Should I Spend Donuts on Bob’s Victorian House?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s Halloween in Springfield!  And what better way to celebrate Halloween than the traditional Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Episode!  And to tie it all in we received a fun episode tie-in…involving everyone’s favorite criminal Sideshow Bob.     Now I know you may be trying to decide if this is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Building: Bob’s Victorian House
Donut Price: 100 Donuts
Earns: $500, 45xp/24hrs
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +100
Size: 8×5

Leaves stores Monday October 26th..

Pros:
-Comes with a quest line (1 part)
-Unlocks a 4hr quest for Sideshow Bob (Earns $260, 70xp)
-Animated when in use

Cons:
-Pricey for just a building without a character
-No other characters will use, so if you don’t have Sideshow Bob yet it won’t get used.

If you didn’t unlock Sideshow Bob during Terwilligers, here’s how you can get him now.

Final Thought:
Premium:
This on is kind of a premium toss up for me.  It’s expensive and I personally don’t think it’s worth 100 donuts.  But i do like the look of it and it will be used which is another bonus.  So if you’re a premium player you have to outweigh the pros and cons on this.  And when it comes down to it…it’s really about looks on this one.  If you like and have a use/location for it, get it.  If not pass.  Again 100 donuts is a bit steep for this…

Freemium:
Stay away on this one.  100 donuts is just to steep of a price for a freemium player.  You’re much better off saving your donuts for a character/building combo and passing  on this one.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you I’m on the fence with this one as a premium player.  I like the look but 100 donuts is pretty steep…in the end I think I’ll end up getting it, but it’ll probably be a last minute decision.    However, this IS a limited-time item.  So if you’re thinking about getting it make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games on October 26th.

Here’s a look at the short questline associated with the house:

Fiend Book Official
Sideshow Bob starts

Sideshow Bob: It is a peaceful life I’m living now.  But I feel so…empty.  I suppose there are children other than Bart Simpson I could plot to kill…But no, I’m a one-boy murderer.  Always have been.  Maybe I can log on Fiend Book.  A little cyber-bullying might do me good.  Also, I could post pics of my beautiful new abode…
Make Sideshow Bob Humble Brag on Fiend Book- 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp
Make Criminals “Like” Sideshow Bob’s Fiend Book Post- x5.  1hr.  Earns $70, 17xp Freemium and $105, 26xp Premium
Dr. Robert Terwilliger: Congrats on the new house, Son!  It may not be much – but it’s a start!
Cecil: You call THAT a Victorian.  LOL!! That’s a Gothic Revival and you know it.
Francesca Bob, the toilet she’s making bloopy noises again!
Bob: I never should’ve friended my family on Fiend Book.

What are your thoughts on Bob’s Victorian House?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield (or did you already)? Excited for the upcoming THOH episode? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Came back in the magcal suprise box for 65 D. I think its still too pricy.

  2. Gilbert Garcia Jr

I didn’t go for it. As far as I’m concerned, the Italian Villa I bought to get Francisca is my Terwilliger residence.

  3. Ugh… I realize this post is a bit old now but I too experienced NO time limit on Bob’s Victorian Style Home and like everything they offer in the game, I buy (mostly anyways… Buildings and Characters always). Soooo, now I’m left without this building for my Springfield and I’m feeling a little burnt by the game.
Does anyone know if there might be an opportunity to buy this again soon? Some things I understand need a time limit on them to buy, like any event items, but Bob’s house isn’t really a Treehouse of Horror item. It certainly did not give me a time limit to buy it and now, very much like Springfield Falls, I’m feeling like I’ve been brutally cheated out of something I didn’t even have the chance to get. (Not getting Springfield Falls still hurts. A lot. I earned that in the Whacking Day event a few years ago, but it never showed up in my inventory. I had just started played then.)

    Thanks

  4. I’ve just gone to the store to buy the Victorian house and wondered why I couldn’t find it……it didn’t come up as a limited time item, just showed as “recommended” , so I didn’t think there was any panic. I’m really disappointed now 😠

  5. It leaves on Monday the 26th?? In my game it doesn’t say “Limited Time!” It just says “Recommended” in the Buildings menu and the main store screen.
I was hoping I had a little time to decide but, if it’s leaving Monday, I don’t have much time…

  6. One disappointment with the house is that the Unemployment Office automatically sends Bob to prison instead of to his house. If you want to use the house, you have to manualy send Bob there.

  7. The animation when in use is very, very weak. The sign out front starts lighting up alternatively ‘in prison’ and ‘on parole’. You would hardly notice it unless you were looking. There is no other animation that I have noticed. Will see tonight if the 4 hour task is picked up the Unemployment office or not.

  8. I personally won’t buy Bobs house. Just because I spent 40 donuts on Kodos costume, & I was saving up to buy Luanne(?). My extra donuts I earn will be towards the most “fun” preimium character you can get. Just my opinion. And yes, I am freemium (most parts). I couldn’t get the awesome deal offered because I already bought Fink 3 years ago (before my husband put a lock on my tablet for spending too much).

  9. I love all things Bob it’s just.. He already has a Villa sooo.. I dunno..

  10. Julie (Jsander321)

I’m sick with pneumonia and at first glance when I saw Bob’s house for purchase Bob Vila and “This Old House” popped into my head so I bought it. Ahh, the joy of medicine, no sleep and fond tv memories. Lol .. I still can’t get his show and my misread house title out of my head so it makes me giggle at my purchase. Either way I liked the look of it and that seems to be how I decide on certain things to purchase or craft.

    • Get better soon.

    • Hope you feel better soon, Julie! I’m sorry I can’t bring you any chicken soup, but I’ll try to drop off some terrors for you later, if you have room! (Maybe they can scare the pneumonia out of you? Lol!)

