Tap Ball 101: Amateur Buck Earning Tasks (Act 2)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

As the event moves on more tasks will be added and we’ll be sure to cover those as well.  These are just what are unlocked right now…

And remember…you can send a character on a task and they can still play Tap Ball.

What are your thoughts on the Amateur Buck earning tasks?  Have you been sending your characters on regular tasks?  Which ones your favorite?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Just unlocked tennis marge and kungfu comic book guy, so now have 8 tap ball players. 4 are at max level. At this point, do you think it’s worth upgrading the players on my second team?

  2. Lyingcake4648

I can’t find two of the tasks you listed for tennis Marge. Neither Serve or Crabwalk seemed to be in her tasklist

  3. So my strategy is to not upgrade any players and play 5 star plays and lose on purpose so you can get 22 bucks compared to 30 you could MAYBE win if you spend thousands on upgrading each players. Just my strategy cause I need a lot of stadium decorations so i need to save for those rather than upgrading players

  4. Here’s a moan!

Surely the characters should earn event currency when they do “trophy life part 10” (co-operative vs competitive) 🚅 🏈⚽:'(

  5. I’ve mostly been winning the games. Sometimes I tie. I don’t remember the last time I lost and a lot of times I have the tonic that I use if I feel it’s necessary.

  6. I don’t remember where the 90 friend taps (for hats and bucks) was mentioned, but was it ever figured out if that was real? I still only get the original 50 taps, even a day or two after I read about it. I bought the ball and completed whatever that task was that came after.

    Was this real?

    • It was real for a few minutes I think. Shortly after that update hit another hit and i believe that pulled the actions. However, since we’re getting conflicting numbers. Some are getting 35, some are getting 50 and some are getting other numbers…

  7. Most of my characters have either 3.5 or 4 stars. Should I be upgrading my characters or spending it on the soccer balls?

  8. Hi, Am I right in thinking I buy the ball for 500 AB then drop it in someone’s town…..never to see it again???!!
I’ve had balls of various size & colour dropped in my town, one so small I thought it was the hamster bouncing along. I understand the community aspect, but was was the point of me spending 500AB?
Where does a ball go when I tap it? Before I bought the ball, one arrived in my town, I tapped it, it counted 1 on the score, then I was able to drop it in another neighborino’s town. None of the others I have tapped has allowed me to do that?? Confused?!

  9. Haven’t read a comment about this yet but the KBBL radio station has a 16 hour task to get 16 AB.

  10. The Commander

A fairly fun event, I like it so far. Any ideas if there are going to be some fun additions to the Amateur Buck Shop? I’m starting to wonder why I’m tapping as much as I am given that most of those items are given to us free already and the obesetade is useless. Is the ultimate goal of upgrading your players to earn more bucks just simply buying more sport balls to contribute to the community prizes? Otherwise there’s only so many bleechers I’m interested in placing.

  11. bugh! for the first time ever my game did NOT save when switching between devices. i played on my android around lunch, setting milhouse on #2 of his 3 daily training tasks, came home seven hours later and opened it on my ipod only to find him still on #1. still will make the 24 hour mark but what a pain.

  12. when i unlocked the alley Mcballs shop i did something that was actually quite useful in the end. the quest requires you to send 10 springfielders for 16hr tasks, each of which earn you 16 bucks. i only sent 9 in one go and waited 2 mins to send the 10th one. 16hrs later i hit the place to get the 16×9 = 144 bucks and sent them straight back to doing that task to earn a further 144 bucks. 2 mins later i completed the task by hitting the 10th guy. after this you are unable to perform this task again but because i already sent the previous 9 back on the task they will still earn 144 bucks

  13. Hello again I apologize but I have a couple questions that I’ve been thinking about so instead of asking one by one I thought to annoy you and pile them up.lol Can you get the hover copter at any time or only during this 4th of July sale? which ends? Also when I start playing my.game it shows me that I have lost a few games during my absence, is that my neighbors that visited my town? How doI know if my neighbors are visiting ? One more question the quest for “Softball Burns” do you have to complete it I mean I know that you don’t have to but would I miss out on any prizes or messing with the story line? I already got lots of tasks to do, so I think I’ll skip it unless it unlocks a gift or prizes or something other than just a lengthy quest with nothing at the end. .. sorry if that seemed redundant and were we supposed to get anything at the fight for free stuff at alley mcballs? It says free “stuff “. Thanks.
    Wes.

