Tap Ball Prize Guide: Act 2, Prizes 2 and 4 Obstacle Wire and Log

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Are you ready for some Tap Ball!? Tap Ball is the newest sensation sweeping the streets of Springfield.  A game invented by our very own Homer J Simpson!  In the Second “Act” of the Tap Ball Event (funny they’re called Acts, really they should be called Periods like Hockey.  Oh EA, I thought you knew sports 😉 ) you’ll unlock Tennis Marge, FIT Milhouse, unlock Community Challenges and continue to challenge your friends and neighbors to some friendly Tap Ball competitions!

This Event is broken up into 3 Acts (again, should be called Periods EA…), with each Act containing part of the story.  To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act.  Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event.  For the Second Act you’re tasked with collecting Hats (ico_june2015_hats_01) to unlock each prize!

For this post we’re going to combine the second and fourth prize…why?  Because they’re basically the same prize, just designed a bit different.  So they fit nicely together in one post 🙂 Sooo…

The Second Act 2 prize awarded at 11,900 ico_june2015_hats_01 is the Obstacle Wire. 2015-07-06 21.27.57

And the Fourth Act 2 Prize awarded at 23,800 ico_june2015_hats_01 is the Obstacle Log. 2015-07-06 22.09.10

Both items are decorations for your Springfield.  So let’s take a closer look at both of these obstacales and just what happens when you unlock them in your Springfield.

Let’s start with the Obstacle wire…

Once you’ve collected 11,900 ico_june2015_hats_01 you’ll automatically be awarded the Obstacle Wire and you’ll see this message popup:

2015-07-06 21.53.04

You’ll have the ability to place the Wire in your Springfield immediately or place it in your inventory for later (store).  If you store it, remember you’ll have to go into your inventory to retrieve it.

And it’s basically the exact same thing for the Obstacle Log…

Once you’ve collected 23,800 ico_june2015_hats_01 you’ll automatically be awarded the Obstacle Log and you’ll see this message popup:

2015-07-06 22.09.18

You’ll have the ability to place the Log in your Springfield immediately or place it in your inventory for later (store).  If you store it, remember you’ll have to go into your inventory to retrieve it.

And that’s really it to BOTH prizes.  There’s no questline, no dialogue, nothing telling you to place it in your Springfield to earn more ico_june2015_hats_01.  Just win the prize and that’s it.

And now here are some quick facts about the Obstacles (they’re both exactly the same):

gauntlet03_menu gauntlet04_menu

Size: 3×3
Conform-O-Meter Impact: Vanity +500
Where Can I Place It?: Grass/Pavement
What Does it Do?:
Nothing really.  Just a decoration for your Springfield.  No animation and no character interaction. These are now animated, when I initially unlocked them they were not, so it must be a recent addition by EA

So that’s it my friends the full breakdown on the Hat Obstacles for Act 2!

What do you think of the Obstacles?  Have you unlocked 1 or both yet?  Where about you placed it in your Springfield?  Thoughts about the event overall?  Any prizes you’re most looking forward to?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Does anyone know how the obstacle log works IRL? I’m trying to figure out which way it should be oriented relative to the other obstacle course (among other things).

    • You have to run over the beam, so you should place the beam in the direction of the course.
(I have made and obstacle bowling alley out of it)

      • Thanks! 🙂

Now that I think of it, I should have been able to figure out that orientation, since, in the other direction, they’d just run into the ropes!

When you say “run over the beam,” do you mean they have to run on top of the beam? Yikes – that sounds hard!

  2. Mine are in Kamp Krusty. Just another way to torment the kiddies…

  3. Actually, whilst I like the skin for Marge, I might not get it(unless it was incredibly cheap) as I’m quite low on money, and I currently have eight players, with all of the free ones I shall get, I don’t think I will be able to get a total of twelve for another team unless I buy more anyway.

