Should I Spend Donuts On the Murderhorn?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s getting sporty in Springfield!  With the 2015 Tap Ball Event loads of new sports related decorations and buildings have been introduced in our stores.  During Act 3 of the event the Murderhorn has arrived in our stores. Now I know you may be trying to decide if this is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Murderhorn to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this mountain to YOUR Springfield!

Pros
-Comes with a funny, short questline and 1 time use task for Homer
-Neat looking design.
-Decent bonus % offered with it
-From a classic Simpsons episode (way back in Season 9)

Cons
-EXTREMELY pricey for what it is/does
-No animation
-Homer’s task is only one time, after that it’ll sit useless in your Springfield.

Final Thought:
Premium:
Personally I don’t think this is worth the donuts.  If it paid event currency or the task was permanent, I’d think it was a little more worth it…but as it stands I think it’s a pass.   Unless of course you really love this episode and have no problem dropping 250 donuts for the mountain (and have the perfect spot for it, because it is massive!)

Freemium:
Stay away from this one in my opinion.  Just not worth the donuts for what it is/what it does.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do and I can tell you I will be passing on this one.  In my mind, it’s just not worth it.  Whatever you decide, just remember it is limited time, so if you’re thinking about getting it make sure you do before Act 3 ends or you’ll miss your chance!

Here’s a look at the dialogue that pops up:

Is So Mountain High Enough
Homer starts

Homer: Hey, look!  A mountain just appeared out of nowhere.  That’s…normal, right?
Grampa: Cripes!  I’ve gotten pretty used to entire buildings being erected in 24 hours.   And it certainly makes sense that construction can be completed instantaneously if you lob some donuts at the building site.  But a whole mountain?  Son, I gotta admit.  This one scares me.
Homer: You hear that, Sky Finger?  You scared an old man.  Nice going.  You just had to splash some premium currency around, didn’t ya?  Couldn’t bear to leave a single item un-purchased.
Grampa: Now, son.  You should thank the Sky Finger for spending its hard-earned money–
Homer: No!  I’m through kowtowing to the whales!  Do you know what it’s like to live in a town that’s constantly changing?  When I look out the window, I never know what I’m going to see!  Maybe there’ll be some massive new stadium where Moe’s used to be.  Or maybe a thousand identical blue houses will be crammed up against my backyard fence!  I can’t take it any more!!!!  Just stop already!!!!
Grampa: Son…if the whales stop buyin’ stuff, EA will pull the plug on this whole thing tomorrow.  They ain’t running a charity.  Then you, me and everyone we know just ceases to exist.  Poof!
Homer: …Uh…hey there, Sky Finger.  How we doing?  Listen…about what I said before… Just a joke, all right?  We love our whales.  Really.  You guys are the most special, wonderful, world-paying-for folks in the whole universe.  So what’d say we kick the tires on your latest purchase?  Let me at that Murderhorn!
Make Homer Climb Murderhorn Again- 20hrs, Earns 20ico_june2015_amateurbucks_md, 200xp
Homer: Hey, look–a yeti.
Yeti: *ROAR*
Lenny: Watch out, Homer!  Them snow abominables will eat anything that moves!
Homer: Lenny, this is a video game.  I could eat HIM if I felt like it.  In fact, I AM kind of hungry.
Yeti: *Extremely worried noise*
Lenny: ….Oh my heavens, you did it!  You ate an entire yeti.  I can’t believe what I just saw.
Homer: Mmmm…mythical creature.  Anyway, it seemed like the easiest way to wrap this mission up.  Now…on to the next thing!

  1. Now for 50 donuts in the holiday mystery box. 50 donuts for 5% is a bargain if you can get it, IMO.

  2. The Murderhorn is available for 250 donuts with a 125 rebate. Is this worth buying now?

  3. I seam to miss a lot of things lately.. So I built my own, temple of glum, can’t win, if I don’t play… Keep the sky finger moving… YeHa

  4. I wanted to purchase it but when I clicked on it, it was just too big. 🙁 I think I’ll pass

  5. I got excited for it also but it’s just too much. I would pay 250 for Catfish lake if it was animated with General Sherman and a repeatable task of Homer getting pulled around the lake,

  6. It does have animation, some gently falling rocks.
I got it because I love the episode.

  7. tja… no.

