Looks like we’ve got ourselves a little in-game update for donuts to keep us busy over the weekend!
When you start up your Springfield you’ll see our good friend Gil’s back…and this time with an end of school promotion for us all.
As always more details as we go through them….details of what Gil has in store for us below…
Just a thought…usually updates like this make me think that EA’s biding time because they’re working on something else. Especially because this offer is only for the weekend, it makes me think we’ll see something much bigger early next week. So try not to get discouraged with this little update…since everything costs donuts. I think we’ll see bigger and better things next week 🙂
As mentioned above when you first start up your Springfield you’ll see Gil hanging around again.
He’s got some Gil deals he’s offering up this weekend and here’s what you’ll see when you tap on him:
Gil: Aw, school’s almost out for the summer. That means greedy little teenagers taking all the choice summer jobs away from the hardworking Gils of the world! Why can’t they just leave my job at Kinko’s alone!? Oh, who am I kidding? They know way more about the print and copy business than I ever will. Unless…. I make some sales using one of those Preferred Buyer programs to reimburse some donuts. That should keep those kids distracted for a few days while I learn how to print double-sided coil bind!

snagged shauna and the aztec theater this morning, and intend to pick up the duff stadium tomorrow. while kamp krusty is tempting, it’s still 130 for a building+skin combo. when i compare this to what i paid for the iconic/epic/classic bartman skin and his cave (60 + 55 = 115), there’s just no way i can justify kamp krusty, regardless of the original cost. besides, i already have a campground in my town that i built from scratch, and it arguably looks better than kamp krusty… 😉
and it was tough to resist, but i passed on jimbo last night. i know it was the “best deal” at half off, but 60 donuts should really be his regular cost anyway. i’m more into buildings than i am characters, and since my donut count is getting low, i decided to save them for other buildings or building+character combos. here’s to hoping they add him as another prize in the revamped mystery boxes at some point in the future (that’s the only reason i have kearney)!
If we ever get Gil, he had better be voiced because I laugh every time he says: Duhhh’I’lll work for food!
If I buy Kearney tomorrow for a net of 40 donuts and then get him in a mystery box I assume at some point I will still get the donut rebate for having him? I wonder if the box will rebate the whole 60 if so making his net cost 20?

Got Jimbo and Shauna, 1 donut away from being able to get Aztec theatre. I take it as a sign that I should save the rest of my donuts (I don’t really care for buildings anyway, I much prefer characters).
Anyone want to talk me into/out of getting SequelStop? So far I’ve seen a few comments that it does nothing and nobody interacts with it, so it’s sounding like a pass. But I thought I’d ask the lovely Addicts community in general for your opinion.
The animation is really cool but you will basically never see it. For a free prize it’s good but I would not spend donuts on it personally.

As a freebie? Sure, why not. It works next to Android’s Dungeon. It has a screen that lights up. Woohoo. I got it for free during the Christmas 2014 event, and even THEN it was lackluster.

I got it last Christmas and I’d definitely say it’s a pass. It’s not the most exciting looking building and no one interacts with it. It’s got a big TV on the top of it which you would thing would animate when tapped but ta, nothin! I’d say hard pass lol.
Completed my Toughie’s with Shauna (TY EA for heeding our post Valentine’s Day angst for not re-releasing her, I suppose end-of-school could have been the plan all along) and picked up Fort Sensible. Pretty much have everything else. I like the dimension that balloons bring to the town but it’s crude and *insert Burn’s voice here ‘I think I’ll be happier WITH the 95 donuts’
I am having the same problem, but not with Jimbo, with Otto. This is my first ever donut purchase, and if this is how it is going to go, then I am not sure I want to keep playing this game. Not a good experience, that is for sure.

I’m currently playing freemium as money’s a bit tight at the moment, but I’m usually a premium player, and out of 20+ premium purchases, I think I’ve only had this problem once. Most problems I’ve encountered have been event-related issues, and I’d chalk this one up into that category, since it’s a Gil mini-event. And yes, I have been ready to throw my phone out of frustration sometimes, but no, I never do it and I just remind myself of all the times I DIDN’T get glitches. 😉
In short, I hope this doesn’t discourage you from buying items you want in the future, because there’s some AWESOME stuff that’s only available for donuts!

