THOH Prize Guide: Act 1, Prizes 1 and 2…Crafting Materials and the Spooky Cabin

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Well here we are, in most Tappers favorite time of the year in Springfield….Halloween!  (although I prefer Christmas 😉 )  The leaves on the tress have changed colors, the water is murky and there’s a darkness that falls over our TSTO screens.  All of these effects fit in perfectly with this year’s theme….Nightmares.

This Event is broken up into 3 Acts, with each Act containing part of the story.  To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act.  Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event.  For the first Act you’re tasked with collecting S’mores (ico_thoh2015_smores_md) to unlock each prize!

The first Act 1 prize awarded at 180 ico_thoh2015_smores_md is a supply of Crafting Resources to help you craft fun prizes during the event!

And the second Act 1 prize awarded at 540 ico_thoh2015_smores_md (or +360ico_thoh2015_smores_md, from Prize 1) is the Spooky Cabin, an all new “house” for your Springfield….

2015-10-09 18.49.04

So let’s take a closer look at these first two prizes and just what happens when you unlock them in your Springfield…

Let’s start with Prize 1….

Once you’ve collected 180 ico_thoh2015_smores_md  you’ll automatically be awarded the crafting resources and you’ll see this message popup:

2015-10-09 18.48.59

There won’t be anything to place in your Springfield and you won’t have to do anything additional to get these resources.  Simply earn 180 ico_thoh2015_smores_md and they’ll automatically go into your resource counter.

So how many of each resource do you get for this first prize?  It’s broken out like this:

50 ico_thoh2015_zombiebrains_md
50 ico_thoh2015_snakeeggs_md
50 ico_thoh2015_bunnyears_md
50 ico_thoh2015_skeletonbones_md

And that’s it for the details on the first prize!  For more information about crafting (including what you can craft during Act 1, and how to) check out this post all about crafting during Act 1.

Now let’s move onto Prize #2…

Once you’ve collected 540 ico_thoh2015_smores_md  (or 360 more ico_thoh2015_smores_md from prize one) you’ll automatically be awarded the Spooky cabin and you’ll see this message popup:

2015-10-09 18.49.17

You’ll have the ability to place the statue in your Springfield immediately or place it in inventory for later (store).  If you store it, remember you’ll have to go into your inventory to retrieve it..

If you decide to place it it does have a build time associated with it of 4 hours.

And that’s really it to the second prize.  There’s no questline, no dialogue, nothing telling you to place it in your Springfield to earn more ico_thoh2015_smores_md.  Just win the prize and that’s it.

Here are some quick facts about the Spooky Cabin:

Spooky_Cabin

Size: 7×5
Build Time: 4hrs
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Tree-Hugging +10
Where Can I Place It?: Grass/Pavement
Earns: $200, 20xp/12hrs
What Does it Do?:  Not a whole lot.  It basically just sits there, like most buildings in Springfield 😉

What’s Next?
Kang Pirate Pirate Kang  the third prize, which will be awarded at 2,160 ico_thoh2015_smores_md (or +1,620 ico_thoh2015_smores_md from the Spooky Cabin).  This will be the next prize we cover in a prize rundown post.

So that my friends is the full breakdown of the first two THOH Act 1 prizes!

  1. Hey everybody, i was wondering what will happen when you can’t finnish act 1 prices. i still need 3000 smores to unlock gate to nowhere. i’m afraid i won’t make it 🙁

    • We really won’t know until Act II but for the last couple events, they made any prize you did not get to available for donuts. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did that again.

  2. The oddest things tend to trouble me, and I’ve been trying to decide since this blog has been posted, would a house just “sit” there, or “stand” there….or merely just “stay” there 😀

  3. Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if the crafting resources will change with act 2? I have plenty of dead trees and skeleton trees and have crafted the new items and have all of what I wanted of those. Just wondering if stockpiling the snake eggs, bunny ears, brains, and bones is going to give me a jump start for act 2. Any thoughts on that? Thanks!

  4. The Spooky Shed is the one where the wood over the door moves when tapped. It’s a decoration. The Spooky Cabin is a building (i.e. it produces income) so when you tap it, it doesn’t animate, just pops up a dialog showing what it pays. It’s rare for a building to animate on its own unless it’s occupied; I haven’t seen the Spooky Cabin do so.

    • (That was supposed to be a reply to the post from TSTO Addict, not a new comment.)

    • My buildings have been animating randomly a lot this event. (Maybe they’re haunted?) But the Spooky Cabin (the one with income) doesn’t do anything when tapped, but it does an animation – the door moves and a tentacle pokes out from under the wall.

      • I wish my Spooky Cabin were haunted like that, but mine just sits there, even if I watch it forever (assuming forever is roughly 30 seconds, which is when I get bored).

That’s it, the next mobile device I buy is gonna be made on an ancient Indian burial ground!

(Or cursed in some other way. But I don’t think TSTO runs on Windows Phone.)

  5. I just got a quest to make a wailing wall, but these are not part of the list to craft. Also, my “House of Evil” shop has a clock floating above it. You can’t tap the clock. It just brings up the info on the shop. Weird! Anyone else have this going on?

  6. My game constantly crashes (10X and I’m only on the “Ks”!) when visiting friends neighborhoods. Anyone else having this trouble?

    • Lots of folks reporting lagging, etc. when visiting neighbors. Definitely slower for me and I have one neighbor who consistently boots me out of the game (so I unfortunately have to skip them).

