Due to POPULAR request….we’ve moving up our open thread time so that our friends outside of the US can participate too! Let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Now…enough rambling from me….it IS Sunday and you know what that means, right? Time for another Open Thread!

I have just signed up for Google opinion rewards and had enough credit for my first Golden Scratchy … thank goodness I waited to do it until after the season finale of GOT last night in the UK. I won 50 doughnuts … I mean it didn’t quite make up for the devastation that I felt (am still feeling) but it helped.
To those of you who bought a few items during Gil’s Deal… Did you place them all at once or a you going through the related questlines one at a time?
I’m going more to the latter, so I don’t run out of stuff to do and get bored (and to kind of make it feel like I really gotten my donuts worth by having it last longer). Also, this way, I figure that if a big event does hit, I won’t have several other questlines competing against it.
On the other hand, I know I’m losing out on the money and XP I copied be earning with those items that I have sitting in storage….
At any rate, it’s always interesting finding out how different, and how similar, we all are, so I thought I’d put this out there! 🙂

Has anyone else noticed that Scratchy’s Flea Dipper now spins all the time? I think it only used to spin when it was actually being used. Mine isn’t being used at all but it is always spinning.

Hi all happy tappers! Since things are quiet in our game is there a possibility that one of you can do a new “how to” build bridges, & place lights around water! I so want the lights in my town!!! I tried going through old how to but I keep getting error not found.
Maybe the nre tappers can benefit from this as well as computer challenged tappers!

Ah I know what happened…when we ported sites some images got lost from stuff we posted when we first started (not cool). We’re working on revamping some posts now to go over some basics like building bridges and progression through levels etc. Since the posts are older and sometimes get lost in the shuffle. 🙂
So look for those soon…in addition to some more design posts 🙂
Am I the only one who doesn’t get upset about graffiti? I think it’s hilarious actually. It is very Simpsons. El Barto rulz! Lol. Spray paint my town all day if you want. So far my training walls are enough to keep my 5 stars but if it slipped I can accept the little drop in my star rating. I understand most people don’t like it (so you don’t have to explain) but does anyone else get a kick out of it like I do?

When I was a low level player, I used to get upset when people *didn’t* graffiti my buildings, because I really needed the income from them! I still think it’s kinda cute (except the Moe’s one – too ugly), but I don’t really care strongly either way.

I was just looking at TSTO in the Google play store and was wondering is that really EA’s hint at was is coming next? Or is that just a teaser filler until they post a true hint later? I’ve never paid any attention to it before so I don’t know if they ever post hints ahead of an event.

Anyone know what villain they are referring to?….I can’t think. And is that related to the murder reference? ?
If it is a teaser it has me scratching my head.
When the superhero event ended I remember them hinting there would be another one coming and there was reference to the crab man who is a villain so maybe it’s to do with that?! But then again would they really do another superhero event this year?! Also if spider pig is going to be in the new series it’s a good excuse for another superheroes event maybe?!
Yeah, I thought another superhero event would be odd but with the return of Spider Pig….hmmm….

My wife, daughter and I started playing at the end of April when we got back from Universal Florida. We weren’t aware of the app until we did the photos on the Simpson’s couch! We’ll are freemium and I’ve been saving my donuts and am trying to figure out what to get. I’m level 24 and I’ve got around 85 and was thinking of saving to 120 for Otto and his bus. After more thought though it would appear to me that the more premium characters the better. I was wondering if I’d just be better off getting Hans Moleman for 60 and the French Waiter for 50. I believe they are the cheapest premium characters available to me as I already got Squeaky Voice Teen (and Blue Haired Lawyer) through the Mystery Box. I just noticed Bumblebee Man is available to me at 60 also so if just characters is the way to go who of those three would you recommend first? Or is their someone else I should consider saving up for? Thanks!
Honestly, I’d keep saving and wait and see if they release someone for a limited-time. Sometimes they’ll release a requested character as part of an event for a limited-time…i’d hold out for now and see what unfolds…
I’m with Alissa, I’d wait for a limited time premium character, in fact that’s what I’m doing right now. But if you are chomping at the bit (I can sympathize), I’d go for the Coach, Bumblebee man, Doctor Nick, or Luann. (I don’t have them myself yet but those would be my picks.)
just an fyi…. i bought bumblebee man mainly to help me craft in the previous event, but i also thought it was a character i wanted to get eventually anyway. unfortunately, his only two outdoor tasks are way too short for me to ever set (30 and 60 mins), so i rarely see him doing his thing around town. in hindsight, probably woulda rather picked up hans.
Otto was my first premium purchase – I just couldn’t imagine Springfield without him and his bus. Of the stand-alone characters you’re considering, the only one I have is Bumblebee Man – I love his voiced lines and it’s nice to add the sound of another language in the game. I seem to remember that the questline was fun, too!

