Should I Spend Donuts On The Golf Course?

Hey there Hoppereenos!

Here were are  a few weeks in since the Monorail arrived in Springfield. Act 2 is now in full effect and with it, some New Premium Items. Like the Golf Course. Now I know you may be trying to decide if this is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Golf Course to the design of YOUR Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding the Putting Green to your game!
golfcourse_menu

Decoration: Golf Course
Donut Price:
100 Donuts
Earns:
1.50% Bonus to $$$ & XP
Conform-O-Meter Impact: Vanity +20
Placement: Required to be placed on Grass.  You’ll need 8×8 patch of Grass open.

The Golf Course Leaves Stores on September 3rd

Golf Course

Pros:
-Constantly animated (The little flag waves constantly. When tapped on garbage pops out of the ground in one of the 3 corners of the Green. Tapping again swaps the Garbage location. Keep tapping til it is gone again.)
-You can get more than one.
-Earns Bonus $$ & XP

Cons:
-Insanely expensive. 100 Donuts is a LOT to pay for this Decoration.
-Only ONE putting Green.
-No character interaction/questline with this decoration.

Final Thought:
Premium Take:
Personally, I think this is way too expensive even as a premium player. Yes there is a Bonus and the animation is silly, but this one was kinda meh to me.  I myself adore decorating my town with random objects found around the game. I just can’t see myself liking this one at all. Not at the 100 Donut cost. Maybe a 30 Donut Cost, but not 100. I would prefer a Character at that price. Or at least a usable Buildings. I think I will stick with finding a creative way to make my own.

Freemium Take:
Stay away…stay far far away from this one.  It’s a giant Donut suck and just isn’t worth it.  If you take a few minutes and look around at some design ideas, you could probably create an entire golf course for in game $$$ vs spending those precious Pink Sprinklies  So freemium players, pass on this one.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you as a premium player I’m passing on this one.  Just not worth it to me.   However, this IS a limited-time item.  So if you’re thinking about getting it make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games.  (and if you are thinking about getting it, the sooner the better)

What are your thoughts on the Golf Course?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring some Putting Greens to your Springfield (or did you already)? Where did you put it if you did?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. If it was 3-4% bonus, i may of considered buying one. As it is, a little expensive.

  2. Maybe if it came with say a skin for someone like willy as well as tasks for someone. But also there should have been other hole decorations maybe sand + water traps.

This one def isn’t worth 100 doughnuts.

I bought everything for this event plus 3 garbage trucks. 2 sit in a area near lil Lisa’s recycling center by the bay. But this one is def too over priced. I’ll save my last 300 for a Gil deal or something.

I’d suggest others wait for possible Gil event or limited time item or upcoming holiday events. If anything I’d buy one but never more then that.

    Happy tapping.

  3. My hope is that the majority of people/addicts will pass on this, and that EA will see and/or hear our gripes about the insanely high cost of a decoration without any quest line and/or skin, and will rerelease this at a lower cost or they’ll add a character skin and/or quest line…so needless to say – this is a pass for me…for now.

  4. the Golf Course
    No Character interaction
    No Tasks
No Mas EA (100 Donuts? How about 25 Donuts! How about ONLY offering Items relevant to said Event! How about ONLY Items that help with the Event taking place!)

  5. I brought three of them !

  6. No interaction + price makes it an easy pass for me.

  7. 20 or 30 doughnuts and I might have been tempted, and if they had a few of different shapes I might have been very tempted to get several. As it is, no, not even a little bit interested.

  8. It’d look good in SH but not at that price. If EA just priced these reasonably, I’m sure they could’ve sold a bunch of them.

  9. That is an easy pass for me. I like all things green (and watery) in my Springfield, but this just isn’t worth the donuts. And it hasn’t even one animated Springfielder working on his handicap…

  10. It’s a shame but the donut cost seems way too high for that bonus %, In comparison the Easter Island God was the same price but gave a 3% bonus.
I would’ve liked the golf course as something a little different in my town but not for that price.

  11. I was wanting one to go next to Sir Putt A Lots .
I’ll just pass on it and stay in the club house and have a few ” 🐰🍹”.

    See ya bye . 🌞 💎

  12. Insanity expensive got 1 near the dump eh made some sense following the show

  13. If I were to get it I would want more than just one… I’m thinking FOUUUUUUUURRR!!! (Nah, I’ll pass) 😛

  14. I should have read this before I bought 18 of these… Would be a ridiculous thing to say.

  15. I agree. I prefer bonus items to plain properties, but the bonus is far too low on this item. The standard bonus seems to be 1% per 20 donuts (like the flags, police car, news van, etc.), but this is no where close to that. I would prefer a single hole and larger animation. Then the proportions would be closer. This one is roughly the size of the mini-golf course Todd or Rod plays in.

  16. This is a joke right? When I saw this up on one of the other sites last week, I was expecting a really huge decoration taking up about 12 plots of land. They call it a golf course but it isn’t even a golf hole, just a tiny green and 3 bunkers. I pity anyone who lays out 1800 donuts in an attempt to make it look a bit more passable.

  17. I was impatient and bought one already – and it is definitely not worth the donuts… *sigh*

    • Same here, although it kinda completes my “sports” area once I make it, all I need now is a football field

  18. This be a negative for me there,Tiger!

  19. Would look really good in SH but no. Is it just me or has EA been making all these new items really expensive? There is a tiny golf course on one of the levels of the business center (I think level 4) though so I’ll just settle for that.

  20. I bought two because I want to make a rich looking golf course in Springfield Heights next to the mansions.

  21. We never spend any money on this game but we had 100 doughnuts available and got one golf hole because we like golf. Cost be damned. We’re now down to two doughnuts but we could die tomorrow. Better to live happy with a golf hole than to hold on to soggy doughnuts.

    • Lol. It is really a personal choice thing. If it makes you happy… go for it. 😉

    • “soggy doughnuts”

I like this term for unspent donuts. 🙂

    • I have been hoarding Freemium donuts all year, holding out for the annual Treehouse of Horror event which always has great items that I could never afford in previous years. I *was* tempted by the golf course, however 😀

      • Same here. Totally jealous every time I visit a neighboring Springfield and they have a Boobarella. I have so many Halloween items and characters but that’s the one I’m missing most.

  22. I’m not a golfer, but I really like the look of this. I agree with you, though, it’s just INSANELY expensive. I love it, but I love a lot of things that I don’t own because they are overpriced. Alas, a pass for me, too.