  7. need lots of friends so please be kind

  8. Good afternoon tappers. I need your opinions. So I have crafted all the items from part 1. Should I craft some multiples like the money earning house, or should I stockpile my items for part 2? Thanks in advance

    • I don’t know. I have asked the same question, but cant get my comments moderated.

      • It’s called Sunday, Alissa is away. Wookiee is away. I am trying to relax…so… patience. 😉

      • I’m sorry Bunny. I had 3 posts before all of these. Just sending up a flag to remind you that I am here. I always seem to offend you.

        • No offense taken… you assume that too quickly. I just commented because you stated you couldn’t get your comments moderated. Letting you know why. It is common on weekends for us to take a much needed and deserved break from the sites. So… all will take time. No one has to remind us they’re here, but it seems we do need to remind others that we need and deserve a break to do real life stuff too. 🙂

    • Don’t use up all your crafting resources now, in case you want to craft something cool ASAP when it comes out (or if there’s, say, a task down the road that requires you to craft something). It looks to me like crafting resources will be plentiful in this event, but perhaps the next act will offer a money-earning building that you’ll prefer to have in multiples, rather than the current building. All the current craftables should remain through the whole event, so there’s no hurry to craft lots now.

  9. I just watched Treehouse of Horror IV and saw the model donut at the beginning ! So awesome! I totally forgot about that… Anyway, you may get to this in a future post, but does the campfire come from a particular episode?

  10. I see my neighbors with the stuff from the whacking day event and I get sad because I wasn’t playing during that event 🙁 I would love another whacking day event, but I don’t think it’ll happen

  11. I’m wondering if anyone else is having this problem, if it is indeed a problem, I’m currently on the prize track to earning Model Donut which is 2880 s’mores but my counter reads 3829 s’mores. Whenever I tap new s’mores my counter appears to go up quicker, where as the prize track barely seems to move. Any thoughts?

  12. I pray that act 2 gives us something better because I could care less about the walking female donut

  13. Agree, prizes are a bit lame, but loving the event. Just wish all my characters from previous THOT events all had tasks to earn relevant items. Seems only Count Burns can earn brains for a task. Marge the witch and devil flanders don’t.
Don’t mind that that fallout boy doesn’t earn smores as allowing me to progress ‘ my brother’s keeper’ by sending him multiple times to’s at lunch at desk’!

    • This is my first Halloween event and I had a question about the years before. Will we see Halloween items in the store that we can buy for in-game money like jack-o-lanterns or pumpkins of some type or any decoration or are the only items we get are the items we craft?

  14. Hi, if you’re having trouble with craft-material releasing items (snake logs, freakmobile, pet cem., mausoleum) that change the spawned nightmare, or just stuff goes crazy… try placing those items well away from each other and the campfire so that when you collect on them you can space out time to tap spawn.
I found this solved the problem for me….not having everything go off at once.

  15. Is there any reason to believe crafting material will carry over to Act2? For instance, Rabbit ears. Should I just use them now,(since all I can get with them is Spooky Trees), or save them(I have a lot)?

  16. Should I be banking my resources once I’ve crafted one of each item, to be ready for future craftables? Or use up my balances now?

I can’t recall previous events – do the resources change or clear out at the end of each Act?

  17. This is the best paced event thus far. Good balance, non stressful feeling I have to constantly be Checkihg in. Last years THOH was a mess and didn’t finish the acts or even have enough crafting materials for things. Hope future ones follow along.

Although too bad there wasn’t an 8hr campfire tasks or something for bedtime.

  18. Why do i still have green and orange snakes in my town? I tap them both and get crafting materials, but only seem to get “credit” for the orange ones. Any thoughts?

  19. Can you change the storyteller by rushing it and reset it to another one and it change the kids listening, with out rushing them ?

    See ya bye . 🌞 💎 .

    • If you change it… it will only change for NEW tasks … not ones already in progress

      • Thank you .

I thought it would not work , but was worth asking. I had just hit all snakes when it change to bunnies.
        🎃🎃🎃🎃🐍🐍🐍🐍🐰🐰🐰🐰🐉🐉🐉🐉🐇🐇🐇🐇🎃🎃🎃🎃

        See ya bye . 🌞 💎 .

    • Two donuts to rush so you can start a new story and then the kids listening it’s also two donuts per kid

  20. Anyone elses game crashing when visiting neighbours? Been trying to get through them but it crashes on different ones each time. Not sure if its me or them or the game?! Am on android if that makes any difference 😛

    • Lots of folks reporting major frustration with visiting neighbors during this event. Hopefully EA has a plan to fix this.

    • Julie (Jsander321)

My game doesn’t crash while visiting neighbors – it just now literally takes twice as long as normal. A small part of that is me looking for tiny nightmares to tap in very full towns. The majority is the lag time on the main screen when I switch from one neighbor to the next. I still visit ALL my neighbors, I have around 60 or so, but during this event it now takes about an hour!!

      • Also, why do we need to know WHERE the nightmares goes in neighbors town? It just makes visiting neighbors take longer. I think when the game has to render the neighbors town so quickly when we place nightmares, its contributes to the crashes.

  21. Is there a list of all the kids that can make s’mores somewhere? (I remember there being a similar list for the Terwilliger Event but I can’t seem to find it.)