      • Julie (Jsander321)

        Thank you Sandra!
It would be excellent if they could scare away the coughing spasms! I’ll send some terrors back at ya in the morning! alot of my neighbors towns have been full when I swing by .. So you might see me drop some in return at odd times.

        • I remember once when I had a cough and wanted to go to a movie, I brought a thermos of hot chai with me and, every time I felt the urge to cough, I’d take a couple of sips. It really helped…something about the hot thick creaminess seemed to work even better than clear hot beverages, like tea. My cough was more the remnant of a cold, not pneumonia, so I don’t know if it will work for you, but it might be worth a try!

    • Tried to send you monsters, but the box was full. Get well soon and breathe deep if they give you an inhaler. Works a lot better and faster that way. My mother suffered several times from it. Now I give her a strong antihistamine, like one strong pill good for 24 hours. Keeps her from getting a cold and so pneumonia.

Thank you for buying the house. Always loved gingerbread houses, but the pictures are poor so far. Yours was the first I could really see. For those who have not seen it, that is wood cladding and the trees look like Bob’s hair. Hated to spend 100 big pink ones, but knew I would miss it if I did not.

  11. Not to hijack the blog, I realize its the wrong one, but just a heads up, woke up this morning and the Ghost Ship is now live in games. At least in mine it is lol

    • Dang it. I saw it this morning, got side tracked and work and completely forgot about it. I’ll get something up as just a reminder shortly…

      • No rush, just wanted to give a heads up in case you weren’t aware, since I think you mentioned you had it in your town.

  12. Slightly off topic, but just now in other Springfield I saw Sideshow Bob running down the street so I tapped on him and got cash and xp. Just like before I got him during the Terwilliger event. Is he back or have I lost my mind…again?

  13. I love Victorian houses, but I’m not sending that much for a building. Bob already has a 4-hour task, even if it’s not a premium one, so it won’t relieve any “no task” frustration (still eyeing Shorty’s to relieve the “no 1-hour task” frustration I have with Mrs. Lovejoy).

    So, a pass for me.

  14. I’m glad you pointed out it’s limited time as it doesn’t seem to be labelled as such in the game.
I am thinking I’ll get this, I love the look of the house and I think it’ll sit nicely near Maison Derriere (when I eventually get it). At 100 donuts it’s a little on the expensive side but still not too bad.

  15. Anybody else still locked out of their game? One of my two games has been down since Wednesday evening. Tried all the tricks, been in contact with EA four times. Still no luck. Very frustrating, to say the least.

    • I’ve been locked out since last night, even tried delete and reinstall, no luck. You are not alone.

    • Yes locked out of mine too!contacted ea…..what a useless bloody company.very close to calling it a day with this game.

      • I was locked out too. Called EA. They said they were aware of the issue that many people were having and that it’d be fixed in 24 hours. Now I can play again (there was an update on the loading screen). Yay.

  16. This was a tough decision but I’m just a sucker for a limited time building!
It is expensive but I prefer to spend my donuts on buildings that will be in my town all the time rather than premium skins that I might not end up even using or seeing if they are on indoor tasks.
I think it might fit in close to the bad dream house and Belle’s house that I’m hoping to get if I go for my annual batch of donuts at xmas again 🙂

  17. Handsome B. Wonderful

I bought it mainly because the rest of the premium stuff has been subpar to say the least.

  18. When do you think there will be a level update? The last update was last month!

    • Yea but usually when there’s an event they wait till the middle to end of it to launch another level. My guess is next week…probably wednesday.

  19. can’t get this, ’cause i just got jasper! oh yeah. feels even sweeter when it was earned

  20. I’m also on the fence. I absolutely love the look of it, but the price is quite high.

  21. Which is better: Captain Bob or Bob’s Victorian house?
Which is not to say that one cannot or should not buy both items. These two items do not cancel out each other’s benefits. This comment is for those who can afford only one or the other, not both.

Both items cost 100 donuts. In order to create a level playing field in comparing their incomes, Sideshow Bob will be considered to be performing the same length tasks for each item. Thus the numbers will reflect only the difference in income for that task length. The house earns 500 dollars per 24 hours, so that is a constant, which means that the 500 dollars needs to be compared to the difference in income between regular and premium pay rates.

1 hour – 105-75 = a 30 dollar increase in income. If you can get in there 16 times in one day, Captain Bob will give you an extra 480 dollars (16 x 30), 20 dollars shy of the 500 mark. Of course this does not take into account the time needed to reassign his task each time. That would make 450 dollars more realistic, unless you sleep less than 8 hours a night.

4 hours – 260-175 = 85 x 4 = 340 dollars per day. Here the house wins by 500 dollars because it also gives SHB a premium task.

    8 hours – 420-275 = 145 x 3 = 435 dollars.

    12 hours – 600-420 = 180 x 2 = 360 dollars.

    24 hours – 1000-600 = 400 x 1 = 400 dollars.

Conclusion, under all time categories, the house yields more income than the skin. But at no time, except under extraordinary conditions (like two players taking shifts), can the skin yield more income and that is only by playing every hour of the day (720 (30 x 24) vs 500 dollars), which is probably not sustainable.

Of course, the skin provides better images, i.e. outdoor tasks, while the house provides virtually none of them. So the skin wins from an aesthetic point of view.

    • Aesthetically you can see Bob in his Captains skin on the opera stage. As you point out, it’s doubtful anyone will be there to send Bob on his premium skin task every few hours but that beautiful house will be there for players to enjoy anytime. Vote- team townhouse.

  22. Anybody know what the sign says? 🎃

  23. 100 donuts is waaaay too much for a building without a character. Wish we got this instead of the lake! I’ll pass.
