Now…enough rambling from me….it IS Sunday and you know what that means, right? Time for another Open Thread!

We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.
So…here is your Open Thread. Last week saw the end of the Monorail Event and the arrival of Level 58…along with loads of bugs and glitches for many of you! Talk about the Monorail Event ending, Level 58 or any bugs/issues you’ve been experiencing. The servers have been down for a while today, how annoying is that? Hopefully it means they’re working on some fixes for all the bugs. The new season of The Simpsons starts next week, are you ready for Season 27? Sunday Night Football tonight features Seattle vs. Green Bay, while Sunday Night Baseball tonight features the Yankees vs the Mets..which one will you be watching? How was your weekend? Do anything fun?

SORRY PHAWK 007 my tablet was on table and my cat chose that moment to walk across the screen and “sprayed” one of your buildings! He had no treats this morning as punishment lol
So about 2 weeks into the recycling / monorail event all hell broke loose at work and…and…I didn’t have time to tap! (I heard that collective gasp, but they were 12 to 18 hour days, man). My question is, is there any reason to continue the recycling? I’m not seeing anything to spend the plastic and metal on.

Every week it resets. I work my people till I max out everything. By the end of the week you’ve collected many track pieces and some donuts.
You have to have the rail yard. If you do, you can continue to make monorail pieces and earn bonus donuts. If you don’t, then there’s nothing you can do with your recyclables once the recycling centers are done.
This late in the week not sure if this will get seen by many, but is anyone else’s Sir-Hugs-Alot broken? Mine lately only says “uh what” and if I click it again it does like a static/wind type sound, just those two things, nothing else.

I have a question that may have been answered somewhere else but here goes. I see all the adds for the hack tool that allows people to add as many donuts as they want. How can EA let people get by with this? I play fair and expect (maybe nievely) that others do the same. Please tell me that the powers that be have a way to find cheaters.
How do Burglars get away with robbing a place? How can people steal cars? How can anyone do anything wrong and get away?
I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Let EA do their “policing”. There are many things in place to “handle” them. Report those “ads” to EA if they are malicious. The same way you would report a virus, bug, malware. 😉
Does cheating negatively affect the games of people who don’t cheat? I’m not trying to minimize the frustration, I’m just new to this game and I honestly don’t know.
As annoying as it is to be the only non-cheater, I feel like unfairness is a built-in fact of freemium games. Some players can afford to buy a lot of extra donuts, which gives them a pretty big advantage over those who can’t afford as many, and those who can’t afford any at all. Even without cheaters, the playing field is not remotely level.
I don’t think not cheating makes you naive. If it does, I guess I’m naive as well, and I’m rather enjoying the experience. My Springfield isn’t flashy, but I’m having a good time building it, and I like the way it’s turning out.
Yea, new update gets Mr. Teeny off cigarettes. From now on, it’s the patch for him!
Quick question about tree-hugging. I’m trying to use the items with the highest points so I can minimize the number of items in my Springfield. I found the following post which is very useful.

I’m going in for some hopefully minor surgery today on my jaw. I don’t know how out of it I’ll be later today (or tomorrow) so I might not visit. I’ve still got that glitch that disapparates my moolah from my houses so sorry neighbours if it seems like there is nothing to click on!

Can you knowledgeable tappers address this tennis court glitch/ windfall? I’m actually not too happy because it’s such an unbelievable opportunity for freemium players to bump our bonuses that I feel compelled to put lots of focus into it. However, what if they reverse this? Or what am I going to do with 611 tennis courts (exaggerating obviously) this is a confusing issue I feel. Thanks
Not sure what you want people to address…what’s your question?
I don’t think anyone knows for sure what EA will do in the future, so I think you just have to use your best judgement about where you spend your resources. If you’re unhappy about having to do the work to get the tennis courts, then don’t do it. But keep in mind that very little in life is free…if you want to increase your bonus multiplier without spending donuts to do it, it seems only fair to me that it would involve some effort. That’s how a lot of things in life go – if you want something, you generally have to either spend money or time and effort to get it. Why should it be any different for this?
I did some grinding to get enough tennis courts to put me over the 100% mark. But I’ve stopped (at least for now), because a) I want to focus more on getting this week’s rail yard bonuts, and b) I don’t know where I’m going to put all of the tennis courts I’ve gotten so far, much less a bunch more of them!
Yeah. So that’s my . The bonus is so juicy that I feel compelled to pursue getting the courts. Time, only a minor concern. I guess I fear them invalidating the bonus at some point. Has anyone ever known EA is take away something like this if they feel they made an error?
of course am also trying to get creative about where to put the courts. I got rid of tap ball field and make it a tennis stadium. But it’s starting to look funny that all my mansions have a court. LOL. It’s just thrown me for a loop because it seems too good to be true I guess.
Ok so this is a site related question. When I go to a post, any post, I have automatic videos pop up in the middle of it, and half the time I get redirected to the advertiser site when I try to close the ad. What’s going on if I may ask?
It’s a word press thing. Honestly we have no control over what ads they put on our site….all we know is the ads help us pay for this site. I know if you hit skip it just redirects you. The fortunate thing is they’re short. The unfortunate thing is they’re really annoying and cause the pages to load slower than they should. I wish we had control over them because I’d turn them off. But I know we need the advertising dollars to keep the site running and keep getting you guys the info you need via rushing our games….
I don’t know I’d it works this way on other devices, but, on my iPad, the video only plays when it’s in view. So, if I scroll quickly down past it, it immediately shuts up! 🙂