  8. Thanks for posting the dialog! I don’t usually read dialog for something I haven’t purchased yet (hate spoilers of any kind), but, since I knew I was NEVER going to buy this, I went ahead and read the dialog and thoroughly enjoyed it. 🙂

  9. I’ve been waiting for the Murderhorn to appear in the game forever. But now that it’s finally here I can’t rationally spend 250 donuts on something that doesn’t do anything and only has one quest line. Bummed on this one, hope it comes out again, but cheaper.

    • Same. But they can’t really do that though, it’d be unfair for the people who bought it now, wouldn’t it? 🙁

      • They occasionally have “yard sales” and yes it did annoy me because everything that was on sale I had already purchased at regular price.

  10. NoRosesNoSkies

I got it just because I loved that episode haha

  11. 4kidsandacatdog

If it came with sher past I might consider it, but it’s a pass for me, even though I loved that episode and was waiting on tenterhooks for it to show up. Thanks for posting the dialogue…now I can let it go.

  12. kimberlyah794

I like it a lot, LOVE the original episode, and have the donuts, but it’s just too expensive. One of my neighbors bought it, and I think I’ll just enjoy it I their town. Probably. 😉

  13. Community prize amount has gone way down

  14. alzadagrace948

would love love love it, put way to much, would be something like $67! what, no for a drawing. sure wish it was cheaper or a cash price!

  15. ImpeachChurchill

this just in: powersauce is AMAZING!

  16. They should have just brought it out as a limited-time aspirational for cash.

  17. TechnoTrousers0

I loved the episode, and was stoked at the idea of have the Murderhorn out east of my Springfield, but it’s just too expensive for what it does (or in this case, doesn’t do). If it were half that price, and/or Homer’s 20 hour quest was permanent, I’d buy it.

Interesting trivia: I’m pretty sure this episode is the origin of Wolfcastle’s “I’ll be back… Here… Waiting” quote. 🙂

  18. I really liked the episode a lot, but 250 donuts? I’ll probably just pass on it and wait for the next premium character set

  19. Something that takes up that much space should reward us with rent

  20. It really is super pricey but hey.. I bought it cause it’s ridiculously massive lol

    • Oh good! At least I can visit your town and check it out. Not sure I’m willing to drop that many donuts but glad that I have neighbors who are.

  21. TheWackyWombat

Bought it for the nostalgia, disappointed in the delivery. I loved the references (the ‘Sled’ they use to get down the mountain is there, barely visible in screenshots), but considering the size and price they really should have included some sort of animation.

  22. I’d love to have this in my town, but as it stands, I’ll have to pass, too expensive for the aspirational nostalgia.

  23. Stephanie (sjcg425)

I’m disappointed with this one. I remember this episode from way back when, and as soon as I saw that this was going to be released in Act 3, I pretty much planned to get it. But 250 donuts for something that basically takes up a ton of room and just sits there with a one-time quest?? I’m just going to have to pass…so disappointed.

  24. I bought it just because im into hiking and physical fitness but i agree it is bogus how expensive it is for what it doesn’t do. What EA should’ve done is offer the yeti again and give him a permeant task to stalk around the murderhorn.

  25. CapCityGoofball

I like it, but not enough to spend 250 donuts. Thanks for the dialogue, definitely enjoy reading them when I don’t spend the donuts! 😊

  26. I didn’t know kowtow is an English word as uttered by Homer. I thought it is used by chinese.

  27. radicalprefect

I’m not planning on getting it, but I have to say that that’s a pretty funny quest. I love the subtle nods to house farms and “whales”.

    • It was funny. Does EA really consider donut buyers to be “whales”? (Why “whale”?)

      • radicalprefect

“Whales” in the Free to Play game world are the ones that buy hundreds of dollars of the in-game currency. The (probably correct) theory is that you can’t expect most people (the “fish”) to pay to play your game, so you count on a smaller number of “whales” with a lot of disposable income to buy a LOT.

      • That’s what they call the big gamblers in places like Vegas.

  28. VERY pricey, but it looks beautiful in my mountain area next to the ski slope so no regrets 🙂

  29. Been it 100 donuts less, id get it

  30. Samuraigeezers

The murderhorn would look great next to Scorpio’s lair. “Do I climb THAT Mountain? No problem”.
    “No, that Mountain”.!
“D’oh”. (Or something, it’s been years since I last watched that episode).
