Now…enough rambling from me….it IS Sunday and you know what that means, right? Time for another Open Thread!

Today is my birthday and used to love going out pick of any restaurant, but Hubby actually had to call around since it’s Christmas!
It’s been storming all day & supposed to continue through tomorrow, another thing I had to adapt to living in California it never rained on my bday, now here in Florida has rained every year I’ve lived here grrr! No beach today, but lots to do in tapping land since all the updates!

Hey! I have a question. So I’ve been playing on and off for about a year. U delete the app when I realize I’m addicted aha. But I have one task that I cannot get to go away. It’s the Moog Pt. 5, and the first part is to “reach level 25 and build Burns manor”. I’m on level 30. When I go to build Burns manor, it says to finish Executive Lackey part 2. I don’t know if I even finished part 1, I’m not sure. I don’t have the hospital or any doctor characters, and I don’t know how to get them. Any help is appreciated!!!! Thank you

It’s already Christmas in July “down under” and it’ll be here, “up above” in just a few hours. Mrs. Claus is taking the reindeer out for a practice run, so let’s show them some support by turning on our holiday lights (just takes one tap, if you take your plunger out of storage!) and maybe putting out a few decorations, if you have the time.
I’ll be visiting my neighbors tomorrow for sure, so I can see who’s been naughty and who’s been nice! 😉

My lights have been on all week. I mean, who turns their lights on for Christmas Day only. I will likely leave them on until August 3rd (just like Christmas up over).
Lol – I guess I’m glad I don’t have any regular Christmas trees in my town, or, for reality’s sake, I’d have to leave it up until at least September!
(Actually, I do have the Roman one up permanently in my CoC area, since it went with that theme, kinda.)

I’ve been swamped at work and still trying to power through a gnarly back injury so I haven’t been posting. Been trying to catch up on comments on the weekly thread. Luckily I saw somewhere else Sandra’s idea of Christmas in summer ( I stuck my lights on this afternoon).
Hey Thanks @Sandra! You hit me up with tap balls like crazy and I really appreciate it 🙂 Awesome neighbours like you make these events way more pleasurably ( unless it’s winter OL I couldn’t care less about sportsing 😉 Thank you to all my neighbours! I’ve got some great ones.
I had a heck of a time trying to visit this past event. Was crashing like crazy and going crazy! I finally was able to move the screen in @tapebelt’s town to see the magnificence of it all 😉 I seriously wish I had that talent. I have other neighbours who have gorgeous towns but they don’t post so I won’t write their screen names.
@Cube3dex mate I hope work is going well for you! I saw your post a few weeks back and wanted to post a pic of my cat doing silly stuff but crap connections and forgetting my Flickr password stopped that. Regardless hope you’re taking it as easy as possible and finding your rhythm at work. 🙂
I’ve been in a bad mood from the pain; almost filled my Vic script but luckily had the fortitude to not be a complete and utter idiot. I came down with bronchitis and strep throat on top of my crappy back so have been feeling (uncharacteristically) sorry for myself. The coughing definitely did not help. But trying to shrug it off and power through. Been treating myself to ice cream a bit too often though so need to muster the strength of my Viking/Hungarian forebearers and quit my b****ing.

Alissa, so sorry it’s hot when you are pregnant! My friend wraps herself in damp towels (no a/c) and is pretty much always with damp hair. If you don’t have a/c this might help you a bit.
Has Etamni been around? Dude (or dudette) is my neighbour and a pretty frequent poster but hasn’t played the game in about 2 weeks according to the neighbours screen. It’s weird to be worried about someone I don’t know….but there it is. S/he played frequently and posted frequently also. Hope you’re doing well!

