Where Did THAT Come From: The Shinning Maze

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?

Shinning MAze

This post I will be going over the Origin of the Shinning Maze. An interesting looking Maze from the THOH 2015 Event. Why is it in our games? What is so interesting about a Maze? What does it have to do with Halloween? Let’s dive into the Simpsons TV Series to find out more.

Season 6, Episode 6: Treehouse of Horror V
This Episode is the much awaited, at least in my house, Halloween Episode for the Simpsons. To know more just where the Maze shows up, we have to dive into one of the 3 mini-sodes within this Episode. The Shinning… errrr… I mean the Shin…  (shhhhh don’t want to get sued). In this Parody of a VERY popular Cult Film, we will be following the Simpsons to a Hotel tucked away high in the Snowy Mountains.

Tuesday… The Simpsons have been on a very long drive and they are almost there… just as Marge asks Homer if he remembered to lock the front door. D’OH!

Wednesday… Two long trips and they are once again almost there… until Marge asks Homer if he remembered to lock the back to too. D’OH! D’OH!

Thursday… OH NO! Lisa points out they left Grampa at the Gas Station… but gets crickets. No one cares. I think by this time anyone wouldn’t care at all. They FINALLY arrive and are greeted by Smithers and Mr. Burns.

Mr. Burns escorts the Winter Caretakers around. Explaining it was built on an Indian Burial Ground, Home to Satanic Rituals, and 5 John Denver Christmas Specials. Homer shivers at the Horror. Just then the Elevator opens up and a flood of Blood comes splashing out and flows past them. Mr. Burns remarks that it’s unusual. The Blood usually gets off on the 2nd Floor. Cut to a MASSIVE Maze with Willy out in front watering it.

Shinning Maze

There you have it, a Massive Maze that is a knock off of an Awesome Cult Film I still watch to this day.

What did you think of the Origin? Did you remember seeing it this Episode? Love the Original? Remember how the Original was used?

ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKE BUNNY… SOMETHING SOMETHING…

  1. MOE! Gimme a beer!

  2. If we could buy multiples of this and it cost 20 🍩 each, I would have bought 4 and put them corner to corner to make a massive square maze. But alas. My custom box hedge maze will have to suffice.

  3. I’m A-Mazed Bunny found the time to do this.

Didn’t Bart take a Chainsaw to a Garden Maze? (Don’t know if was in the Popular Parody or a diffrent episode).

To me, Mazes need to have an entrance and exit or at least a middle (the Episode appears to have one, yet the game one does not). mazes are better with designs (words, or pictures from an aerial veiw). And of course the best Mazes are made out of corn [or as Native Americans call it “Maze”]

Maybe you’re thinking of a labyrinth?

      • Actually, a maze has turn choices and dead ends, and you need to actually find your way to the centre and exits. A labyrinth has no wrong turns or dead ends. You simply follow it all the way through. That is the technical difference. (We have a giant place near where I live that has wonderful mazes and labyrinths so “I has been edumacated,” ;))

Fair enough, I didn’t think mazes had centres for some reason.

  4. I had an inquiry. If they bring back the Bad Dream House that’s definitely something I’ll buy IF it’s available to be animated all the time. So my question is (and I already read the SIB but I just want to clarify) does anyone have a task there to keep the windows lit up, or is it one of those questline one-offs where you do it once and never see it animated again?

  5. That was an awesome episode and a great sum up as well! For me however, i dont like the way the maze looks. It would be cooler if it was a massive maze but its dinky. On a side note- im loving this event!

  6. The Hotel should be one of the prizes for this THOH Halloween event.

  7. Go crazy?

  8. This was the first Halloween donuts I spent! I put it behind my spooky house and added some extra square green bushes around to make it look larger. This is all in the middle of my big spooky forest I created just for this event! I tried to make it look like the movie-(spooky mansion with the maze behind in a scary mountain forest) It looks super rad.