Happy with this little event. Nabbed Jimbo yesterday (already have Otto from last year’s back to school sale), Shauna and the Aztec today (already have Sequel Stop — one of the best animations in the game that you almost never get to see). And I think that will do it for me.
I already have a premium skin for Bart (Bartman was a must buy) and Kamp Krusty is a bit expensive for my taste even with the rebate. I don’t have Duffman and have no real use for the stadium. I’m still slightly considering the Skinner balloon but I have a feeling I’m going to pass at 95 donuts — I could buy the rocket engine bike and hell float for 70 donuts to net more than twice the bonus % (4.5% combined vs 2% for Skinner) if I really want a boost.
Wow. I already posted earlier about issue with Shauna. I chatted and was told they escalated and it would take a few days. Problem is a few days pass and all my deals are gone. So I called and spoke to someone. Same thing. He reassured just keep playing when resolved they will just return doughnuts. Well I did. Bought more doughnuts…got shauna. Yay! All is well again until I get Aztec theater….glitch again!!!! Is this only me. Should I stay indoors today? Lol. Hope everyone makes out ok. And thanks for this amazing website. You guys are ROCK!
As a freemium player I’m all about these rebate deals. The last one happened shortly after I started playing, and I’m pretty sure that’s how I got Otto (if I’m remembering correctly). I had been saving up for Barney, but then decided to wait to see if any rebate deals came up. I got up to 360 donuts, bought Brandine last week, and now I’m going to get Jimbo, Shauna, Aztec, and Duff Stadium. I should have 33 donuts at the end of this. Barney will have to wait.
Freemium player here too. Trying to save for Barney also, but had to get Brandine and Shauna. At this rate not sure if I’ll ever get Barney.

I’m with you, Brooders!! I suddenly developed adult-onset allergies to wheat and dairy (really???? I mean, REALLY?!?! BLARGH!!!), so my grocery bills have more than doubled. My little bit of TSTO money is non-existent now, lol. Glad for a Gil sale, but struggling to make decisions with the few precious sprinklies I’ve got! 😉

Finally bought Otto and the school bus right before Gil’s deal ended. It was difficult for me as it was my first donut purchase as a freemium player. However, Otto was one of my top three choices and in the end it was a good deal at a net cost of 90 sprinkles.

All the bldgs & Otto’s bus are pretty pointless since THERE IS NO NEW LAND to put them on. A lot of us have been complaining for some weeks about this. Why buy it if you have nowhere to place it???? I had to stuff Spiffany’s somewhere stupid just to fit it in & continue the quest. Would like to place it curbside & build new roads but that would require some land.
The Skinner butt balloon is tempting & shouldn’t take up much space. I can put it in my “junk drawer” strip of odds & ends decorations.

Ahhhh! I just bought the Aztec two weeks ago after holding out forever! SVT not having a 4 hour task was making me nuts. But I am absolutely getting whatever else I don’t have, which for me includes Jimbo, Shauna, Fort Sensible, Camp Krusty, Duff Stadium and Big Butt Skinner.
That was my thinking too. I got both the Aztec and Shauna. But Shauna doesn’t have a 4 hour task either, so I now have the same number of characters with no 4 hour task as before. Sigh.
Broken all my rules and bought three premium scratch cards which netted 30 donuts. Gives me enough for Otto and the Aztec Theatre. Don’t really begrudge EA a bit of money for a game that gives me so much fun. Luanne will have to wait a bit longer…!

