat and has those hand held eyeglasses. Kind of an uppity type of nose and attitude.

      • Well, I NEVER thought anybody would get that right! But I’m sorry you didn’t answer in a form of a question… Actually, with the question mark, I guess you did.
I searched via the name provided and yes, that confirms it. I just wanted to say that now that we are bringing in more wealthy and proper female characters into the game she would be a great addition.
I was originally thinking of offering the person whom answered correctly a slot to become a new neighbor but I’m certain you’re already spoken for :p
Thank you for the answer and always all your great work Bunny. 🙂

        • Pssssh. You are talking about the Addict that invented “Where Did THAT Come From” Posts. 😉

I figured you meant her. That catch line makes me think of an Aunt I have that dresses like her. Older style glasses and all. Lol.

You are welcome to add either of my towns if you’d like. My A game was blown up and slowly being reconstructed. A few areas in progress as we speak. My B game is used more for the testing of the game, but it will soon be blown up again too for my 2D & 3D playground to start up again. 😉

      • I don’t know either your A game or B game names (I only can add origin users though). Also I doubt you can publicly say what they are on here or you’ll be bombarded with requests. I am **** on origin and only have the one game so I guess you can friend me and thus not announcing it in public. Also for security reasons you can just delete this whole reply and nones the wiser (that’s ok by me, as long as it doesn’t banish me from the site or anything).
Also which ever game you grant me the privilege to neighbor up to, you’ll have to play daily. that’s why I have a free space now :p
This seems so secret, underground and taboo “I’m not worthy”.

End transmission… No wait. Like I said, you don’t have to tell me or even post this. It might all go to my head and feel like I’m in the inner circle :p

What ever you do is cool by me (again unless you don’t play daily which again I assume you do).

Ok, again. Whatever you wanna do or not do. … It’s all gooooood (can’t you tell I’m not freaking out and being cool with your offer) :p

        • Lol. I will be going through the list emailed to us to interchange a few new players. Will add you to the list. 😉

Mine will be pretty obvious, you should know the names. 😉

Please email me a reminder if you do not see it by this weekend. (I tend to get sidetracked. I wonder why? Lol)

  20. Do u need miss Springfield and when does the quest start cuse i got brockman out in the quest has not poped up any answe.

    • You don’t need Miss. Springfield. Brockman will kick it off as long as you’re on Level 53 and have built the Springfield Slaughter House and unlocked Lunch Lady Dora

  21. Won’t be getting Spiffany’s for a while since I’ve been putting all my money into the mountain lately, guess I’ll have to put that on the back burner until I get this quest line finished up!

  22. As always, thank you for the walkthrough. I don`t know how any of us would play well without your help. It seems I have so many questlines to catch up on I forgot who is having a conversation with who about what. LOL!

  23. Only in Springfield would a monkey and a guy dressed like a bumblebee be considered part of the “elite class”!

    Gotta love this game!!!!!

  24. What quests does she do when the quest line is done

  25. Oddly she was on my list of characters that I thought should be in the game probably mainly for the line used in the Burlesque House song (Spring in Springfield) which begs the question when will we see the Burlesque house – Many guys anxiously awaiting (maybe a future event?)
She wasn’t on my top five but I’ll do a quick reminder of what my top 5 are: #1. (Full Character) Maggie – I mean come on already!!!!
#2. Raphael (the sarcastic guy) #3. Lynal Hutz (if that happens that opens the door for Troy McClure too) #4. Julio (you know, the openly gay guy) and #5. Rabbi Krustofski (though I am not Jewish and aware the character is dead, I think he’ll add a better sense of diversity).
So I can’t complain, or just don’t want to since the event that shall not be named is over – Judge Snyder adds it to his list of things that should not be spoken of under penalty of torture.
    :p

    • I like the idea of the Burlesque House, it was a nice older building, which we don’t have many of in the game. It could provide tasks for Belle(assuming she would come with it), Bart and the men of Springfield. I also agree with those characters, I would love to have Lionel Hutz in particular. I was talking about that with my brother actually, we have been watching loads of the old episodes and I miss characters like him, he was great and I would love to have him. He seems to have been replaced by Gil as the Simpson’s lawyer. He could have lots of tasks relating to legal cases from the episodes or other things that he did, and then Troy could have his different acting jobs. So many possibilities for older characters to appear.

      • I think when Phil Hartman died they retired Troy and Lionel out of respect, so I doubt we would ever see them in the game. If Marcia Wallace had died earlier than she did, I don’t think we would ever had had Mrs K either.

      • Nicola, sorry this is meant to be a reply to you but it won’t let me post one for some reason, the option isn’t there. I never realised it was him that voiced them, I can see why they wouldn’t be added. It would be weird to have them revived in the game. Well thanks for clarifying/explaining that. I know that there was a problem with FGTQFS recently as the original Star Trek characters had sound clips, but they were then rerecorded by different people and replaced them, which seemed disrespectful in some ways as those actors had died.

    • John the toy store owner was openly gay as well. From the episode where Homer thought Bart was turning gay…..zzzzaapp!

  26. moviebuff3000

The return of Martha Quimby? I didn’t know she was gone before anyways. 😉

  27. I was hopeful they would have added land when I saw this update. Not to beat a dead horse but as a premium player I’m already storing major items & have no room for anything else barring major consolidation removal of roads etc to the point it will look like urban decay. I’d need 3 strips just to add the crafting items stored from the superheros & monsarno events. Which leads me to ask of EA if they want to add all this content why not add a relatively comparable plots of land. It is starting to take some of the joy out when I’m more concerned whether I can fit new quest items let alone premium items I’ll let pass with no room to place them.
    Missed Opportunity EA
This is Kent Brockman with My 2 cents 😉

    • Totally agree! I am running out of room like so many other players. Really wish there was more land or more things could be placed in Krustyland

      • Being able to transfer some things in our Springfield over to Krustyland could help several problems. Things like Death Mountain, the Radioactive Man Statue, Barbarian Castle etc. could fit well into a theme park setting, and at the same time free up a lot of space in our towns to play with. At the same time it wouldn`t hurt to breath a little life into Krustyland and give us a reason to actually go there once in awhile. I have played for years and have not bothered with it at all. How ironic that it has so much land and not enough to play with… Or at least that is why I have not bothered. And the price of new land does not have to be off the charts. Perhaps just a gift from SkyFinger might just work well.
