Tapped Out Level Walkthroughs: Level 57, Old Jewish Man in Old Gray Marriage

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Level 57 hit our Tapping Devices recently, and with it arrived a classic Simpsons character…Old Jewish Man!

While we’ve had the Turbo Tappin’ walkthrough up since the update first hit (you can view it here) I know many of you still love going back and reading old walkthroughs.  They’re great if you missed any of the dialogue while playing the level, or if you just want to know what to expect when you reach Level 57.  So for those that may have missed it (or for those of you that want to live it again)…I bring you the pants dropping excitement of Level 57…

Old Gray Marriage Pt. 1
Homer starts

Homer: Happy Birthday, Dad!
Grampa:
Another year has passed? Hot diggity! Take that, Death, my team of doctors, that fortune teller, and all sense of reason!
Homer:
And to celebrate we’re taking you someplace special.
Grampa:
Last time you said that you took me to the Retirement Castle. And the time before that, you mugged me and left me in the woods.
Homer:
I left you in the woods and THEN you got mugged. But this time, we’re really taking you out for real. With all that money we got from mugging you.
Grampa:
So where are we going? The Gilded Truffle? El Chemistri?
Homer:
Even better – a greasy roadside diner! Wait, did I say better? I meant much worse.

Grampa:
Who? Jasper Beardly? Hans Moleman?
Homer:
No, the other one. The one who isn’t quite important enough to warrant having a name.
Grampa:
Why! I haven’t seen you around for ages. I assumed you died!
Old Jewish Man:
Technically I did… several times! But it takes more than a couple strokes to stop Ol’ What’s-My-Name!

Old Gray Marriage Pt. 2
Old Jewish Man starts

Old Jewish Man: I have to admit I’ve been lonely ever since my wife passed on. Sometimes I just walk around in her heels and pearls.
Grampa:
To keep her memory alive?
Old Jewish Man:
Sure, let’s go with that.
Grampa:
Why don’t you move in with me? It’ll cure your loneliness, and I’ll have someone to wake me from my night terrors.
Old Jewish Man:
Good idea! Us old fogeys gotta stick together — we’re a dying breed you know!

Homer starts

Old Jewish Man: This one’s to keep my heart working. This one’s to keep my liver functioning. These just keep me alive. Where are all my fun pills?
Homer:
So Dad, for the rest of your birthday I thought I’d take you to the movies. Or just go to the movies myself using your senior discount and let you sit in the car.
Grampa:
No can do, sonny, I’ve got plans tonight.
Old Jewish Man:
Yeah, Abe and I are going to the drive-in. We’ll see a movie AND sit in a parked car.
Grampa:
We’re a regular Odd Couple. He’s the old, deaf one with a bad memory.
Homer:
And which are you?
Grampa:
Huh? What are you talking about?
Old Jewish Man:
I’ve got a pill to help rememberin’! And a pill to help spice things up in the bedroom! And a pill to help find the bedroom!

Old Jewish Man Starts

Old Jewish Man: I can’t find my Jammitin pills! Now I’ll never be able to hold hands with a woman while sitting in separate outdoor bathtubs.
Grampa:
Keep your filthy fantasies to yourself! And even if you find your pills, where will you find a woman?
Old Jewish Man:
Hey! I’ve got women following me around everywhere! Helping me in and out of chairs, wearing white, giving me pudding.
Grampa:
Those are nurses, you idiot! And most of them are men.
Old Jewish Man:
Oy, I miss having a wife — the conversation, the living together, the helping me out of bed at night to pee.
Grampa:
 I do all those things.
Old Jewish Man:
And then there’s the tax break.
Grampa:
Well, we don’t have that… but maybe we could. You and I could get married!
Old Jewish Man:
What?! You mean like a gay marriage?
Grampa:
Why not! Gay guys have been fakin’ straight marriages since the New Deal! We could be straight guys in a gay marriage!

Bart:

At this point Rev. Lovejoy will start the Shotgun Wedding Questline (once Pete’s a built)

Shotgun Wedding
Rev. Lovejoy starts

Rev. Lovejoy: Hm, the collection plate’s a little shallow this week.  And the church — more specifically the engine on the model train I keep in the basement of the church — is in need of repairs.  Maybe I can make a little extra scratch on the side… honeymoon-lighting.

Grampa:
I’m banned from the Lucky Loaves bakery/casino since they caught me counting breadsticks, so it’ll have to be you.
Old Jewish Man:
I guess I can dust off my old vaudeville act.  Probably should update a few references’ how old’s the Lindbergh baby these days?

Old Jewish Man starts

Old Jewish Man: These kids today are mean. The crowd pelted me with organic tomatoes. So plump and juicy, they really splat when they hit your face.
Grampa:
Well, did you bring any home? We’re on a fixed income.
Old Jewish Man:
No but I did get the hot volunteer’s phone number. She’s getting slip bars installed in her hot tub.
Grampa:
What! I’m starting to think you aren’t taking this sham marriage seriously!
Old Jewish Man:
I can’t live like this! I’m going to say something I never thought I’d say – I want a divorce cobunkulous.  Oy, I think that last bit might have been a stroke.

