Where Did THAT Come From – Homerclese Statue

Hey hey tap ballers! In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?

So with the Tap Ball Event, all sorts of new stuff has appeared in our games. Act III brought us more prizes to be earned by collecting pennants. The lastt of the five was the Homerclese Statue. But what does naked Homer Simpson bowling on a pedastal have to do with Best. Show. Ever.? When and where did it actually appear? Only way to find out is to check out the Simpsons TV Series.

At first, you may have thought this statue was a tribute to Homer’s Odyssey in “Tales From the Public Domain” (S13:E14). While that is a hilarious segment of this three part episode, you’re actually in the right time period but the wrong episode.

That episode entails Homer as Odysseus… Homerclese actually comes from “Selma’s Choice” (S4:E13). When Homer gets severe food poisoning from eating the remains of a ten-foot sandwich over several weeks, he can’t take the kids to Duff Gardens. Frankly, I think Aunt Gladys’ potato chips that resemble celebrities may have contributed to his sickness.

While Selma is off with the Lizard Queen, El Barto and Surly at Duff Gardens, Homer recovers with Marge. He starts to feel better and watches The Erotic Adventures of Hercules with his wife. It stars Troy McClure as Hercules and Norman Fell as Zeus.  (NERD NOTE: You may remember Norman Fell as Mr. Roper on Three’s Company. He also actually played Zeus in a 1975 movie with the same name as the fictional one portrayed in this episode.)

When Selma and the kids return, they interrupt the loving couple. “Homerclese cares not for beans.”

Too funny. If Homer were to pose for a Greek statue, he is probably in the buff under that toga. Of course this statue is also a parody of the classic Greek Discobolus statue you can see at the British Museum.

Considering Homer likes to bowl and we all know Disco Stu… the name alone makes it perfect for a game about The Simpsons. As a bonus, it may just be the only final prize of the Tap Ball Event that people don’t mind if they don’t earn it. What do you think of it? Like it as the last prize? Place it somewhere funny?