    • Only during the 4th of July sale. (July 9th)
Yup it’s from neighbor visits. Sometimes you’ll get a popup that a game was played while you were out. You can also check your record, it’ll show you which neighbors played you.
You can skip his questline, but it won’t disappear from your task book until you finish it.

Fight for free stuff just awards amateur bucks

  14. Fit Milhouse (I already had this skin – so did other Tappers – from a prior Event, yet said skin is unlocked to earn Amateur Bucks, right?)

Tennis Marge (24 Hour Crab Walk Task – this I can’t wait to see (lol)

Act 2 = Lotsa Amateur Bucks Tasks 😉

  15. Hey, thank you again for this wonderful post! Now, I’m waiting for the “Should I spend donut on Jockey Bart and Furious D?” post! 🙂 Hope it comes today! 🙂

  16. Karlos | throwrugktj

I just wish one of Milhouse’s Amateur Buck tasks was visible! It’s amusing when everyone’s gathered around the stadium being sportsy. 😀

  17. Quick question:.I love the bouncing game balls sent by friends. Is it necessary to tap? I’d love to just keep them. Thoughts?

  18. I was at 17800 for Act 1 and Burns still costs 155 donuts. Would willing trade every other prize in this event for that one. Royally pissed off about it – had connection issues for two days before I could get started and couldn’t quite make up the ground

    • Sorry, supposed to be a response to bwtayl2004 | July 6, 2015 at 7:57 pm

    • I couldn’t play for the first three days of the event because I was on holiday and didn’t even realise there was an event out! Then when I finally tried to download the event over the hotels crappy wifi it took all night to download then I got locked out the free wifi for excessive usage haha. In the end I still managed to catch up get softball burns and one around of bonuts so it was possible lol but yes I probably am too addicted lol.

  19. I find it frustrating that Ned and Milhouse only have 4-hour AB tasks. I mean, that fine during the day, but a waste of 8 hours overnight. I really wish they had an AB task longer than that!

The other thing that’s been frustrating me is that I haven’t been able to do a good enough job managing the timing of my tap ball games and have been suffering bad time slip when it comes to getting the “first win of the game” bonus. I’ve already had to lose out on it one day when the timing had gotten too late, and it’s about to happen again, probably tomorrow or the day after. That’s a HUGE payout to lose out on, especially since I don’t have enough tap ball players to make two teams yet. 🙁

Oh well…hopefully I’ll do well enough to get all the prizes (and craft a couple of extra things) and it won’t matter too much! 🙂

    • I don’t know if this has happened to someone else, but I had 0 Amateur Bucks, went and played an opponent and won, got the 120 bonus, and when I checked my total it was 120, so I did not get any Amateur Bucks for the win, just the bonus.

      • I found that the first win of the day only got 88 Amateur bucks not 120. I thought I just miscalculated but today I took note going into the match. Got the win – 24AB – and the notice for the first win of the day and only got 88AB more. Is this a bug or can’t the programmers at EA count?

    • That’s part of why I like sending everyone on the 4 hour tasks. When I get notification they are done it’s time for new matches.

  20. Please please please do a post on Springy!!

  21. I must say that Ride Around Town is a pretty cool looking joint task for Jockey Bart and Furious D. Definitely happy I picked up that premium combo.