Grampa:
Can’t complain! Except that I’ve been a little lonely. And I have what the doctors are calling super shingles.
Old Jewish Man:
I’m lonely myself. Got out of a relationship recently, I think.
Grampa:
Maybe we should move in together.
Old Jewish Man:
Or better yet, let’s get married! The tax breaks would be a real boon.
Grampa:
What a great idea! I can’t believe I’ve never thought of it before. Those savings will help pay for these bills I’ve been getting from a divorce lawyer.

Old Jewish Man starts

Dr. Hibbert:
You came to the right place! We’ve got pills for just about everything as long as it’s not life threatening and you’re not poor!

Old Jewish Man:
It’s 5:00 AM. Of course we’ve had breakfast!  If you sleep away half the day, you’ll never have time for your afternoon and evening naps.

Old Jewish Man:
How about the Overpass Diner? It’s got grit, grime, and other things I like on a sandwich.
Grampa:
They’ve even got a senior discount: have two heart attacks here and you get a plate of hard-boiled eggs on the house!

It’s a fun update to keep us busy tapping for a bit!

If you run the Level 57 questline from start to finish, without using donuts, it will take you 7 days and 13hrs to complete (of course you could save 48hrs off of that time by building Shotgun Pete’s and the Geriatric Medicine building ahead of their points in the questline) if you don’t have Jasper and and additional 4hrs if you have Jasper.

What do YOU think of Level 57?  Were you happy with the character choice?  How about the dialogue so far?  Thoughts on yet another diner in Springfield? Where have you placed the Overpass Diner in your Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I have passed level 60, so that doesn’t seem to be an issue.. but it’s not that the eat at the diner tasks are locked up for the Simpsons family, it does not even show in their lists, locked or otherwise.

  2. I built the Overpass Diner at least several days ago, but none of the Simpsons have a task available to eat there… and so it isn’t progressing at all, and I can’t figure out how to get it to start. I’ve tried putting it into storage, then back out, didn’t help. Reloaded game. Same.

  3. Seems like my daughter was having the same issues, she was able to buy the building, but still couldn’t get the tasks to go for her even though she was level 59.. I told her to do as I did and just wait for another level increase, well that happened and nothing.. hmm, maybe my first assessment was wrong. Then I noticed she had not yet built the Seething Sisters.. (personally I build every building no matter what if I can at the moment I can) She usually goes only for buildings that give characters. She didn’t have a lot of money and finally talked her into buying the Seething Sisters.. 24hrs later and Kaboom!…and still nothing.. waited for all characters to be finished with whatever tasks and…still nothing.. still not sure what to do.. and kept waiting eventually she was up for a mother level increase… bonus donuts and then a new task pops up for the old jewish man! So it looks like you will need the Seething Sisters in your town before any of the tasks will start. Still not entirely sure if you absolutely need to level up, but you may have to as in my daughters case.. I think this solves the mystery if you are having this issue:

Built the Overpass and have the Old Jewish Man nut the story will not progress:

    Build the Seething Sisters.

    May need to level up.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Ok I figured out what happened, I think. Well I placed the Dinner and built it as it was in my store, but I had no task to actually build it? Maybe this was a small glitch, I was of the level requirements in XP but in story I don’t think I was up to that point, which I don’t know why it would’ve let me buy it and place it without the XP requirements, Glitch? Not sure but I just kept playing and eventually it just started…not sure why but for some reason when I reached level 59 it just started.. maybe it was just stuck.. maybe I still don’t understand the double level/xp requirements (thought I did) anyway if you like me for some reason can’t get this tasks started even thought you were able to build it, just continue on and raise your level and it should unstick it and get you going.

  5. I am having the same problem as ADAMHANLEY1 and CHAD I have built the Dinner and I can’t get his other quest to start. His dialogue didn’t even come up for the second part of his quest after it was built. I have now even surpassed this and built the Danger pool and those quest lines are continuing as they should. I have tried storing the diner and bringing back but no such luck the first task/quest of: “Dine at the Over Pass Dinner” is locked for every one of my Simpsons.

Has anyone found a walk around on this to fix it or are other experiencing the same problem? Should I just contact EA on this?

    • UPDATE: Well since no on had anything on this I just let it sit and low and behold it will fix it self. I had all quest done done for everyone as stated, but for some reason after I leveled up again in XP which put me to Level 59 the quest finally started.. and the other two quests also started, so I think if your having this particular problem just level up in XP and see if that forces the quest to start.

  6. Hi

For some reason the quest line won’t start for me after placing the diner. Any ideas?

    Cheers Adam

    • Make sure everyone involved is not on another task and you cleared all the requirements after placing it. Check your task menu to see what is still open.

      • adamhanley1@gmail.com

Thanks but I only have Springfield heights quests to do and I need to build the danger pool. Also all of my buildings are active with animations as if permanently being tapped on.

        Kind Regards, Adam Hanley

  7. Old Jewish Man & Abraham Simpson were quite the Couple (this Task had me giggling) …. Will EA change it so that other Senior Citizens of Springfield can visit the new Clinic? 🙂

  8. I wish they’d give him a name. I think it’s a bit sad. 🙁

  9. I was having serious trouble trying to get them to go get a divorce. I just wanted them to stay married. But in fear that I won’t be able to get a new level up without finishing the story line I gave in to the pressure 🙁

  10. Loved the dialogue in this level.

Now it’s time for Halloween, Halloween, Halloween!!!

  11. Like the building but fear I’m a long way off level 57 gameplay ……patience 🙈 🙉 🙊
