Should I Spend Donuts on Jesse Grass?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The Monorail has finally arrived.  Yes, the Monorail is now in Springfield….as well as a whole lotta garbage.  Loads of Springfielders can help collect junk from town…but one vegan introduced to help increase your rewards is Jesse Grass.   Now I know you may be trying to decide if this is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Jesse Grass to YOUR Garbage Clearing Fleet?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this vegan to YOUR Springfield!
unlock_jessegrass

Character: Jesse Grass
Donut Price: 100 donuts
Helps with collecting Junk & Metal as well as Plastic and Glass in future Acts.

Pros:
-Comes with a quest line
-Premium character earns 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character
-Earns more junk and metal than regular characters (15 Metal, 75 Junk).  Will be able to be used in future Acts for Glass and Metal.

Cons:
-Not voiced
-Pricey for a character that does not come with a building/decoration

Final Thought:
Premium Take:
Odds are if you’re a premium player you already have Brandine, Uter & Dewey Largo (or at least 1-2 of them)…so Jesse many not be the biggest benefit to you.  BUT if you like limited-time premium characters he’s not a bad buy.  He will help you earn more trash & metal (as well as plastic and glass upcoming), so you’ll earn Blueprints faster.  This is one of those…if you like it grab it characters.  Just remember…once the event ends he won’t serve much purpose.

Freemium Take:
This isn’t the worst buy on the board.  It’s a premium character that will help you during all 4 acts and odds are if you’re a freemium player you don’t have to many premium characters.  So if you’re thinking about picking up a character from this event Jesse should be your guy.  Just make sure you grab him early so you can maximize the most benefit out of him…
BUT if you’re hesitate on spending those hard earned sprinkles, pass on this one.  He’s still pretty pricey for what he does…

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you as a premium player i’m on the fence with him.  If I do grab him it’ll be by this weekend to get the most benefit out of him.    However, this IS a limited-time item.  So if you’re thinking about getting him make sure you make your final decision before he leaves our games.

Jesse Grass’ Permanent Tasks:

Task Length Earns Location
Protest Eating Animals 1hr $105, 26xp Krusty Burger
Write Dirt First Newsletter 4hrs $260, 70xp Java Server
Practice Yoga 8hrs $420, 105xp Outdoor/Visual
Eat a Level 5 Vegan Meal 12hrs $600, 150xp Cletus’ Farm
Peacefully Demonstrate 24hrs $1,000, 225xp Control Building

What are your thoughts on Jesse?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring him to your Springfield (or did you already)? Have him grinding away earning junk and metal?   Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Now he’s on sale! With 30 donuts rebate.

  2. As a freemium player and thinking in the long run I feel Jesse Grass was an excellent purchase for his premium payouts with recycling jobs alone, His added payouts speed up completing weekly tasks in the Rail Yard Project board which pays out 5 donuts per week when completed. The whole process is less grindy since purchasing Jesse.

  3. He’s clearly not limited edition, I mean it’s June now and you still have the option to buy him.

    • When He was first released during the monorail event he was. He was recently added as a permanent addition. If you check the date on this post you’d see it was written last summer

  4. i finally bought him, with the recent haul of donuts… looks nice… i can use him to recycle anything at a premium rate! nice!!

and his cow animation with the banner is back! very funny!

    • quick update. i spent 100 donuts on him, and discovered i managed to finish my weekly monorail challenge 1 to 2 days faster! what a difference a premium character makes… best part is i have now recouped my 100 donuts within one month from the various ways to earn donuts… Thanks EA!

  5. jesse is a clever EA trap. my worst moments playing the game since 2014 was when I felt like I had to recycle for 3 1/2 days to earn 5 donuts. if you spend on jesse, you’ll be recycling (yawn) every week and pulling premium characters away from making money to pay for free maggie donuts. which are much more attainable. thought I’d throw that out there since I haven’t read about it yet

    • At a certain point, having enough money to have another go at the bonus boxes really isn’t an issue….I’ve got over $65M saved up now, so I’m happy to spend time working on the rail yard tasks to get those 5 free donuts. When I need characters for more pressing things, like event tasks, then I put them on that. Otherwise, they might as well be working at the recycling centers…the amount of cash they’d earn doing other tasks still wouldn’t amount to enough to turn them it into 5 donuts by buying rat trap trucks or soemething…there are just too few characters involved for that. (I haven’t done the math, but that’s my gut reaction.)