Great to hear from you, but sorry to hear you’ve been feeling so lousy. 🙁 I’ve been on two opiates and a nerve pain medication for about a year now…chronic pain sucks! I hope you’re feeling better soon and, in the meantime, that you can use TSTO and us to distract you a little…
Etamni did finally surface a few days ago to say that he’s not really playing for now (too much else going on) and to feel free to drop him as a neighbor, because he’s not sure when he’ll be back. (I hope I got the gender right…I have a terrible time remembering people’s genders around here, unless it’s obvious from their handle.)
Well, I just installed the update, so I guess I’d better head on into my game and turn on my Christmas lights and then work my way into Springfield Heights and see what all of the excitement (and confusion, lol!) is about…u

I’ve noticed that the number of taps to clear a building has gone down to one. Before, if you had a dollar sign and a thumb on the same building, you had to tap twice. Now, one tap clears the whole building. I haven’t seen how this affects the Kwik-E-Mart with thumbs and the game though.
It WAS doing that for me at one point during this update as well, but since seems to have reverted back to the way it used to be. At least if there’s a job completed in the same building as a tap or income of some form, still have to do two taps.
I agree, I have noticed it reverted back to the old way.
I personally loved this short lived glitch. I would like that to be an option for the future. 🙂
I really enjoyed this event. To me, it seemed like EA paid attention to the complains of the last event and made this one more manageable, but at the same time always having something u could be doing. Thought the prizes were nice, length of time for event just right, liked the story line, and being able to start tasks when we were ready was awesome. Not sure I like being called a whale. 😉
One thing that I had a hard time with was only getting 50 of those things from visiting friends. As I have 12 towns, and was really busy without visiting friends, although I did manage to do that a few times, not getting much for the effort and not making any impact, one way or another on my neighbors, it was not a big deal. Lol. All in all, I think EA did a great job. Of course, I seeked out u three awesome guides before I even began to start the event. Thank you for all you do to help us understand the ins and outs of each new thing that EA throws our way. Mary Jo
I also noticed that there aren’t any spray cans to hit. Oh happy day!!! I can go into a town without having to tip toe around looking for buildings with money. And now, a whole new town to work on. Just when I thought I was going to get caught up on my housecleaning. Where is the maid when u need them. I wish!!! Mary Jo

Grrrr!! Anyone else completely locked out of the game? Tuesday night at 10:51 Mountain time, I have tried starting the game 15 times, cleared my cache and tried 5 more times. All I get is Bart mocking me and encouraging me to hit retry

Yep, finally was this morning. I uninstalled and reinstalled. I saw quite a few complaints on Google Play about the same thing. Glad it was not just me. And glad I can play again!
So here’s a question for everyone…How do you feel about people using renditions of some of your designs in their towns? There have been instances in the past where I have seen a design in someone’s town that inspires me to do something similar in my town…The only thing is I’m so afraid that they will see it and not be happy about me using something based off of their design. On the other hand I’d be extremely flattered if someone saw any of my designs and like it enough to do something like it in their towns. Maybe I’d feel better if there was a way to say ” Hey, I loved your design so much that it inspired me to put something like it in my town!” Just so their clever ideas get credit. How do you all feel about it?

Personally I like to do similar and not identical, but remember, it’s Springfield, so in some alternate universes they will be identical.
I can’t control what other people do in their towns, nor would I care to. Just expressing how i feel about it, as requested.
The idea of exact copies doesn’t sit well with me either. But it’s more along the lines of seeing different ways to use items that I find very clever. Like a good example would be when we had a Springfield show off that featured Radio Active Mans mansion. It had the stone cutter fence plus the iron fence layered on top. I loved that idea and I used it in my town and made it my own. More along the lines of that…I just try to shy away from using ideas from my neighbors though because I don’t know how they would feel.
@tapebelt, I wasn’t dissing your opinion. My comment was directed at others in general. I copied your reply format. No issue with that, right?
In a direct reply, you told me to remember some alternate universes will be identical, so i simply responded to your comment. I didn’t take it as a diss, even if you couldn’t come up with a better way to express an opinion directed at others in general…. 🙄
Personally, I think copying elements are fine (Katie – I stole your idea of putting a water hole in my obstacle course), but copying a whole town, or a large portion of it, seems a little over the line (unless you know the person and have asked permission first, I guess). And, anyway, what’s the fun in that?
I have ‘borrowed’ a few designs in the past but I always post in the thankyou thread and give people credit. It’s a good way to startup a friendship too, I actually met someone a few months back and we now regularly email each other. I would have to agree with Tapebelt though, copying the basic design elements is fine but an exact copy is a bit stalkerish.