Thank you for your answer. I agree it is annoying, but you do what you have to. It just started doing this in the last week or so, is why I was asking. Unfortunately, it still plays even when out of view. Just glad it’s sited related and not malware like I thought it was. 🙂
I figured out how to get missing track pieces thanks to this site, but I have a new problem, I’ve been making Boardwalk tiles that take 3 1/2 days but they are not showing in my inventory

I’m late to the thread but has anyone else had an issue with getting monorail pieces? Last week I was stuck on level 2 and this week I am stuck on level 1. Running on iOS, updating to 9 now. Hope it helps. :-/

Anyone have any tips for reaching the Springfield Heights billion a bit quicker? I already have in my head what I want it to like but it seems like it’s taking forever to raise that real estate property value. Maybe an idea on what buildings to level up first or something like that? Idk, just a fellow rapper who’s wondering.
I’m I’m I’m partway there myself, but it seems like upgrading the office buildings and garages gives you the biggest returns. I’m not sure that matters, though, in the quest for $1b, since I think you have to eventually upgrade almost everything to the max to get there. I won’t upgrade all of my condos (really like having them in an assortment of styles), and I’d like to keep at least one office building and one garage at a lower-than-maximum level, since those two look better not maxed out where they are, but I’m going to work on maxing out everything else and see how far that gets me. (Hopefully, EA will listen to all the requests to have the building designs be selectable, once you’ve maxed them out, like they did with the superhero statue, because then I can just try to upgrade everything in sight, lol!)
I maxed out all my mansions but was able to keep 1 of each level for the condos, business centers and garages which put me at 990,000,000 plus so I just bought a bunch of gold fences and that did the trick

Hi fellow tappers! I’ve noticed while tapping on my neighbors that since our center is now at tunnel entrance there are a lot of buildings right when you enter that can be vandalized, especially Moe’s. I see people complaining of vandalism so maybe you should think about making the buildings that can be vandalized a little further out of the way. I have not hit one, but come close quite often.
Hope everyone is doing ok, I’m still having fits with back and now add a horrible insurance company in the mix so have been busy fighting with them. Throw in some major depression and all makes for a unhappy tapper so have been quiet lately, but still visiting friends everyday and that’s about it! I did manage to finish at least for now my monorail, so hop aboard & take a ride around my town.

Hang in there. I know the process all too well. Pay thousands for insurance to find out “we don’t cover that anymore” or my favorite “we cover it… at a lovely 10%…AFTER you hit your $5000 a year out of pocket”
Man the stories I could tell. Only decent insurance for me is Blue Cross Blue Shield. PT doesn’t come cheap.

Hey guys I’m not complaining but a lot of neighbors hang out here. I now have the glitch where my building are reseting themselves. If you’ve visited me within the last 24 hours then you’ve noticed I’ve had little to no buildings to tap. Sorry is all I can say. I’ll still visit regularly.