First of all Congrats on getting Jumbo.
You will never see better deals then this. Yes all items are normal donut prices, but you get donuts back. Unless EA does something crazy for xmas but I doubt it. Also I would go for Shauna and the fort sensible since they hardly get re-relased. Kamp Krusty is expensive, but you get Kamp Krusty bart skin, Kamp Krusty (which pays out $500 a day) and a really long and fun questline. Duff Stadium is not really worth it but it’s the only way to get Duff man so I say yes. On top of that you get donuts back so yes it’s worth it. It all comes down to you making the choice. Just remember about the timers
Duff stadium doesn’t give you Duff Man, the brewery does. I think he has a task at the stadium though if you have him.
Duffman has a 2 hour task flying with a jetpack over the Duff Stadium, which is still very cool after the time I have him.
And it’s great, the stadium animates with the jumbotron and he flies back and forth over it in a jet pack. If you don’t have Duffman I guess it would just be a big decoration
Ummm…. I don’t think you get Duffman with the stadium, only worth the brewery. But I’d love it if you were right, because I don’t have Duffman and I am planning to get the stadium!

Duff Stadium has a nice payout but not all task are permanent…only Duffman task is permanent and it’s only one..
Bought jumbo first. Then decided to get otto after all. Since I started playing in December, otto was the one I said I would defo get.
I kind of regretted jumbo after I got him as it’s just a character and I really want combo’s but it was a good deal that’s what I keep telling myself.
so next release came out, bought shauna sInce when I unlock dolph I will have a full set (wasn’t really important to me but cursing EA for jimbo offer so was logical choice). Bought aztec also. Hoping I will grow to like it 🙂
Still unsure for the next releases though… duff stadium seems such a waste since I don’t have duff man and I’m still leveling and don’t have all the land yet so I’m thinking that I should pass this time. Kamp krusty I love seeing in people’s town and I know where I will put it in my town, but I just feel as if it’s too much even with the discount. Thinking on passing on it also and maybe if I’m playing next year maybe it will reappear as a deal and I can justify the spend then.
So donuts back down below 200 so think I will wait for a little for an event etc.
WHY SHAUNA and AZTEC THEATRE are still LOCKED, and this deal is over in 6 hours?? I’m at 53 level and completed all the task. PLEASE HELP! I REALLY wanted to buy them, after I got Jimbo.

Had 200 donuts saved up, got Otto. Still gona get 5 from Data’s tasks. Wanna know of I should get Aztrc or save for something cooler like from 4th July? Which I’m keen for. Thing is I used to want Aztec bad, but not so much I mean I’d live to put it in its glorified place in my town but it raises obedience not consumerism in any case. Opinion? Would it possibly be subject to another deal in future?
Right now I have 95 donuts available. I almost bought Bumblebee Man a couple days ago, but decided to hold off until after July 4th, just in case something came along. Glad I did. My plan right now is to get the Aztec Theater, which after the rebate will leave me with 40 donuts. Think I’ll hold onto those for a while. (If I had enough to get Otto and the school bus, I would do that first.)
Is there any reason to be excited about getting Shauna other than that she’s a limited-time character? It seems like people really want her because she’s usually impossible to get, but I don’t hear a lot of people saying WHY they want her (other than to complete their bullies collection).
I’m not being critical here – I’m asking because I’m trying to decide whether to get her and I don’t necessarily care that much about completing a set…I want characters who have something to offer on their own. The ducklings task sounds fun, but, on the negative side, the fact that she has neither a 1-hour nor a 4-hour task could really drive me crazy! (Does she have either length task if I have a certain building, like Helen Lovejoy does if you have Shorty’s?
Let’s see… She’s female (which I usually wouldn’t care about so much, but in TSTO there aren’t that many female characters), she dresses up for halloween (I love watching the kids trick and treat), she has a questline that seems fun and yes, I like completing sets. Those are my reasons, on top of “she’s limited time”. There are lots of limited times characters or buildings I don’t get, but since I wanted her in the first place, her being limited is more of a “do it now while you can if you want her” than “grab her because she’s limited, even if you don’t want her!”
i think the only 4 hr task she has is trick or treating with the nightmare pile, not sure if you ended up picking that up. Pretty lame that she doesn’t have one at the moon bounce though.
As for why… well despite the recent influx of female characters, there are still significantly more males, and i remember several people mentioning that as a reason for wanting her to return this past vday. so in addition to the limited time factor, it could just still be people wanting her for her sex, especially if they weren’t interested in the malibu stacy stuff.
And Helen lovejoy has a 4 hr task at the municipal house of pancakes as well.
Oh yes – I know about Helen’s 4-hour task; it’s a 1-hour task that she’s missing. Once I’m done sending everyone on their 2 4-hour tasks for the day when I’m working, I usually can do a couple of 1-hour tasks before its time to send them all on their 12-hour overnight tasks. But poor Helen just had to get sent to church early, because there’s nothing else for her to do!
But thanks for the thoughts about Shauna, avistew, tape, and toolbox! 🙂 I’ll definitely give them some consideration as I debate with myself about getting her!
(Good to know she doesn’t go on the moon bounce, either….I might have assumed she did as a workaround for the missing 4-hour task and been mighty disappointed to find she didn’t! Oh, and no nightmare pile for me…..WAY too creepy-looking and an indoor item in an outdoor world).
I’ll be getting her in about 8 hours from now. Like you said the hard to get aspect and completion thing but I also think people want her because like the SIB post said “who doesn’t like a bad girl?” – guys want her and some girls relate. For me, it’s mostly has to do with the discount as well as liking her character on The Simpsons (I like the fact she captures the modern slacker generation). But one thing not mentioned in SIB is that she is a Trick-Or-Treater. So those are my reasons. But yeah I didn’t even pay attention to her tasks until you just mentioned them…. Nah, I’ll still get her.

