Well here we are, in most Tappers favorite time of the year in Springfield….Halloween! The leaves on the tress have changed colors, the water is murky and there’s a darkness that falls over our TSTO screens. All of these effects fit in perfectly with this year’s theme….Nightmares.
This Event is broken up into 3 Acts, with each Act containing part of the story. To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act. Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event. For the second Act you’re tasked with collecting Gummies (
) to unlock each prize!
The third Act 2 prize awarded at 2,160 (or +1,620 from unlocking the Mechanical Ghost) is Clockwork Bart, an all new costume for everyone’s favorite prankster Bart!
So let’s take a closer look at this third prize and just what happens when you unlock it in your Springfield…
Once you’ve collected 2,160 (or 1620 more from prize two) you’ll automatically be awarded Clockwork Bart and you’ll see this message popup:
And it will be ready for use right away…

I already have the Tentacorp and we still have 8 days to go. I’m working on the monorail and doing the shopkeeper challenges but I hope there’s another update, like a level update or a second part to this act. Otherwise it’s kind of boring.
Hi Alissa. Thanks for all the great info. I just earned the Tenta-Corp HQ this morning. Is there any benefit to continue earning gummies? I missed out on 5 free donuts from the rail yard last week because I sent so many people out to earn gummies. But I want to start sending them back to work on rail yard resources to get 5 donuts this week.

Yep, same with me… I finished Tenta-Corp a few hours ago, and also missed out on railyard doughnuts last week – I didn’t even finish the first 5-piece task! Not that I really care, as I finished my railway properly a week ago and I’m just stockpiling pieces if/when I change my layout.
BTW did anything happen in the game (popups etc) after Tenta-Corp was built? My game crashed just as I finished building it (after 4 hr wait) and nothing happened when I got back in.

I’m debating buying bad dream house. I have some neighbors (at least 1?) who seem to always have the animation going on the bad dream house (colored flashing lights) Do they have some hack or something? The rest of their town doesn’t look hacked. I’ve read there is no way to currently trigger the animation.
There is a task associated with it right now, but only if you also have devil flanders.
I don’t have devil Flanders, and several members of the Simpson family have a task to sleep in the bad dream house newly placed in my town.
hmmm….i don’t have him either but the task isn’t in my town. I’ll have to double check.
why do you think they separated the cauldron from witch marge this year? Doesn’t really make much sense. I could see if they released the costume and then the decoration, but to release the decoration and then witch marge completely after is kind of weird.
to try and maximize how much they’ll get. The combo in the past was 75 donuts….

I missed out on the rail bonuts last week and have completely ignored SH since the start and wondered if I could concentrate on them a little for the last week of act 2?

Nope. You can focus on other things once you have all the gummy prizes.

I figured out early on that it’s better to concentrate on the Rail Yard first and gummies second, because, if you have as many characters as you do, it’s pretty easy to stay ahead of the gummies calendar, even if you use all available resources on the Rail Yard tasks. Plus, once you finish those for the week, you can go back to focusing on gummies for the remaining days. Just make sure to keep your non-rail-yard campfire kids going, because the more nightmares you get in your town, the more crafting materials AND gummies you end up with.
TL;DR – For best results, put all applicable characters on Rail Yard tasks, then send remaining kids to campfire and adults to their gummies tasks.

Does anyone know whether the cauldron comes with the Marge Witch costume, as per previous event? It is cheaper- so I assume not. I’d love more trick or treat costumes.

not that I’m waiting for your post at all, but when you do it ….. the cauldron previously came with a skin (that Sandra wants) but now they’re separate …….but presumably the skin needs the cauldron to have all tasks available etc. ….. don’t know how you’re going to explain it without spoilers 🙂

Dr is only regularly 20-30 minutes…traffic this morning just stunk. And we took all back roads at one point and just kept getting stuck behind the SLOWEST people. So yea…should have taken 30 minutes max, instead it was an hr. Fun stuff!

Oh, no…I have Witch Marge (and her cauldron) from last year. I use her crop speeding task a lot to help farm Triffids.

As long as nothing in the Questline is linked to the Event itself… they usually stick around a lil bit afterwords.

Agreed. They really phoned it in with this batch. It’s not like it’s that hard to make up a handful of extra, indoors tasks.
I literally have only a few hours left on this decision, and I’d appreciate the advice of the TSTOADDICTS crew and community:
Victorian UFO or Fairy Kodos? I’m only getting one, but which is the better on to get?
The UFO has a dual task for the both at it with them temporarily in old fashion clothing (see WDTCF on Victorian UFO) and hers is a fully tasked Skin.
My fairy Kodos only has two tasks. Only get it if you want a 24-hour task for Kodos because she will not otherwise have one.
Should have asked earlier. I am probably too late now. UFO does nothing while not being used. The 16-hour task is an unusual time period. The other task is 10 hours, so even harder to fit in. So it is questionable how much you will use this. The animation is not bad.
The skin also has only two tasks, one of them a joint task with Smithers (24 hours), the other is 8 hours, but best done when you do not need to tap on Springfield, like when you are asleep as it sends you back to the Simpson’s house. The advantage to the skin is that without it Kodos does not have a 24 hour task. The bad thing is that if you do not set the task before you use the Unemployment Office, Smithers will be busy already. The animation is also not bad.
If I could get only one, I would take the skin because 24 hour tasks can be useful when you have limited access to the game.

