Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Are you ready for some Tap Ball!? Tap Ball is the newest sensation sweeping the streets of Springfield. A game invented by our very own Homer J Simpson! In the First “Act” of the Tap Ball Event (funny they’re called Acts, really they should be called Periods like Hockey. Oh EA, it thought you knew sports 😉 ) you’ll unlock Referee Homer, Soccer Lisa, Pin Pal Apu, Build a Stadium (with a little help from Duff, the Kwik-E-Mart, Costington’s and Stupid Flanders) and challenge your friends and neighbors to some friendly Tap Ball competitions!
This Event is broken up into 3 Acts (again, should be called Periods EA…), with each Act containing part of the story. To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act. Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event. For the First Act you’re tasked with collecting Foam Fingers (
) to unlock each prize! The Fifth and Final Act 1 prize awarded at 19,500 is Softball Mr. Burns, a new costume for Mr. Burns to wear in Springfield!
So let’s take a closer look at this “coach” and find out just what happens when you drink too much tonic and unlock him in your Springfield.
Once you’ve collected 19,500 you’ll automatically be awarded Softball Mr. Burns and you’ll see this message popup:
As long as you’ve reached Level 11 and unlocked Mr. Burns, you’ll automatically unlock this costume and Mr. Burns will become Softball Mr. Burns…
And Softball Mr. Burns is part of the Sporty Oldies Character collection:
As long as you’ve unlocked Mr. Burns, you can immediately start using him to play Tap Ball. You’ll find him on your roster of players when you start a new game.

I’ve gotten to the task for Make Softball Mr. Burns bond with Milhouse, but when I go to softball Mr. Burns and try to select the task, it’s locked and says it requires Burns Manor. Is anyone else seeing this? I’m fairly new to the game and only on level 19 so I don’t have Burns Manor yet. Am I just out of luck with ever being able to complete this task before the event ends?
Yes, you’ll most likely just have to wait until you unlock the manor. The quest should stay…
Mr. Burns & Millhouse have bonded like 3 times now & won’t register as done on Burns’ part. What’s up? Have been in & out of the game numerous times as well as back & forth to Krustyland.
Could just be a glitch with it, contact EA let them know. Or just ignore it, it should disappear when the event is over.
I completed pt 3 and the task for Mr burns and millhouse both say done but my game won’t progress of acknowledge that I’ve completed it. Recommendations at this point?
Try going to Krustyland and back to Springfield, sometimes that helps clear it

Is there no way to get Softball Mr Burns directly if we missed out in the first act? I don’t have Jasper and don’t want to spend doughnuts to get his skin. Nor am I interested in the obstacle tires and wall. I just want Mr Burns…. ;(

Yeah I am exactly the same, i missed out on Burns’ Softball skin by about 600 foam fingers. I missed the first few days of the event which I am gutted about because had I been able to start on time, I would have got enough foam fingers no problem. In my game though, at the minute it gives me no option to get Softball Burns? It just looks like Act 1 is still active. Will this change and the Burns skin will cost donuts? Or will it become available for a ridiculous and unachievable amount of amateur bucks?
I believe it will only be available to purchase for donuts.

If I want you to bunt, I’ll touch my belt buckle not once, not twice, but thrice. This might be my favorite skin in the game, and from a truly classic episode. Alissa, I know you agree. I only wish he had a task to make Don Mattingly trim his sideburns. 😄

Do you know if we will be collecting something other than the foam hands tomorrow when Act 2 starts? As I am wondering if it is best to delay the daily tasks as I am not close enough to 4000 to earn the extra donuts. if we are going to be collecting something else is it also not worth tapping on the fans before 9AM GMT because they will in effect be lost and should be kept for the new items to be collected?

I have got Burns, so I am working on the assumption that it is best to leave the daily tasks until I am saving up for new prizes. Any theories on that?

Oh just kidding hehe thought you’d like to see that asked at least one more time 😉 anyway I just finished the questline and I love this skin. His “signal plays” task is one of my favourite visuals in the game from a really great ep of the BEST SHOW EVER.

Is it just me? I’ve noticed tons of hackers during this event. It’s probably because we have the option to see other peoples towns. Well there’s totally something in the water because so many people have been commenting on it as well. To all the hackers, your lifestyle is unfair. ):

Another good reason to have your own, handpicked neighbors…. I’ve only been playing tap ball with my neighbors, so I’m not seeing those random hacker towns. (Plus, even when I lose a game I feel good knowing that I just helped a neighbor to earn Amateur Bucks, too!)
I didn’t get to play the first few days of the event, so I’m about 2000 shy of getting Baseball Burns. Does anyone know if after Act 1 is over, you’ll be able to continue earning towards those prizes, or will Burns become a craft prize only? Don’t want to waste donuts, but want to make sure I don’t miss out on him.

Any update on this? I’m reading it in the game that I have to spend 150 donuts to get the skin & I missed out 🙁

Hi, do we know what will happen if we haven’t collected enough foam hands to unlock Mr.Burns? Will we get the chance to keep collecting until we do and then move on or will we be forced to miss out and start act 2 with the option of buying for tickets etc. like the last event? My game started late as I didn’t realize there was an update in the app store (don’t know why I never get the ‘update required’ screen until way after everyone else) and so I missed out on a couple of days collecting and I wont quite get there in time 🙁
At the moment we don’t know. Not sure if they’ll carry over, be purchasable for donuts or what…it’s a wait and see game.

But here’s what I don’t get during the questline (so far)… When the first task for the kids to play softball came up, Milhouse didn’t have that option in his task list! All of the other kids (even Hugo!) could play, but not Milhouse. But then, when that task ended and the next bit of dialog began, it was Milhouse telling Mr. Burns how great it was that he set up a game so all of us kids could play (or something like that) and then his next task was to look up to Mr. Burns as a new father! (And poor Mr. Van Houten…but that’s another story…)
So, I’m confused… Was my game the only one in which Milhouse couldn’t play softball with the other kids in Mighty Bucks Pt. 2?

I’m level 52 and I have 20400 foam fingers and I don’t have softball Mr burns although it says I unlocked all the prizes for act 1 please help
It’s either on Mr. Burns (so tap on him and look at his list of skins), or it’s in your inventory. Check your entire inventory, if you still don’t see it…contact EA
Love having Mr Burns play tapball! Quick question but does that outfit for grandpa unlock further through the acts or is it a skin that already exists for more seasoned players? Really debating over getting Jasper and completing a set might just tip that decision!