She’s a female, and she’s cool. Also last Halloween her devil costume was awesome so hopefully Halloween this year brings more awesomeness in regards to her. I only use 1hr tasks and 8 hr tasks. I can handle it being a half an hour though, because money isn’t a huge concern so at least I can still collect her hourly.

In my view Shauna’s duck teasing task got old fast. No voice and no other animations unless you have the Nightmare Pile costume task. If I had my time over I’d probably prefer a building instead of Shauna.

OMG, Sandra, thank you SO much! You said/asked everything I wanted to know about getting Shauna, but as English is not my native language, I could never do it without thinking a zillion times and, eventually, I’d end up not asking anything at all here. Thank you! 😀

Don’t let the language barrier get in your way of posting here…there seem to be lots of people who post here for whom English is not their language. Some write in better English than others, but, most of the time, even when the English isn’t great, we can tell what they’re trying to say. And I’m always so impressed by anyone who can learn English – it’s such a difficult language with lots of exceptions such a huge vocabulary!

And actually it’s not the language that gets in my way, it’s my obsession of writing correctly. I just HAVE to look every little doubt that comes up on my English dictionary and/or on the internet; every preposition; when to use a particular word and when not to use it; whether it’s formal, informal, not polite, slang; the differences between American English and British English etc. Of course it’ll never be 100% correct, but I ALWAYS try my best.
You’ll say it’s good, because this way I force myself to learn English, but sometimes I feel like my brain is gonna explode. Interestingly – and luckily! – I don’t have this obsession when it comes to speaking; I just don’t care about my English as long as the other person understands me. The bad thing is that my spoken English is always too informal – I blame it on Friends; there are episodes that I know all the lines by heart!
Your written English is actually WAY better than many native speakers’ – I wish that half the people whose writing I see had your command of grammar, syntax, and punctuation! Part of my job is to be an editor, so I can’t help but see most if the mistakes that people make (although, on a forum like this, I realize that many, if not most, people are posting using a mobile device, and autocorrect often has a mind of its own; plus, the informal nature of posting a comment makes me a lot more “forgiving”).
And don’t worry about being “too informal” – even in business writing (which is what I edit), people took often write in a way too formal, stilted style, which also often leads to misusing words (like saying “utilize” when they really mean “use,” just because it sounds “fancier”).
As you can probably tell, my biggest writing flaw is overly complex sentences…when I’m writing for work, I try to edit them down and break them up, but in a forum like this, I aim to catch my speaking style (which involves using overly complex sentences, lol), so that people can “hear” me as I am, IYKWIM.
I’m excited! This stuff is great! AND, this would be a perfect time for TSTO to start a new event. I need some reliable gaming. 🙂
Shauna was at the top of my wish list and I have been holding onto donuts for over a year to get her. Even though I would like Jimbo I only have 130 donuts and I’ve yet to get a donut prize from Krusty Land so my hopes aren’t all that high.