  4. One thing I forgot to ask, how much did the Mr. Burns skin cost after the first part ended? I missed 6 days this week, I’m catching up on the daily tasks but I have very little chance of unlocking Marge and I was wondering how much she would cost as I am assuming she would cost a similar amount. If I am lucky, I should just about get to the log obstacle, but if I can’t, I may save up for it as my team is already weaker than my friends’ and I don’t think I will be able to buy many extra decorations. I wanted to get two of most, and several fences, but it seems I won’t be able to. I may just occasionally upgrade some players, buy balls for the community prizes, craft these as they look good as a complete obstacle course and some fences to contain something. I had hoped that there would be a huge surge in earning Amateur Bucks, but I’m not so sure. Having enough players for multiple teams helps. Oh well, it’s a shame I missed some as I’m actually quite enjoying this event, more so than previous ones.

    • Depends on where YOU were in collection. Just tap on Act One and see how much he is unless you got him. For her… You’ll have to wait and see

  5. Hi all.
After unlocking tennismarge, I’m earning donuts, one donut lottery ticket pr 3000 caps. I’m getting shorted though, I have 35060 caps, and at the quest icon it says 1957/3000, so just over 100 caps missing there. What’s up with that?!??
    😎

  6. I did it. YEAH !!! I unlocked Tennis marge today on both my towns. woohoo !!!

  7. As to what to craft, my uneducated guess is that obstacle course items will eventually come back as purchasable, expensive things like the bowling pin return as premium items, hopefully with a % bonus. Or perhaps none will ever return…

  8. I’ll take any new decorations I can get

  9. I like the new animations, these look good together, I’m hoping to get these before the final act arrives but I doubt I will be able to thanks to all the time missed. I really want to get Springy, that episode was good, I loved the mascot and he is an NPC. Sorry, wasn’t sure where to put this, as I couldn’t get on, I won’t get a few of these and I missed a lot of daily tasks. If I complete one of the old daily tasks, will I be able to start the next one right away(given that they were meant to be done days ago) or will I only be able to do one a day? Also, based on previous acts/events do you think that it will be possible to get some of these? I’m guessing if so, that things like the Marge skin will cost donuts. Thanks in advance.

    • I’m still interested for future reference, but I just realised that the one I missed are the only skins/items, the ones after are consumables etc., and the unlock for the Crazy Cat Lady to play Tap Ball, which is of no use to me. If I am restricted, it seems I won’t miss out on anything too important.

    • Guest-
You can catch up on the daily tasks, don’t worry! Just start whichever task is first available to you, and as soon as that’s complete, you can begin the next one in line. You can do this at your own pace, but only up until you’ve caught up to the current day’s task. This means you can’t work ahead (for example, I’m current with all the daily tasks, but I can’t move forward and complete every single one on the list, because they unlock in-game one day at a time). So even though you can’t skip ahead, you can still catch up and do multiple old daily tasks in one day.
Here’s a suggestion for anyone interested- I think I’m going to skip the daily task the day before Act 3 begins. That way, I’ll have a head start on Act 3 currency by doing an extra task as soon as it begins. (This is ONLY helpful if you’ve collected enough caps to be earning bonuts by now. Otherwise, keep on tasking!) 🙂

    • You can do the daily tasks straight away, they stack up, unless you catch up, then you have to wait a day for it to unlock.
I think when act 3 starts you can buy them with donuts, but a lot…

  10. GodlessSquash

So, for those of us not spending the Donuts on Tap Ball players, does that mean our first shot at having two teams is with Tennis Marge and CBG (daily training prize in two days)?

    • I believe so, that should round out the team..although you may still need Ralph from the splash screen

      • Hm…
so besides the original four, for free we can get
Fit Milhouse, Softball Mr Burns, Tennis Marge and then Kung Fu CBG!
Can’t wait to get CBG skin!!!

  11. Is anyone else getting tons of game notifications suddenly that buildings have finished which were built months or years ago? I’ve been getting “We haven’t seen you in a while!” notifications for days now, sometimes 5 min after I stop playing, but the building thing seems to be new today.