Does anyone know if I download the Amazon app on my Android device and then download TSTO again, would I be starting a whole new game? And would I then have the Amazon one as well as the Android one on my device? Those Amazon coin deals are too good to pass up?
As long as you have an origin account you can always log into your origin account from any device that has TSTO. So no…just log into your game and you’ll bring up your game on the Amazon device.

Hypothetical question in that case, right now I’m using Google Play for purchases. If I switch devices someday and its not a google play tablet, could I then switch to Amazon or whatever, or would I still have to buy Google Play cards?
Nope. You buy for whatever device you’re on. If it’s iOS it’s Apple Cards, if it’s Kindle it’s Amazon Cards and so on. Whatever device you’re buying donuts on that’s what you’d buy for…
Just a clarification (in case you didn’t know this)… If you’re playing on a Kindle and you want to make an IAP, you first have to buy Amazon coins (which you can pay for by whatever method you have in your Amazon account – credit/debit card, gift card balance, direct withdrawal from a bank account, etc). It’s a clunky procedure, BUT, the upside is that Amazon coins are always sold at a discount (the bigger the batch of coins you buy, the bigger the discount). A downside is that the coins are only good for game and digital music type purchases only – you can’t buy regular Amazon stuff with them or convert them back to cash, so you don’t want to overbuy.
In the UK it is different. I have a Kindle and if I want make an in app purchase I can use Amazon coins or I can use the ‘1 click’ setting which is linked to my Amazon account and credit card details. You don’t get the discount though an every little helps!

I just bought 360 donuts for a net cost of $17.75. What I did was to buy two sets of 1,000 coins @ $9.50 each, total $19. Then I bought the truckload of donuts (300) for $19.99. I got back a rebate of 500 coins, with which I bought a box of donuts (60), which then gave me a rebate of 125 coins (worth $1.25), which I’ll keep on account for future purchases.
The net effect was that I bought donuts for close to what the per donut cost is for a boatload of donuts, but without having to spend $100 at a whack! Now, of course, if you did want to buy a boatload, it would only cost you a net of 65!!!!! ($90 for 10,000 coins, 2500 coins ($25) back.)
I always buy my donuts on my Kindle, and then switch over to spend them on my nice big iPad. 😉
It just occurred to me that I could have used 99 of the leftover coins to get a Golden Scratch-R, for a minimum of another 6 donuts and a return of another 25 coins, for a total of 51 coins remaining…more than halfway there to another Golden Scratch-R! Guess I’ll save that to have something to look forward to down the road…

I’ve placed my cooling towers in such a way that the smoke blows across the McBain film set. Adds a little more atmosphere to his film shoot.
mine gives a similar effect in front of the republican party hq. +1 for the random design tidbit.

I myself have been a little lax in checking in/visiting friends recently.. as much as I love this game, the break has been kinda nice!
IRL, I am babysitting my niece right now because today is her 1st birthday, as well as her father’s bday, so I came over to hang out with Clio while my sister and her hubby are seeing Belle and Sebastian live at this new venue in DC… I think being an aunt is the best job EVER! I get to play with the cutest kid on earth and then when she gets tired/cranky/wet she goes right back to her parents! Lol. (Mostly) kidding of course! I love that little kid something fierce!
All that being said, when the next event drops I’ll be ON it. Bring on Dr. Crab! 🙂
Has anyone else noticed that Sideshow Bob still appears in the ‘Other Springfield’ & needs to be tapped? Or is it just in my Other Springfield? Would have thought ea at least would have managed to get him during the Terwilliger event….
It just happened to me. I tapped him. Reading some older articles I take it that this was a common thing in the past. (Probably why people wished for the Terwilliger event.)
Does anyone else wish for a do-over with the Futurama cross over in the game? I enjoy the character/building adds the game has made (Sideshow Bob and family were long overdue), but I just feel like they missed the boat with Futurama.
I think having playable characters and questlines for the Professor, Bender, and Zap Branigan would have made my entire life.
Sorry for my cross-posting, but I’m running out of time and I need to know…. When the Springfielders “get down at the Anvil,” is that a visible task? Can I actually see them all dancing? If I can see them all dancing and keep that task by not finishing the questline, I’m pretty sure I’m gonna cave and get the Steel Mill.