  22. Is it just me or has anyone else seen the NEW land available. I bought mine today

  23. I got a trick… Though the task has past me I can’t recall the name but there was a task for 16 hours, for some characters to “fight for free stuff.” Which only required 10 people. I loaded it out with 9 I had available. Then I noticed later on before those characters finished the task, I had others free up that could join in and earn more amatuer bucks for that one shot task. And when the original 9 free up, if done before the additional complete the task they can be reassigned to earn more bucks again. Does this make sense? In a way exploiting the one shot task for as many bucks as possible if timed right

    • Yea it’s been going around in the comments (and will be mentioned in the prize post) it’s for Alley McBalls…

      • That’s right, couldn’t remember. Sorry, I don’t read what everyone else posts. I know that’s got to be the reason of getting annoyed with same comments and questions. I’d be bald if I was you pulling my hair out lol

    • Marc from Nova Scotia

I LOVE the Alley McBalls task! By the time my first 10 people had finished the 16 hr task, I’d managed to get 28 separate attempts at it. A great way to maximize its payout.

  24. I saw some items in a neighbor’s town that have me suspicious…
These are the items I saw that I’ve never seen before: various tennis ball machines and a gray statue of Homer throwing a discus.
These are items that I saw in my game, but are currently locked: a “low blow boxing” machine (this I saw is locked for me until tomorrow; it’s part of the daily tasks), a stand that has a black tire (also a locked daily task) and the “taste of duff beer truck” which is a community prize that is still locked.
I know it’s probably silly to ask since it may seem obvious, but is it safe to assume this person has their game hacked? I always delete neighbors when I find out their game is hacked. I believe it’s unfair for myself and the rest of the players who pay real money for donuts.
    Thanks

  25. I’m getting about 20 Neighbour taps with hats and bucks for a few days now…
    Any ideas?

Thanks for this info, I’m also in the group of not having enough premium characters.. Anyone recommend Furious D?

  26. Is furious D a costume for the unicorn? If not im buying it!

  27. Broke down and bought Lugash’s gym. Burst out laughing watching his buck-earning cartwheel task. loooooooool

    • Ive been eyeing him in my neighbors town doing that task but may have to pass up on him for right now. If anything i want to get crazy cat lady…

  28. OtriviaLaLavia

When it comes to playing Tap Ball against a neighbor are Jokey Bart & Furious D two separate characters or do they play as one character?

  29. My favorite Task in this Event is by far Mr. Burns – Signal Plays. It’s just hilarious to watch.
The only thing, that annoys me a little bit is that most of the tasks are 4h. I like 1h and 8h more, because of time-management (I just call it that in shortage of a better term).
And overall I don’t like that a lot of the Tap Ball Costumes require Donuts. Even most of the free ones require Premium Characters. I got some Premium Stuff, but not one of the characters, that can play Tap Ball. Bad luck I guess. Or bad choices I made in the past.

    • This is the umpteenth time I’ve read someone rave about Burns’ signal plays task, and every time it stings knowing I missed out on him in Act 1. Also, the Homer at the Bat episode is one of my all-time favorites, as I know it’s yours, Alissa. I’m a baseball junkie, and I love how Burns’ old timey costume alludes to the fact he is inexplicably old enough to watch Ty Cobb for a nickel during the dead ball era, with enough money left over for a moon pie and ride on the trolley (just another amusing instance of the mind bending “just how old IS Mr Burns?” running gag, an understated joke that’s been ingeniously woven throughout the show’s run).
Long story short, I have a question! If I currently have 14,357/15,100 needed for the training wall at a cost of 25 donuts and I purchase it, how many donuts would it then cost to buy the Burns costume? I don’t want to buy the training wall in vain if it’s another 150 to get baseball Burns (since I’m a freemium player).

      • And by training wall, I mean obstacle wall! Thanks.

      • I’m not sure honestly. I know during Act 1 he was 400 Donuts to outright buy him instead of collecting. Not sure if it’s been lowered or not.

      • Oof sorry to say but baseball burns is also voiced “for the last time I said get rid of those sideburns!!” Or something like that

      • I don’t think I’ve sent Burns on that task yet – or if I have I didn’t look at him. I really must pay more attention….

    • 24h tasks would be the most time efficient though. Doesn’t give you much to do during game play of course, but guarantees the full amount of bucks per day. I prefer fun visual ones, even at the expense of earning more 🙂
My favorites are the Signal plays and Jasper’s Catch an Imaginary Fly Ball.
