Tapped Out Level Walkthroughs: Level 54, Ruth Powers in a Woman’s Work

Level 54 hit our Tapping Devices last week, and with it arrived some more females for our Springfield!  One of these females is Ruth Powers…

While we’ve had the Turbo Tappin’ walkthrough up since the update first hit (you can view it here) I know many of you still love going back and reading old walkthroughs.  They’re great if you missed any of the dialogue while playing the level, or if you just want to know what to expect when you reach Level 54.  So for those that may have missed it (or for those of you that want to live it again)…I bring you all the “girl power” of Level 54…

A Woman’s Work Pt. 1
Lisa starts

Lisa: Mom, you look sad. Maybe you need some friends.
Marge: No, I’m just worried I haven’t totally cleaned the house.  Now I remember: I forgot to vacuum the kitchen sponges.
Lisa: Have you ever considered that you might be displacing your loneliness through chores?
Marge: But I love chores! I wish someone would ask me to vacuum more sponges right now.
Make Marge Vacuum Kitchen Sponges
Lisa: No, don’t make her vacuum any more sponges. Take that down.  We need some place that will attract you a sophisticated woman friend. Maybe an art gallery or a feminist bookstore.

Marge starts

Marge: Ruth, it’s so good to see you again!
Ruth: Thanks, Marge. It’s nice to be back.
Marge: What have you been up to?
Ruth: I spent some time in prison, recovered from a serious battle with alcoholism and became a championship bodybuilder.  What about you?
Marge: Well, let’s see… I got a new iron, and… Did I mention my new iron?
Ruth: Guess it’s been a real crazy time for both of us.
Marge: Would you like to try the iron?
Ruth: Thanks, but what I’d really love right now is a job.
Marge: Maybe you could work at the nuclear plant. As long as you don’t mind that it’s a bit of a boys club.
Ruth: I survived two separate prison riots. I’ll manage.

Homer starts

Homer: Now that Ruth is working at the plant, we’re all going to have to act differently.
Lenny: Here she comes. Make her feel welcome.
Ruth: Hey guys.
Carl: Hey Ruth. We were just talking about how we like fashion, babies, small plate restaurants and Grey’s Anatomy.
Lenny: I love anything Shonda Rhimes does.
Ruth: I don’t really like any of those things, but what I do like is beer. You guys want to join me?
Homer: Okay, so maybe not that different.

Carl: If you’re just like us, maybe all our notions of gender difference are just arbitrary social constructions.
Homer: Yeah, what he said. And you smell better than Lenny.
Ruth: Got my first paycheck today, so the bar tab’s on me!
Lenny: How come your paycheck is lower than ours? We all worked the same hours this week, right?
Carl: It says female discount multiplier: 70%.
Ruth: Wow. That’s not subtle.

A Woman’s Work Pt. 4
Ruth starts

Ruth: Mister Burns? I’m here to talk about my paycheck.  We’re all doing the same work, but the guys all get paid more than me!
Mr. Burns: I see. That’s quite a quandary. By the way, do you happen to see an opening for a trap door anywhere around here?
Ruth: No. Why?
Mr. Burns: No reason. Now could you be a sweetheart and dig a ten-foot pit, disguise it with some banana leaves and then jump in?
Ruth: Why would I do that?
Mr. Burns: You question my orders?! It’s that kind of attitude that gets you paid less than a man. Now get back to work or you’re fired!

After this quest triggers you’ll get a quest called To Catch a Cougar.  This will be started by Dolph.  We’ll cover it below.

Carl starts

Carl: I can’t believe old Burns won’t pay you the same as us.
Ruth: Tell me about it.
Lenny: We should protest. Let’s stage a work slowdown until Burns sets things right!
Homer: I don’t think I can work any slower. I pretty much do nothing as it is.  So instead, I will set up an “Ice Cream Sundae Bar for Gender Equality Awareness”.
Carl: I don’t see how that helps our cause.
Homer: A sundae bar it is!  P.S. You’re all chipping in ten bucks.

Smithers starts

Smithers: Mister Burns, there’s an issue with gender pay inequality. To protest, there has been a work slowdown.  And an “Ice Cream Sundae Bar for Gender Equality Awareness.”
Mr. Burns: Does the sundae bar have sprinkles? 
Smithers: Chocolate and rainbow, sir.
Mr. Burns: They are really playing hardball.
Smithers: If I can speak frankly, I think gender equality could be a step toward the equality of all people…Including those of different sexual orientations, and this world would be a better place to live in.
Mr. Burns: Do they have real hot fudge?
Smithers: Yes.
Mr. Burns: Then I am defeated. Let them have equal pay for women. Start the paperwork.

Smithers starts

Smithers: Congratulations, Ms. Powers, you’re now getting the same standard pay rate as your male co-workers.
Ruth: This is great! Thanks for having my back, guys.
Lenny: Any time, Ruth. We’re all about social change.
Homer: Uhmm guys… they just lowered our pay to match Ruth.
Carl: What?! We need to protest!
Lenny: We already did that. I’m kind of protested out.
Homer: There’s only one thing to do when your paychecks have been drastically cut.

Dolph starts

Dolph: Hey, Jimbo, Laura Powers is back in town. Better get your kissing lips ready!
Jimbo: Whatever. I don’t got time for teenage girls now that I got a job as a gas station attendant.
Dolph: Is that a good place to pick up older women?
Jimbo: They need gas. You have gas. When you give it to them, they feel safe and protected.
Dolph: Wow, you have the sexiest job in the world.
Jimbo: And I get all the free beef jerky I can steal.
Dolph: Whoa, it’s like I’m friends with James Bond.
Build Seething Sisters- $340,000, 24hr Build.

Jimbo: So what’s a woman like you doing at a gas station like this?
Ruth: I need gas.
Jimbo: We all need something, sweetheart.
Ruth: I’m not afraid to pepper spray you.
Jimbo: Bye ma’am.

Jimbo starts

Dolph: Quit hogging all the gas station hotties. Remember what we learned in school about sharing?
Jimbo: No. Besides, you’re not ready for these mature ladies.
Dolph: Come on. Can’t I even have your rejects?
Nelson: Yeah, and I’ll take Dolph’s rejects! Like the one’s with weird butts.
Dolph: What the hell’s a weird butt?
Jimbo: Uh, yeah… I haven’t picked up any rejects yet.
Nelson: Haw haw, you haven’t picked up any women.
Jimbo: Shut up, you guys.
Ruth: Hey guys. Did Jimbo here tell you he tuned my engine like nobody else?
Dolph: Wha-? No way!
Jimbo: Thanks for covering for me, Ruth.
Ruth: No problem. You can make it up to me by tuning the engine on my car for real.
Place Mr. Powers’ Car- $170,000
Make Jimbo Tune Up Ruth’s Car- 8hrs, Earns $420, 105xp

And that concludes the Level 54 questline!

It’s a fun update to keep us busy tapping in the down time!   Plus it’s always nice to see Marge get a friend again 😉

If you run the Level 54 questline from start to finish, without using donuts, it will take you 4.5 days to complete without the Jimbo questline (but includes building Seething Sisters) and an additional 20hrs if you have Jimbo.