All of the lights flash blue/red/yellow and there are random shadows of peoples outlines (not moving) in a couple of the lower windows. I do like the look of the flashing lights in every window 🙂
Ive managed to keep up the 4hr premium payout for every character that can do the task for about 4 days now! Almost $50K earnt per 4 hrs for little effort.
In this down time I’m spending it on KrustyLand. If I blow up KrustyLand it won’t blow up Springfield too will it?

100 for Akria/Happy Sumo
140 for Lurleen/BeerNBrawl (Note: I do have the Open Air Stage)
160 for Uter/Hungry Hun
180 for Jessica/Lovejoy Residence (Note: I do have the Jed Statue)
If you had to rank these four, what would those rankings be?

I think his outside tasks are dull, his sayings are just mutterings that don’t entertain, and the bonsais are not the draw you think they might be. Just my opinion, of course.

I like the design of the Beer-N-Brawl and it fits nicely with the bars, strip club etc. But Lurleen’s tasks are not exciting and she’s not voiced. I really only bought it for the aesthetics of the building.

2. uter and the hungry hun
3. lurleen lumpkin and the beer n brawl
4. jessica lovejoy and the lovejoy residence
I think I’d rank them pretty much as you have.
None are big draws, so would go for donut value on the character and building combo.
That being said, Uter probably has the best tasks visually.

I play the game with out spending money (for fear of my wife’s wrath) so I have to save donuts for purchases. I just got the happy sumo and need a new target. I am debating between the Krusty land studios (for Penelope’s 12 hour task) or Rancho relaxo. Which would you advise I target first?
I can only give my comment on KrustyLou Studios/Sideshow Mel…
I purchased it over a year ago with a Gil deal for the Studio/Dr. Nick/a Cannon. I spent a few bucks then, but now I’m definitely freemium.
I’ve enjoyed having it in my town; I’ve put it “studio” city with Chanel 6, McBain’s film set, the Writers room, and Itchy/Scratchy Studios.
Krusty and Penelope can also use the Studio.
Mel has a lot of good outside tasks in juggling and de-boning his hair (the Cannon is funny, but it’s a 30 min task, I don’t think you *need* to have it; I don’t use it often since I don’t do the short tasks), and Mel can go to Krustyland. Mel can also sing on the Open Air Stage if you ever get that.
I don’t think you’d regret the Studios.

Probably Krustylu, because then you get Penelope’s task and Sideshow Mel.
I like Sideshow Mel, I don’t have the cannon but he has lots of outside tasks that are funny. Haven’t regretted buying him for a minute.
So was just wondering, the xp you get for a building normally depends on the cost of the building. For example a building costing roughly 100 000 gives 10 000 xp, one that costs 260 000 gives 26 000 xp. So for the buildings that currently fall into the multiplier tiers, if it costs say 1 200 000, will you get 120 000 xp? Or do you get the xp that goes with the base price of that building. I’m asking now cos I’ve just hit level 50, but I’ve refrained from building anything that is still within the tiers as I’m not in too much of a rush. But I’m wondering if they will help me out with the xp to level up since it’s nearly 500 000 xp to reach level 51 lol.
My experience has been that your XP is 1/10th of what you pay for it.
The plus side in waiting to purchase is the lower cost

The newest building always gives me a pile of xp. Not sure if it scales with the price multiplier,but I am max level as of now. You could drop blood mobiles instead then sell them to convert xp. The expensive (stock blue, orange, white) houses DO NOT SCALE, their xp for making them is static.

Am I the only one who wishes TSTO had a donut storage where you could keep them but not see them? I have a hard time saving donuts when I know I have them and the premium items are so easy to buy! 🙁
Lol – that reminds me of the way I used to play Monopoly. I’d always store some of my cash under the board as my kind of “emergency fund.”
Something that will never happen unfortunately as EA would, rightfully, want you to continue to spend. Same reason there aren’t mass character releases. Lots of little (or big) spends are better for their coffers.
I have about half a boatload left and will keep solely for characters. Have made the mistake of splurging on deco in the past, which I am guessing is your potential dilemna.
Yup, I foolishly bought more premium decorations than I should have. I found this site too late to save me from buying those darn funzos lol. Also got a few vehicles, but at least those have bonuses attached to them.
I planned to save up and buy a boatload but I noticed that when I buy in Canadian dollars it is actually cheaper to buy 2 stores full.
What you said makes sense. Releasing things slowly ensures people will spend.