If anyone does want to do the math (based on, say, the income for the two 4-hour tasks, one 1-hour task, and one 12-hour task a day for the characters who can work at the recycling center, subtracting for the unemployment office “fee”), I’d be interested. (I’d then have to apply my approximate bonus XP multiplier to that to get the “real” figure…)

  6. For everyone who owns the rail yard Jesse is a must have character. He can gather metal so you get stuck a little bit less collecting blue prints. I hope Brandine comes back in a short time. I missed both. But with Jesse it is a little bit easier, now.

    • I saw that Jesse made a return in the latest redwood tree event. Is it for limited time but I don’t see a timer countdown. Also, is it true he helps with recycling for all material types? I don’t see him as a character listed for jobs to recycle but other premium character like Uter, yes. Been saving donuts to get a premium to help but Jesse seems to be the best one to get if true. Any confirmation? Thanks.

  7. I hope they bring back the monorail soon, since I missed the final part of the event 🙁

  8. I passed on him the first time around but since he helps with the tree and with the railyard kinda had to have him now.I couldn’t decide between becky and mindy for Valentine’s. Kinda glad I didn’t splurge now.but I can definitely use Jesse now.

  9. I didn’t know where else to post this…. has anyone else noticed the sign on Krusty Burger for his 60 minute task of protesting missing? Seems to have disappeared from my game since the winter update hit or is it just me? He still stands on top in the cow costume but the sign is missing, I was just curious if I should contact EA or if this is a known issue they just haven’t fixed yet. Thanks for all your hard work and help you guys give everybody! You are amazing!! 🙂

  10. As a Freemium player, I spent all my 100 donuts on him, now that I know that he will be useful on the long term (speeding up recycling towards donuts from the rail yard), so I would highly recommend to get Jesse before he leaves the game at the end of the event!

  11. barleecreations (canid88)

Now that the rail yard has a permanent job for all the recycling I’m torn between saving my donuts or picking up Jesse.

  12. Thanks for the post 🙂 . As a sometimes premium player I decor to jump on Jesse to help earn the items needed. I have finished the current act in both my towns with 3 days to go to earn FREE tracks. So Jesse will be a huge help now that I no longer have caps on earning blue prints (until next act). However, in my game b, I am going to pass for now as I only have 83 donuts saved up and my game b I have never spent $$$ on this town. It was and still is my “what does freemium” feel like town. But I am funding EA on my game a town. So

    • Oops…hi Ames to fast 🙂

As I was saying … So it is actually interesting to have a premium (sometimes) and a freemium town running in parallel. Different game experience and double the fun 🙂

  13. Is it me? Or in the previous years Tappers earned Characters (like Jesse Grass) during an Event! (Yes, Tappers do earn a new Character during Part 1) ….

  14. Picture of the cow costume protest on Krustyburger roof now on the flickr page linked top right of this page 🙂

  15. Besides, he has the dreamiest eyes….

  16. i know you dont do spoilers, but i have a question you might know the answer to, the future jobs for glass and plastic, are they gonna be short like for garbage and metal or more like 4h+ jobs? i keep hitting max on metal and garbage, so there would be no use for him now, but if the other jobs are longer, it might be harder to get the resources, so he might be handy

    • There’d a reason we don’t post them. EA can, has, and will change content up to the point it goes live. Even after. So until we visually see it live in game and can test it… we don’t speculate on it.

In short. I won’t say “this task takes X amount of time” as I don’t know if that info will still be valid once the next Act 2 or 3 actually goes live. Wouldn’t be right to mislead you on false info, right?

  17. I was thinking about picking him up, but decided against it. For one, i am not a fan of the character. Then, with the tasks maxing out (which i already do having only freemium characters available) he would not help me as much as i would like. Decided to go with Lil’Lisa – expensive yes, but earns decent event currency regardless of the capped tasks.

  18. Somebody put the stink on my pumpkin house, and I had to leave it. I mean, it’s a carved out pumpkin. It’s just gotta stink.

And some scrooge dumped garbage in my toy factory, which is just wrong.

Seems blue houses aren’t stinkable and neither is the night hawk diner.

    Expatrie-

  19. Like argcallie427 said “Lisa needed him” and so did I! For some reason he is a favorite character of mine. I didn’t have a lot of donuts to throw around but I didn’t hesitate on throwing them all for Jesse!

  20. I bought him immediately. Lisa NEEDED him.

  21. I got Brandine, should is on my last and final Spunkler kid. Think 36 days left. Cost about 14 donuts. I’m mostly freemium, and got shit 107. So it may be worth it to speed her up so she can help for this event. She will miss it by 2 days
