Should I Spend Donuts On the Basketball Stadium?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s getting sporty in Springfield!  With the 2015 Tap Ball Event loads of new sports related decorations and buildings have been introduced in our stores.  During Act 2 of the event the Basketball Stadium has arrived in our stores. Now I know you may be trying to decide if this is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Basketball Stadium to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this sports arena  to YOUR Springfield!

Building: Basketball Stadium
Donut Price:
90 Donuts
Earns:
$500, 45xp/24hrs
Size:
10×12
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Consumerism +10

Pros
-Comes with a short questline and 1 time use task for Bumblebee Man (Mr. Burns is part of the task too, but he doesn’t use the building for his part)
-Neat looking building, great to finish out a sports complex area.
-Adds to consumerism, one of the hardest areas to max out

Cons
-Does not pay out event currency
-Very pricey for a one time use building

Final Thought:
Premium:
Personally I don’t think this is worth the donuts.  If it paid event currency or the task was permanent, I’d think it was a little more worth it…but as it stands I think it’s a pass.   Unless of course you have a sports complex that you’re dying to complete…

Freemium:
Stay away from this one in my opinion.  Just not worth the donuts for what it is/what it does.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do and I can tell you I will be passing on this one.  In my mind, it’s just not worth it.  Whatever you decide, just remember it is limited time, so if you’re thinking about getting it make sure you do before Act 2 ends or you’ll miss your chance!

Here’s a look at the dialogue that pops up:

Bumbling Around
Mr. Burns starts

Mr. Burns: My strange, beehive-themed basketball stadium is a stirring reminder that the idiot public can be made to pay for anything.  They build me a $250,000,000 stadium, and I provide them with a few minimum-wage jobs slinging hot dogs forty nights a year. Everyone wins!
Bumblebee Man: Ay-yi-yi!  Una gran casa para mi familia!

Burns: My beautiful stadium has been infested with bees.  Smithers, call a bee exterminator!
Bumblebee Man: No es bueno, Senor Burns!  Soy un homre!
Smithers: I think he’s saying that he’s a man, sir.
Burns: Well, we have exterminators for those, too.
Smithers:  They are slightly more expensive than insect exterminators.
Burns: True, but I do so love watching them work.

The Basketball Stadium Leaves Our Stores on July 13rd

  1. I bought this right once I saw it. Never spent one of those pink circles until now. I’m a basketball fan so it’s cool to me. Steff Curry with the pop

  2. Would still like more things that can be bought with in game Mahoney instead of donuts. Any chance?

    • There’s always a mix of both things, but because EA makes money off of donuts you’ll most likely always see more premium than freemium

  3. I am not a basketball fan, and yet I still bought this building. I just like the look of it, it’s got the scale of a “large building”, and I happened to have a place in my Downtown section where it would fit as another “skyscraper”-type building. Yes, I know it’s not that tall, per se, but it’s also not overtly-basketbally, so could just be another cool-looking downtown office building.

    Anyway, I liked it/bought it.

I only wish that “Mr. Bee” could keep his task there and keep earning event currency (and dollars after that). I really don’t get why they make so many single-use tasks for characters that then go away and buildings lose their animation.

  4. I’m a big sports fan and this was still a pretty easy no for me. Your article just confirmed it.

  5. CentralCali559

Got it. Added it next to the Springfield coliseum and Duff stadium

  6. I like the look of it, and also the cute animation with the bees buzzing around. And if you don’t send Burns to finish his part of the task, you have a quasi-permanent task for Bumblebee Man.

  7. I LOVE the look on this one, it would also look great as an upscale shopping center building or next to the beach house, but 90 donuts on a one use, non canon? Don’t think I can justify it. Let’s see if I get impulsive streak before the clock runs out…

  8. Old Dude who runs the House of Evil

If it came with Muk Mu I’d get it in a second. As it is, I’ll likely pass.

  9. Why does EA refuse to keep tasks permanent at these buildings so we can see the animations? Can’t somebody contact them and tell them to get to work? We pay money for these items and they don’t care.

  10. It is nto worth it, but wish I knew about the Bumble Bee tasks earlier. Shoot!

  11. Alissa, you’ve confused me for a moment 😛 you’ve written that the basketball stadium is leaving the store on July 3rd, and I was like “are we in June yet?”, but then I realized it was a typo and it’s leaving on July 13th. 😉

  12. This seems like a better deal than the Laser Tag building. It’s 1.5 times the cost, but earns the same amount of money. Why?

  13. I’ve got a growing sports complex area that I’m quite fond of, but the ROI on this is way too low for a freemium player (though I have bought donuts 3 times now…).

  14. I’m treating it like a permanent task, at least for the run of the event. Don’t send burns on his part of it and you can keep sending bumblebee man for 8 tickets every 8 hours.

    • Good advice 🙂 Im still using The Anvil to put all my freemium characters on a premium 4hr task!

  15. i felt it was worth it just for the bees!
