Welcome to the Lifestyles of the Springfield Rich & Famous… errr… well, to a site writing about a new rich people expansion in TSTO. In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?
So the Springfield Heights expansion brought us lots of new items with confounding leveling up of buildings, real estate values and tap-tap-tappery. Of course, it also brought lots of new stuff to find in the Best. Show. Ever. The second real estate prize was the Flying Car. Am I alone in immediately identifying this one as the car from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?
But wait a tick… how could that car possibly have anything to do with The Simpsons? When and where did this one appear in the show? Well, that’s my gig here so let’s find out.
So this new decoration truly is a one blip wonder. In the opening sequence at the very beginning of “Boy Meets Curl” (S21:E12), our favorite cartoon family can be seen in Chitty flying right in front of The Simpsons lettering.
The same exact fly-by was used in “Labor Pains” (S25:E5) but that’s really it. A quick blip that if you didn’t know about the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or these episodes makes no sense. What do you think about it? Happy to have earned it? Wish our favorite family had a task in it? Love the movie it comes from? Sound off and keep on tapping at those Heights.

And I definitely thought of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang when I saw it. One of my favorite movies when I was little.

When I first placed this, I thought there was an animation when tapped – the car lifted and the wings flapped out. Now nothing. Am I just crazy?

I still find myself staring at that “Pet” category and wondering why EA hasn’t dropped it in the game yet. I have a couple crazy ideas of what it can do (Hoping it’s not a normal pointless NPC) and Hears another crazy idea. What if it hovered over the epicenter of the most efficient/populous point (meaning the spot to tap in order to collect the most tax and experience from buildings and characters)?… After that tap moves to the next best epicenter…. That would be cool and help me in my grand pursuit of laziness. :p

When Springfield Heights landed and that was one of the prizes, I was really puzzled — “Why in the world is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in TSTO?” Then about a week later I was watching one of the FXX marathons and they showed one of those two episodes (can’t remember which) and I had that lightbulb moment. Bizarre to me that they introduced a blink-and-you-missed-it credits gag into the game before so many other classic things, but I’m happy to have it!
I love having it…… Just wish it would fly!
I was excited to get it and then when I did I saw it does nothing. Not even hover like the helicopter. Big letdown
Though I do like the Movie “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” (except for that Children Snatcher) the car in the game is Meh to me.
But to add items purely from Show Openers opens a new door (though we did see the Frozen-esque Ice Castle). But this leads me into something I was thinking of last night, if we have the giant stone head Mr. Burns gave the Simpsons that they later stuck in the basement, why not another Iconic Simpsons House Item …. The Couch! (Yes we don’t have Maggie Yet but maybe if we do we could also get a Couch Gag Visual Task). I can dream, can’t I?
So EA can unload all the one time sight gags they want but when it comes to things that are important to me it has to be in Multiple Episodes (Maggie and yes, the Couch itself).
I thought the same thing……that child catcher was a scary moment in the film to youngsters ….but Benny Hill was the toy maker, ….was the original book by Ian Flemming more famous for James Bond ?
