Should I Spend Donuts on Johnny Tightlips and Plato’s Casino?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Level 58 hit our devices last week and with it arrived a little taste of the Vegas Mob…Johnny Tightlips and Plato’s casino!   Now I know you may be trying to decide if this is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Johnny to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this mobster to YOUR Springfield!

        Johnny Tightlips Plato's Casino

Building/Decoration: Plato’s Republic Casino
Character: Johnny Tightlips
Donut Price: 175 donuts
Earns: $300, 30xp/12hrs
Conform-O-Meter: No impact
Size: 13×8
Level Requirement: Must be at Level 58, unless offered Early Access when the update first hit

Pros:
-Comes with a quest line
-Premium character earns 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character
-Building is animated when in use, and will be in use with several of Johnny’s tasks.
-Voiced

Cons:
-Pricey.  A bit on the high side for the character/building combo
-No conform-o-meter impact.
-No character interaction after initial questline.

Final Thought:
Premium Take:
This is a combo I like, mostly because I love the Vegas Mob history.  So it just reminds me of that.  But it’s also not a bad buy.  While I’m not a fan of the price, I do like the fact that Johnny is voiced and will use the casino for several tasks.  Plus he’s got some fun outdoor tasks.  So in my opinion if you’re a premium player this is one combo to pick up.

Freemium Take:
Freemium players this is one of those “eh” combos.  There are far better combos in the game for the donuts and nostalgia factor of TSTO than this one.  I think the 175 donuts pushes this out of the freemium list for me.  You’re better off saving your donuts for Akira…

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you I will be purchasing this combo.    However, this is NOT a Limited-Time Item so take your time with your thought process.  Johnny will still be there in a few weeks.  So if you’re on the fence or worried about saving up your donuts relax..there’s no rush to get him.

Johnny’s Permanent Tasks:

  1. Can you place the casino on Squidport tiles?

  2. Should I buy this or the Springfield museum? I only have 200 donuts but both seems to be a great rebate

    • With the rebates, it doesn’t really matter which one you get…get whichever you like better for your town

      • I decided to get Malloy & the museum first since he gives 1 donut after quests completion. Trying to get 75 more donuts to get Johnny before the rebate ends..wish me luck!!

  3. I was able to get Johnny Tightlips today at a rebate. He’s one of my favorite characters,so I would have spent the full price, but I think he’s a great character at 125 donuts. .

  4. he’s so awesome, one of the coolest premium characters

Honestly, they’ve thrown so many events at us lately, I haven’t been bothering with the premium items that come with the levels, since they aren’t limited time. “I’m saving my donuts for the next event since these aren’t limited time” seems to have become my personal mantra over the past few months. I haven’t bought any Stacey things, holding off on Belle, etc.

I’m a premium player, and have spent a lot on the game. It just seems like everything is so expensive lately, and I’m having to be much more judicious in how I spend those precious sprinkles. Although I am enjoying getting the donuts from the railyard. That was a nice move on EA’s part. Now, if only they’d fix the bugs, that’d be awesome.

  6. I did buy the casino in my A game, but am now wondering why? The questline isn’t that funny & it was a big cost for a building & character combo. It takes up a lot of space, which may become a bigger issue in towns as large as mine with limited space.

I have not bought on my freemium B game.

  7. Sorry I skipped ahead after reading the post & needed to reply for Crusty Krusty – My daughter is in IT & suggests if you are on an old ipad, as I am, do not update, as there is a built in obsolescence with the update for older devices. Evidently this causes lags & crashing (so you go out & buy the latest device) She has told me NOT to update any ios on my very old ipad.

As a side note I have experienced missing monies & etc both in my 2 towns & in others since this new level hit. No other dramas though! What I do now when visiting neighbours is never tap on houses or Kwikies unless that’s all that’s available. Seems to be working foir visits at least!

  8. -No conform-o-meter impact.
-No character interaction after initial questline
-No way EA (will think about it after Xmas Sent IF EA allows for all Springfield Characters to go Gamble inside Plato’s Casino)

Johnny Tightlips reminds me of Dean Martin as Matt Helm 🙂

  9. I was an early updater last week when the Monorail event ended and lost all level 57 progress and buildings. When applying the patch the buildings came back but not the progress (I know you’ve covered this already!). I had characters simultaneously on jobs for different stages of the quest line. Neither Level 57 quest lines could be completed they just sort of cancelled each other out. Now my main concern is that my game still says Level 56 and I’m about to reach the XP target… will I have to relive the nightmare of level 57 again or will it put me on 58 where I should be? Is anyone else suffering with this problem (iOS) or just me?

I’m also getting hit with the ‘no money icons over buildings’ debacle. I’ve tried too many times to get through to EA.

Still love the game but this is a test!

    Still love tstoaddicts.

    thanks guys.

    • I started over with 57 also. Didn’t mind though, because I got the donuts twice! Getting close to finishing it again. But I did have to redo all the stories.

  10. Sadly, I’ve recently lost my job so my Premium status is on hold for the time being (well, I do have some donut held over from before I was laid off, but I’m saving those for the holidays). This saddens me as I too am a fan of the Vegas Mob genre. And with Ceasar’s casino, SF Downs, Shotgun Pete’s, Classy Girls, Florence, maybe Disco Stu’s… add in Plato’s and it’d be easy to make a “Little Vegas Strip” in Springfield. Ah well… Fortunately, Plato’s isn’t limited time, so it’ll be around once my cashflow improves.

Anyway, I got a question, in the article you list “No character interaction after initial questline” as a Con, but Johnny has tasks at the Casino… When he’s doing those tasks, does Plato’s not animate? Or perhaps I’m misunderstanding what you mean by no character interaction?

  11. Erika Fournier (BraveElfgirl1994)

Im savin my donuts for Halloween 🙂

  12. Looking at my character list I see a helicopter/drone in Animals and Pets. Did I miss something? And how do you get it?

  13. I aint sayin’ nothing about getting nobody

  14. Another pro is that there are freemium items designed for this building.

  15. Off topic, regarding the update issues…I successfully updated to 4.16.9 on my Android without issues. I would prefer to play on my iPad but the only version available is 4.16.8 still. I’d really hate to deal with rollback or lose items esp. my new tennis courts. Should I refrain from updating my iPad (still running iOS 8 btw) or would it be safe to go ahead at this point?

  16. Taxes on my houses keep disappearing before I get to collect. How do I fix this. I have A lot of houses so I’m missing out on a lot of points. I have an iPad Air with iOS 8.4

  17. Not only do I think this is too pricey, but the last thing my Springfield needs is yet another pink building. (This was also basically my thought process on Malibu Stacey.)

  18. Is anyone else having issues with completing the monorail tasks but not receiving the tracks? Mine is stuck on level 3 and it just keeps adding to my total but I haven’t received the 3 track pieces. Sorry if this was discuss in another post. 🙁

  19. Long since bought. Was freemium for a month or three, but fully premium and not regretting it, although not admitting outside of addicts, since about March.

  20. I think I’ll get Belle before him. I have my donuts boxed up until Halloween or a (crossing fingers) mini-event before hand.

He reminds me of Dean Martin (design wise) would like to see an episode where he comes out of his shell and breaks into Karaoke’s “That’s Amore”

  21. Am I gonna buy him? I ain’t sayin’ nuttin’.

  22. I will definitely be getting this, as soon as the Level 58 stuff with the Squealer is all done.

Besides, how can you NOT want a character named Johnny Tightlips!! The name alone makes me want to watch Goodfellas or Casino!

  23. I love all the mob simpsons so yes this is on my list of when I can…but for now waiting for Halloween ☆