  12. Hey all!! Info on amateur bucks from EA:
First tap ball win of the day is supposed to give 120 amateur bucks. For me, and others I’ve seen on here, I’ve only been getting 74. (That’s a 50 a-buck reward with a 24 a-buck win, so I’m being shorted 70 a-bucks each day.)
I reported this last week, they said it was fixed, and it’s not. The rep I spoke with today specifically told me to post in here and ask everyone with the glitch to report it to EA, otherwise it will NOT be fixed. To escalate the issue and give it priority, more people need to report it, so if you’re having this problem, please contact EA. So please, if you’re aware of this problem for you, report it, and if you’re not sure, check your a-bucks before a tap ball game and then again after. Remember, this is ONLY regarding the first win of the day, where we’re supposed to get 120 a-bucks as a reward.
Here’s a link (courtesy of our AWESOME addicts!!) to report a problem by contacting EA:

    Thanks, everybody!! Happy tapping!! 🙂

  13. okay they are animated BUT …and it’s a big skinner butt …what are we doing with them? I am hoping for some major assult courses in peeps towns seeing as you they are craftables too!

And WHERE are my donuts EA hmmmmm ?

    • oh and hey I wasn’t being rude just very interested in peeps design attention ….in the word of totbox : p

    • GodlessSquash

I just got another message about the 10 donuts with my daily prize. I am not sure if that means EA fixed it, but I should hope so. I did not pay attention the first time to see if I actually got the donuts so I have no way of knowing if I got double or not.

    • I’ve been putting mine with the All Night Gym. Previously I just had punching bags, a training wall, the balance beam and the volleyball court next to it, but now we’ve got loads of extra decos to make it look like a real outdoor exercise space. I did also think some of them could work well as a prison yard, though.

  14. I didn’t know where to put this. I won the tennis marge and didn’t get skin. I uninstalled and reinstalled and still no love. 🙁

  15. I knew that was your deliberate mistake Alissa, to get us tapping 🙂
I just went along with it 😛

….did you have a wager that you could get 45 nerds to make the same reply 💸💲💵💰

  16. my game keeps downloading updates and interferes with my starting up of the app. This happens every single time. Is anyone else experiencing this too, and how should I go about solving this issue? 🙁

  17. Actually, they are both animated when you tap them. The log sways and alligator heads pop up under the obstacle wire.

  18. These obstacles DO all have a little animation ….if you tap the obstacle wire, crocodiles come up out of the mud and the log just swings

    🚅⚽🏈🎾🐎⚾🎳

    • Must have been a recent addition…when I unlocked them a few days ago no animations..

      • I accept this slip up this time. (Squinty eyes) just make sure it doesn’t happen again or you’ll have to feel the wrath of us nerding out on you again. :p (walking away slowly, squinting and pointing… … Backwards walking, slowly, A Frig! Just tripped on the coffee table.. Aahh.. I’m ok, I’m ok.. Slowly walking away backwards again)

        • lol apparently EVERYONE felt the need to tell me they’re now animated…that’s the downside of writing posts in advance.

      • alex - aabcampos2

        everyone wants to participate 🙂
I think this makes we feel like a real addict.

Now that EA is super active…. never a week without new content… dont you guys need another player in your team ?

  19. kimberlyah794

These both DO have animation when you tap them. The wires have little wooden alligators that pop up and bite, and the log swings. They have sound, too.

  20. They are animated now… They weren’t before. 😉

  21. Codenamebi176

They both animate and make a sound if you click on them – though not as satisfying as the bowling machine. I can’t scroll past that without tapping it – every time! 🙂

  22. Both actually have small animations, as do all of the obstacle prizes so far. The log just swings a little (meh) but the ropes have three wooden alligators that pop up and chomp. Totally worth a click.

  23. Mine have animation. When tapped, alligators come up in the wire and the log swings.

  24. Got these, like them. I put the obstacle log in Crazy Cat Lady’s garden and the rest outside the police station.

Anyone want to talk about tactics after unlocking Marge ? I’m planning to hold back the last two or three days of daily training to get a head start on the pennants after we switch to act three. Have already got one lot of overtime donuts too.

  25. Ciarathomp988

They do have an animation if you tap them though 😊 the wire one has lil alligator heads pop up and the log swings back and forth. I wonder if these are ever going to come into play during the event since they keep giving us so many different ones? I just used them to build a nice police training compound, not that it’ll ever get used…😉

  26. Stephanie (sjcg425)

There’s a little animation…the log swings a bit, and little gator heads come up from the dirt in the wire obstacle. Nothing terribly exciting, though.
