Level 55 hit our devices last week and with it arrived a long requested long lost brother of Homer…Herb Powell! Now I know you may be trying to decide if this is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it! We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add Herb Powell to YOUR Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this successful brother to YOUR Springfield!
Building/Decoration: Powell Motors
Character: Herb Powell
Donut Price: 200 donuts
Earns: $105,11xp/3hrs
Conform-O-Meter: No impact
Size: 8×10
Level Requirement: Must be at Level 55, unless offered Early Access when the update first hit
Pros:
-Comes with a quest line
-Premium character earns 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character
-Several of Herb’s tasks utilize Powell Motors
-If you also purchase The Homer (or already did) you’ll unlock a bonus questline if you have Herb too.
-One of the more memorable characters from Simpsons history, it’s Unky Herb!
Cons:
-EXPENSIVE
-Not voiced
-Not really a Springfield item/character. (Both are from Detroit)

Premium Take:
Honestly, it’s Unky Herb…how can you say no? Yes, it’s way overpriced for a premium building/character combo. And yes, it doesn’t really belong in Springfield. But again, it’s Unky Herb! This one for me is a Premium player must buy if you’re any kind of a fan of The Simpsons…
Freemium Take:
Freemium players I would add this to your list of something to save up for. It’s another one of those long term goals for a lot of freemium players, in my opinion. However, I will say there are much better character/building combos in this game I’d grab from a practical standpoint before Unky Herb (like Akira, Coach K..even Luann), but it’s Unky Herb. So this may be one to save up for! (at least IMO anyway)
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you I will be purchasing Herb (I honestly just love Unky Herb). However, this is NOT a Limited-Time Item so take your time with your thought process. Herb will still be there in a few weeks. So if you’re on the fence or worried about saving up your donuts relax..there’s no rush to get him.

FINALLY a task at el chem! sure wish it was more like 150 donuts, but i might have to bump it up higher on my list of stuff to eventually get. besides the fact that it’s unky herb, it unlocks another elusive building animation!
I got the Gil offer when level 55 hit and was considering buying the Homer this time, but I couldn’t find it in the store afterwards. What gives?
You have to go to your premium menu. Click on your store, expand it (click the arrow), find the homer budha icon and tap on that. You should see it listed there.

I bought him immediately. I generally don’t regret buying premium characters, but I kind of do for this one. A short quest line and few outdoor tasks coupled with an extremely high price makes me wish there was a way to get a refund …
I’m not going to get into semantics but I’ve always called him “Uncie Herb”. Not voiced and not having the Homer nor planning to buy his House makes me think Gil can come up with a future combo deal with a donut discount, so I’ll wait.
Plus the Baby talker machine without Maggie leaves a sour taste for me.
If he weren’t so crazy expensive I’d be vaguely interested. At that price I would rather go for Duff Man or Barney.
If he came with the hobo skin, I would buy him right now.
Pro: Uses El Chemistri, love the animation on that building but never see it except on Halloween. Now something to make the bad dream house animate.
Con: Since purchase the questline is all indoor. I’ve seen so little of him I almost forgot I bought him.
i’ve been waiting to finish up the event before I buy Uncle Herb. It’s darn expensive but he’s one of my favorite characters.
Will get him for sure, but after the Tap-Ball event is completely over. Currently I am still trying for more bonuts.
This is something for the downtime before the next thing hits.
This is definitely a must buy for me, a Freemium player. I knew I was holding onto my donuts for something! I am literally only 1 donut away from 200 right now, so either I’ll get enough pennants before the update, or I’ll grab some when I hit the next XP level, then Herb will be mine!
I think I’ll pass on this for now… If you look closely he’s just Homer with hair… 🙂
Think that’s kinda the point, y’know, family resemblance and all. I’m definitely getting Herb, just waiting til after event to see if the usual “after event” sale happens on anything first.
Hair yes, but does he have 1001 skins? Bet he is jealous!