I don’t remember off-hand how expensive it was, but, if the price is reasonable, I might reconsider buying the teleporters this year, so I can get from my recycling area to Springfield Heights more easily (since they’re currently pretty much at opposite ends of my land right now).
I used the ‘trick’ with the bulletin board by placing it in da ‘Heights enabling a quick double tap to the Railyaid (which is beside the dump & recycling depots). Unfortunately, it is only one way travel.
If memory serves me correctly, a pair teleporters were priced @ 50 donuts.
Hmm… I think I might pay 50, but definitely not more (unless they had some other value).
If they do bring them back I hope they offer more of them. I love my transporters. But my town is much bigger now, it would be nice to have many of them A, B, C, D etc… and when tapped on you could get a menu asking which one you want to go to
A trick I use is the SH task in my taskbar. If you’re not at 1bil yet you’ll have a task to reach 1bil, and if you click it it’ll bring you right to Red Blazer Realty which is conveniently located near my recycling complex.
Yup, I’ve been using that. Just wish there was something that worked the other direction, too.
BTW, I checked out your town last night… Really liked the driveway area in front of Burns’ mansion and your “fun zone”!

I’m curious about what creature EA will bring us… We already had zombies, ghosts and aliens. The next logical monster (at least for me) would be vampires.

Nice town though! I especially like your Squidport and Monsarno complex. Might have to borrow your tw idea! Squidport is one thing I haven’t finished. Just too much hassle to build those tiles.
Hope you don’t mind my dumping ground in SH and Burns Manor. I was designing his place for a while but it ended up being a temporary dump unfortunately. Planning on buying more land after I splurge on some Halloween and Christmas freemium decorations.

My eastern edge has become a bit of a dumping ground, too…haven’t had a chance to figure out how to incorporate items from the last two updates yet (or all of those tennis courts I’ve been buying for the bonus %). Also, while I think the monorail is cool, I’m not sure that I like what it’s done to the look of certain parts of town.
The best way to deal with getting Squidport tiles is to just keep making them, even if you’re not ready to use them. I have 23 of them in inventory right now (with another one underway), even though I don’t have any current plans for them. I started doing that during/after the Terwillger event, when I was wishing I had a whole bunch of tiles to make a place for my opera house and had to temporarily borrow them from other parts of Squidport (like my lighthouse pier), to make a place to put it. Since then, I’ve just kept making them (since money really isn’t a problem at this point), especially since I’m at the point where it takes 3 days to make 1 tile!
I look forward to looking at your town tonight…when I added you last night, I was already past your part of the alphabet, so I had to put off visiting. Oh, and feel free to “steal” any designs you like!
(Did you check out my Dr. Marvin Monroe’s building “tableau”? And for Springfield Heights, I like my seaside “Springfield Heights Promenade” condo development and my “Springfield Park” mansion apartments development. Ooh, and another personal favorite is my farmer’s market and farm area. I don’t have the creativity and skills to do the amazing 3-D stuff I’ve seen in other towns, or the 2-D artwork that Bunny does, but I do try to make my town “logical” and pleasant to look at and live in…)
I have absolutely no idea what to do with my monorail either. I’ve got a nice stockpile of track pieces in inventory but no desire to build a track, I don’t really like the way it obscures a lot of the town (unless you place them along the top against the mountains, which would require me to move my ENTIRE town down a few squares, which is absolutely not happening).
And I was building tiles for a while there (mine take 2 days to build now), but they added so many new freemium buildings that I’m catching up with those now. I like your opera house set up 🙂
Let me know what you think when you get the chance. I’m pretty proud of my Krustyland and the kids area I made near the tapball stadium.
I like the seaside condo area you made too! Can’t wait to start designing SH, I started with the palm trees along the edge, designed the coffee shop and made a playground for the school but that’s about it.
And I love the farm area, that’s the next big area I have to make, planning on buying all the land behind my Burns Manor and putting the farms there, Shotgun Pete’s, the lake, Seething Sisters, etc. Really wanna make some fenced in crop areas with pumpkin patches, plum trees, etc.
Hey Neighbor-eeno’s! I took a tip from my own city of Seattle whose monorail is just a couple of miles long (not knowing we’d have the railyard to extend it and also dreading the prospect of redesigning the entire outskirts of my town) my DT monorail is nearly complete with minimal redesign needed. My SH Mall-o-Rail is even smaller, skirting just my promenade but I’ll still need a few weeks of grinding to get all those straight track (so much for relaxing between events) and I’m even toying with using all those curved and S piece scrap tracks for a sketchy Moonshine Run from my Cletus inspired terminal to the GridIron and ShotKickers. More than the Monorail blocking buildings, I’m bugged it blocks my DT pedestrians.
My big design struggle is needing to create a kind of seedy diner/Apt complex area. I’ve moved Krabappel’s Apt.’s more times than I can remember. You can always tell when I’m uncommitted when there is no landscaping around something.
I always look forward to open thread when I can ‘chat’ with our happy little community.
