Well here we are, in most Tappers favorite time of the year in Springfield….Halloween! (although I prefer Christmas 😉 ) The leaves on the tress have changed colors, the water is murky and there’s a darkness that falls over our TSTO screens. All of these effects fit in perfectly with this year’s theme….Nightmares.
As we’ve seen with recent events (really since Stonecutters in June of 2014), EA likes to add an element of Daily Challenges to each Event as a way to earn more currency, special prizes and sometimes event bonuts! (bonus donuts) The 2015 THOH Event is no different. Yesterday we saw the Shop Keeper’s Challenge get implemented with the House of Evil! This is a great way to do tasks each day to earn bonus crafting currency and earn bonuts each week!
Now I know some of you are a bit confused about the challenges and exactly what to do. So let’s break it all down for you…including a list of this week’s challenges…
So as Bunny broke down in yesterday’s post…to get the Daily Challenges you need the House of Evil. Now some of you may have it from previous THOH Events (which I did) and some of you may not. If you don’t have it you’ll be awarded it for free once you trigger the challenges.
So now let’s cover some basics…
When Does a new Task Start?
Tasks unlock at 8am LOCAL TIME each day. So whatever part of the world you’re in at 8am your time the next day’s task will unlock.
Do I Only Have 24hrs to Finish Each Task?
No. If you don’t finish Day 1 when Day 2 unlocks it’ll still allow you to finish Day 1. And You don’t have to finish them in order. So basically Day 1 will roll over into Day 2 if you don’t finish it before Day 2 unlocks. And you can do both Day 1 and Day 2’s tasks.
You just can’t jump ahead. So you can go backwards and finish a task, but you can’t move forward until that day unlocks.
So How Long Do I Have to Complete Each Week’s Challenges?
You have a full week (7 days) to complete the 5 challenges. The Challenges will reset each week on Monday, so if you don’t complete the 5 by the time they reset you’ll miss out.
Today’s Challenge Says I Have to Squish Zombies, Can I Squish Them in a Neighbor’s Town and Have them Count?
Yes and no. As long as you still have your neighbor actions available (remember it’s only 90/day) if you tap ZOMBIES in your neighbor’s town it’ll count toward the Zombie total. But if you’ve used all your neighbor actions already it will not count. (this same principle applies to upgrading..if you need Zombies to upgrade and you’ve maxed out your friend actions for the day they won’t count towards the upgrade total).
And I think that addresses most of your Daily Challenge concerns…
So now let’s take a look at what we can expect from the Daily Challenges this week:

If you complete all 5 challenges before the reset you’ll be awarded 20 Bonuts!

This weeks last challange dont work for me. I finnished all other tasks. And when i try to get to the task. The game moves to brown house and tell me Go to krusty burger. When im at new krusty burger i cant get the young. only adults shows up for tasks
Don’t use the “do it” option. Just go to the Brown house. If you have a TON Of them, you’ll have to find the main one
I only have 3 brown houses and it won’t let complete this challenge make youngsters hunt nightmares
What part of the main questline are you on though? You have to be AT the Nightmare point in the Questline to be able to do them too. 🙂

For today’s challenge the brown house isn’t spawning any skeletons to squish. Anyone else having this problem??
You can either wait until tomorrow and see if they spawn, or contact EA. If they don’t spawn tomorrow for sure contact EA
One of my daily challenges is to squish bunnies. I’ve tapped on loads yet there are still only 17 registered. Why isn’t it including them all?

What is the secret to upgrading the campfire? I have kids telling stories at least 4 times a day. I also have 75 friends that I visit. My campfire count only goes up by 2-7 nightmares! I am at level 5….

Did anyone else end up with 40 donuts? :-/ don’t know what happened, I clicked on crafting, crafted an item and then hit the shopkeeper tab by accident and it popped up another 20 donuts….I had already gotten the 20 donuts for completing the challenge earlier today….
I don’t have snakes to squish. When do they come out? I am on my last day of the daily challenge and no snakes to squish.

I keep forgetting that I have to click “Do it” in the shop before it will register any actions…I was squishing away at snakes but hadn’t clicked “Do It” and my counter didn’t go up. Annoying … (but not one of life’s greater tragedies).
Woohoo – I got my 20 donuts earlier today. I thought I would get 20 donuts for completing every single daily challenge until the end of the event, so this is a very pleasant surprise!
So, my campfire needs me to squish zombies today, which should mean that I’ll need to squish snakes for my campfire tomorrow (I generally level up my campfire once each day). So, although today’s shopkeeper task is to squish snakes, I think I’ll wait until tomorrow to do it. Make sense? Is anyone else planning to go that route? I hope I don’t screw this up, since I’m so close to those bonuts!
I just happened to switch to snakes today so I was lucky on timing. If not for the lucky timing, I would have waited to switch to snakes just like you are planning so I could focus on upgrading the campfire instead. The daily challenges do not reset until Monday so you have Saturday AND Sunday left to squish snakes so I don’t think you will have any trouble getting to 100 snakes before Monday. If you upgrade the fire daily you will squish at least 200 tomorrow, twice what you need for the daily challenge. Also don’t forget that you will probably squish an easy 15-20 snakes today between random nightmares from the gate to nowhere and random snakes found when visiting neighbors. I managed to finish both today, so I’m a happy camper (except I’m worried about those scary-looking tents over at the campsite….)
I was considering that, but stuck with the time-limited task first (especially since I play less on weekends.)
I switched to snakes this morning, then started skeletons (my current level-up squishable) after four hours. I was more than half way to 100 snakes before the four hours were up and just used the “do it” to hunt down the last few I needed for the daily challenge before switching to skeletons for leveling. Not too big a setback, especially for 20 doughnuts. (Especially considering it only costs 2 doughnuts to swap the campfire’s spawn early.)
Just got my 20 donuts, earning sprinklies doesn’t come easier than this. Thanks EA.
Thanks for confirming that it really was 20 donuts for one week’s worth of tasks, not just 5 donuts for each of for week’s worth off tasks! I’m somewhat, and very pleasantly, surprised!

My campfire has me crafting Zombies as I close out my Thursday. Which suggests that tomorrow my campfire will have me crafting snakes – just in time for my Day 5 “Daily Challenge” ( which will require me to craft snakes. Lucked out on this.
If you wanted to really be conservative with your craftable count, the Spooky Tree would be the best item to craft on Thursday. With the reward off 100 bunny (ears), you are really crafting the item for free.
I, however, am paranoid that EA will take all the ACT 1 items away with the intro of ACT 2, so I’ll be inefficiently crafting another Grove.
[Yes, I know Alissa & Bunny have said that the items will remain throughout the whole event, but they ALSO suggested that we craft anything we want!]

What would be really nice is if EA made good on that whole fouled up event they had that left me WITHOUT Father Sean AND Mary Bobbins in both my A and B towns.
How messed up do the odds have to be for not just one but for TWO games to not get either of those characters???