A while back I remember reading someone saying that having a whole bunch of characters doing outdoor tasks could slow down your game, or something along those lines. So this morning, I sent all of my characters on outdoor tasks (I have about 75). Everything seemed normal, so my question is: Does the “slow down” just depend on what device you’re on, or how many characters you have?
Also, on a side-note, I found that my Cecil was in storage and I pulled him out. Has anyone noticed that his only outdoor task that ACTUALLY has an animation is his 8hr. The other tasks he just kinda walks around like he would if he was waiting for something to do. Is that everybody’s Cecil, or is this a glitch that mine has?
In my experience it’s completely dependant on your device. I currently have the maximum amount of items that the game will allow (8k) and every single character (just not all the skins), I usually send all my characters on outdoor tasks and I have never noticed any performance issues. I have an iPhone6.
If you visit a friend with all characters and many items, all characters will be out (they’re all forced to do outdoor tasks when a friend visits).
I’ve visited a neighbor where it just started to bog down, but even the next neighbor did that, too. But then I check them later and it runs smoothly. So, dunno.
So I was doing my friend visits tonight and I found myself with a bit of extra time so I decided to do a little neighbourhood perusing. It’s been awhile since I have done this, I was quite impressed by all the improvements that my neighbours have implemented since last time I checked. I then ended up visiting a neighbour that I don’t recognise (not surprising, I currently have 112 friends) and what I saw made my day :). I will have to include some photos here for context.

They say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery and I would have to agree. It has made the many, many hours I spent designing that section all worth it 🙂

I have noticed a number of girls (in real life) with Green hair, I had to search if there was any reason and for all I can gather Katy Perry and some B-list Celebreties are doing it so it is “cool”? At first I thought it had to do with bad Clorine :p
Speaking of Pools, the posted picture made me think what if they do a Pool/Water Balloon war for the next event – Like when Herman was introduced and helped Bart with his Waterballoon war.. The Poolmobile can be a prize… Maybe swimsuits or summer wear skins.. I can’t think of any real new characters to be added with it.. Maybe Nelson’s original bully pals (two short kids). Meh. Maybe it’s just the heat getting to me.
I’d say it’s because green is an unnatural hair color. A girl could do bright red, but other shades of red are natural. I think green and blue are popular colors, both unnatural. Maybe anime has a hand in this as well as celebrities.
Time’s running out. I’m saving up my AB for the last minute. Also trying to finish the initial Ralph quest to see if that helps unstupid his skin.
Any thought if an extension is likely? I’d say not. If we don’t download the app store update will that extend the event even if it says time has run out?
Bit perterbed to be honest. Time has “run out” now, so just minutes before, I spent 15 donuts just to get the final item I needed for my stadium to be complete. Guess what, no update yet, and fans are still in my town like 4-5 hours later. I could have made up that 15 donuts worth of tickets by now.

Okay, time has run out but we can still earn event currency and can still spend it. I was just not confident about it. Only my second event. Also wasn’t sure if things would get discounted. So, far, no.
I also spent a few donuts on things otherwise not worth it. I finished the initial Ralph questline and have now been allowed to start Ballet Ralph’s questline. Sumbersaults are indeed so cute! (Hopefully this means that all of his tasks will unlock.)
I bought 3 more fences (gates), but kept some AB for after event end. Yup, still there.
Have others noticed that fans are back to outputting at a normal level again? I woke up to a full town, and then while I was still playing…more fans! That hasn’t happened in a few days.

If you can, you should pick up some extra single-level bleachers…I think they would be great as reviews stands!

