Where Did THAT Come From – Basketball Stadium

Hey hey tap ballers! In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?

So with the Tap Ball Event, all sorts of new stuff has appeared in our games. One of the new premium buildings being offered is the Baseketball Stadium. But what the heck? Isn’t the game of hoops played in arenas and coliseums and forums? Only the Best. Show. Ever. would make it a stadium or does that have something do with Tap Ball and all its assorted rules and silliness? When and where did it actually appear in the Best. Show. Ever.? Let’s check out the Simpsons TV Series to find out, shall we?

“The Burns and the Bees” (S20:E8)

The episode starts off with a Christmas intro and no snow once we get to Springfield. Bart’s nards accept a prank to drop a beehive on his sister but when it falls, the hive is full of dead bees. Willy tells her they’ve been dying all over the world and no one knows why. They’re stinging God now. (BONUS: We learn the technical term for a beekeeper is an apiarist.)

Lisa starts a crusade to save the bees. Homer joins her when she informs him there’d be no honey without the creatures that sting him and walk all over his sandwiches. Frink informs them that the bees have fallen prey to Beezles (bee measles). Serendipitously, Lisa has an uninfected queen land on her face and soon a colony joins her face. She’s the bee-faced Abraham Lincoln.

Marge isn’t too thrilled with the bees living in the house on her daughter’s face so she suggests Lisa free her bees into an abandoned greenhouse near the Springfield Penitentiary. So funny that Homer says it was beautiful and thriving before he was hired to run it.

Meanwhile, Burns has won the Austin Celtics (the Rich Texan’s basketball team) in a poker game at the Billionaire’s club. Burns tries to be a fun billionaire and entertain fans of his basketball team, the Springfield Excitement, but he fails miserably. Let’s just say his madcap antics of replacing hot dogs with foie grass, the basketbelle’s ankles and shooting a gorilla mascot aren’t crowd drawers. He decides to build a state-of-the-art arena to fix his situation. Unfortunately, the site for the new venue is right on top of the new home for Lisa’s bees.

Ultimately, Burns ends up winning the right to build his decadent monument to excess at a town hall meeting.  The citizens just couldn’t stand the idea of losing Alaskan native Muck Mu. Who knew Eskimos made such great b-ballers?

Don’t fret for the bees though. Homer and Moe help Lisa’s bees by breeding them with super tough Africanized bees. Moe got them in an ad for excited African honeys. Now Lisa’s bees have angry mutant descendants and are tough enough to live in any environment. Problem is, Burns stadium looks exactly like a hive. The bees swarm the opening night and take over the stadium… it’s now a bee sanctuary.

So there you go friends… the origin for the new basketball stadium and why Bumblebee Man now has an 8 hour task to live there. HINT: He’s a bee.

Whenever I send BBM to his task in the stadium, I will always think of the bees stinging him and saying “We hate you the most, Uncle Tom.” It’s the little things tlike that which make this game such a joy for me. And that is that my friends. Turns out the Baseketball Stadium is just a writers joke to coincide with Tap Ball as it’s actually the Springfield Excitement Arena/Bee Sanctuary in the Best. Show.