Oh wow! That’s an awesome idea. I was just going to buy fences with my remaining amateur bucks and I figured I had no need for bleachers. Now I will have to consider getting more bleachers. I do have a couple in my inventory already that I didn’t use on the stadium, so I don’t know how many I really need for parades.
Had a bad experience with EA spoke to 8 people and my situation is worse than before. I had bought a gold scratch with a closed bank account. Itunes refused a refund so I changed cards, they charged me for the scratch card but I never got it. So I spoke to many EA folks one of them supposedly rewarded me 3 cards to compensate me, which never showed up in my inventory for one and now when I scroll through my inventory I get kicked out of the game. For the cards the don’t believe me there is nothing there and for my being kicked out I am being told to restart my ipad which does not help at all. I am so frustrated, I spent three hours online for nothing only to make a situation worse.
That’s unfortunate. Have you tried logging out and closing the app completely (also accomplished by restarting your device)?
When I contacted EA there was a log they and I could see. If they say they rewarded you something then it’s in the record but also they should have had you verify that you got it. That’s what they did with me.
Oh, I see that you’ve only been waiting 3 hours. I waited, like, 5 days for completion on my issue. Maybe you just need to give them some more time, as long as they haven’t said they’re done with you.
Hi, yes of course I tried that several times, but the issue persists.
They no longer believed me that I did not get the scratch cards because it shows up on their system, I was told to “just look in your inventory, they HAVE to be there” even if I told them over and over there was nothing there at all. Several times I was told to go check in the game and report back but the chat disconnected and I got a mail that the issue was resolved. It it highly frustrated to deal with them and in the end I got tired it was after 10pm my time (Belgium) and stopped recontacting them to reexplain everything once again (they had the notes, i did not but had to tell them my issue over and over. And I dislike the fact that they say “before we continue may I have your full name please?” Or talk about mundane things when I just want to get offline with a resolved issue…
That’s weird. It’s only my experience, but it seems that they would most likely be more professional than that.
If you’re willing to, it might be good to continue to contact them telling them that nothing has been resolved. It may take many days. Just like with most customer service, if it really is going bad, you could ask to speak to supervisors, working your way up.
My issue was “escalated”, which was cool and pretty much means what I said above. Good luck.

Has anyone else noticed that there are fewer fans to tap today? Every morning of this event I have turned on the game and found my town full of fans to tap (with the message that I have the max number of fans in my town). This morning (Monday) I didn’t see the message, and there were definitely fewer fans to tap. Also- the fans seem to be generating more slowly too. I think EA is trying to reduce the number of Bonuts it’s willing to shell out.
Lastly- When does this event end? Tomorrow? The message says that there’s only 22 hours left in the season.
I believe it’s noon EDT tomorrow, I’ve got to double check.
Yes, I noticed yesterday that there seems to be fewer fans. I think the crafting prizes are too expensive. Maybe they will let us buy them with cash after the event. I would like more fences.
I thought people were just complaining… But I had it calculated at about 6 hours to fill my town…but now even 8 hours was barely making that happen.
EA should at least make the number of fans dependent on the number of games we play…I’ve been playing a lot of games (what with my two full sets of teams).

Did anyone else get the sense the game creators were kind of “sticking” it to the folks that aren’t “whales” I dont remember the full commentary but it felt a bit like they were putting down the folks that weren’t spending money on donuts…ha ha
At least they stuck it to the non-Tap Ball players, too (what with the community prizes).
So what happens after just about every major sporting event? … Scandal! News reporters/talking heads, journalists and investigators… I doubt there would be such an event but I can name a few poorly known Simpson characters they could include.
I do sense Gil will have some sort of rumage sale and a week off so we can start Desmond’s Questline (I haven’t gotten the release forms signed yet). And then… I don’t know.. I doubt a camping event, nor a back to school, I’m guessing something a little more random, but my phycic abilities like my time machine is on the fritz – Blast this Planet and your Gravitational anomalies!
It would be nice to have an event that uses Krustyland again.
Hey everybody, random question here: I bought Hank Scorpio last week and it opened up an old quest with Dr. Colossus from the superhero event earlier this year. The dialogue for Part 1 of “Duelling Honchos” began, however there is no menu option in either character’s menu to begin the task “Discuss the Terms of the Duel”. I’ve had both Hank and Dr. Colossus available simultaneously multiple times, but never has there been a yellow highlighted mission option. So I’m “stuck” with a Dr. Colossus icon in my task book, but can’t actually begin the walkthrough.
Has anyones else ever had this happen? I have to assume it’s because the mission thread is from an event that ended long ago, but I’d like to clear the icon from my task book or actually finish the quest. Any ideas on how to get it started? Thanks in advance.

The exact same thing has happened to me. I keep checking to see if the mission will suddenly appear, but not yet!
I think you need normal Homer to negotiate between them. If you’ve had him in Ref Homer skin you might not have seen an option to use him.
I finally ponied up the sprinkles for him late last week and I can confirm this is a real thing. It may be a glitch or someone forgot to take down the months old task… It may go away with tomorrow’s removal of Tap Ball. We’ll have to wait and see.