I didn’t realize that the Vic UFO was ending early this morning until I re-checked the premium items offered. D’Oh!
I’ve been a freemium player for virtually the whole time (I only broke down during last year’s Black Friday offer, but that was purely temporary.) So, I’ve been cautious with doughnut spending.
I ended choosing the UFO after reading the complaints of one of the fairy tasks, something about Kodos being difficult to tap and the screen homing back to Evergreen Terrace. The 24 hour task is a valid point, but it would be better if it was her alone. Surprisingly, a 10 hour session works really well with my schedule! I also realized that I’m not sure how long I would be using Pirate Kang after the season. If there was a joint task with the two in costume, that may have been the clincher.
… It was probably also the time limit that made me with the decision, too.

Another forgetful skin in an otherwise boring event. The coffin is tiny and hard to see, Clockwork Bart has one outdoor task, The elder god is so useless I would sell it if I could and the Tenta Corp building qualifies for “it decent enough that I will find a spot for it, but not anything amazing”. I finished all the prizes in 6 days, my fire is at level 40 and accelerating to the point I’m getting a level every 6 hours (I don’t send kids on a second round of s’mores anymore. one round plus 2 extra hours of regular spawns are enough now). I pray that act 3 becomes amazing somehow because this is the worst event I’ve seen in over a year.
This that said, I’m not too upset because the comic, SSB, and Monorail evens were awesome. three out of the last four.
Glad you’ve said it… I’m thinking it as well. I’ve been very disappointed with the prizes that we’ve been offered in either the Acts/Crafting or the Premium Store to buy. The only positive out of this event is that i’ve been able to craft (without spending donuts) Hugo and Kodos. Other than that, as a first time THOH event player, it’s been a major let down. Act 1 was very underwhelming, but reading comments on here about waiting to see what else comes up…. we’re 2/3’s into the event and nothing really majorly exciting. 4 kids costumes (can’t really call them Halloween costumes- there are SO many amazing costumes/characters these kids could have worn), and only 1 of those costumes is freemium. And 3 adults costumes to come (Guessing the tacky Homer one will be free, Kirk and Luann donut buys)..; but yeah. Roll on Christmas Event!!
What I am most disappointed in is just the bland prizes that I’m getting dozens of such as the hedge.

Yeah. Well, people have differing opinions all the time. I hate the Transformers movies. Some people (idiots) love them. I hate Nickelback. Some people (idiots) love them.
Couldn’t agree more. If I didn’t already have everything if probably think it was pretty cool. Talking to a friend last night and he was so excited to get Kodos, I sarcastically replied yeah I was really excited to craft a dozen balloons. This really feels like it’s just for people who haven’t played a Halloween before. Which may be part of the reason people were so upset about Frink’s deal, it really feels for veteran premium players like we’re getting nothing new. I’m excited for the new level, at least it will be something different.
I haven’t given up hope but agree act 3 better deliver, big time. I haven’t gotten a new character in about a month now.
I also think it’s been slipping, SH was a disaster, almost as bad as Krustyland. Monorail had a few cool characters but otherwise who wanted all those station additions. Last night while redecorating I dismantled my entire monorail and moved it to my vacant SH because I decided I didn’t want it blocking these buildings I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on.
Sorry to ramble but Tapball was fun even if it didn’t offer much, since then it just feels, meh.
Got to agree with ya on the elder god! I was unimpressed with it. Grant you the coffin is small but the noise it makes is pretty sweet. Scared my wife bad with the laugh as she came out from the restroom!! Lol . Priceless! I told her its a good thing she had just come from the restroom, if ya catch my drift..?..
I’m another one that agrees on this. This is my third TSTO Halloween and I’m finding it pretty underwhelming. Kodos and the wailing wall bonus have been the only highlights so far. And no, I’m not one of those people who complains on here about every event! 🙂

A random thought… With all the updates XP Generator, IRS, Unemployment Office, etc… I wanted to throw in another idea…. A currency converter, where we can buy XP or Donuts from in game cash!!!
How does that sound? Poll post? Request for EA?
If EA did that, i bet they would set a crazy high in game dollar price to acquire the donuts!
The xp generator is basically a currency converter, you just have to prime it with doughnuts. With a 5 doughnut investment (timed appropriately) and millions of in-game cash you can buy (through rat trap trucks or bloodmobiles) massive amounts of xp, giving you bonus levels and doughnuts (hopefully more than 5 but that is dependent on your money and your multiplier so the math can get a bit crazy).
This is the sort of idea that’s been around since the game began. It’s just not going to happen because it’s not profitable.

I’d like to see the buildings updated, so that when you click on a location you can choose any/all characters’ tasks that interact with that location.
I haven’t been using him since I completed the quest. I guess the ultra-pranking task is where he uses his wand, I hope. It’s a fun effect. Even better would be a permanent joint task with Milhouse. (I’ve mentioned this before.)

Okay so I just got the elder blimp and there’s 8 days left I see and I want tentacorp but it’s like 1800 gummies away and I work 45 hours a week at five days a week. I was not able to get the last prize from act one i.e. the nightmare spawner so I’m not sure how much that actually helps. But what I’m getting at is am.I going to make it like is it possible and any advice?

I’m seriously considering getting the drive-in theater, but I’m wondering whether to get it now, or closer to the end of the deadline. Is there any advantage to getting it sooner rather than later? I don’t seem to remember reading that it yields any event currency, but I might not have been paying attention if that was mentioned, since I didn’t have it.
If you own it, you get the gooey lookin space mutant and he has a cool questline. Also, you can play movies for money at the drive in. Nothing truly pertaining to the thoh event asfar as crafting resources or gummies etc…

It works like the TV station or Radio station, you set movies to play. You also get the Space Mutant who is a fully fledged character with premium payouts.
It doesn’t pay out any event currency though.

No event currency, it only pays out regular currency when you play movies and the longest of which is 3 hours.
The alien that comes with it doesn’t help with the event either, is it a package deal again?
Either way I think it’s a great buy. It’s a very unique decoration it would be nice if it had movie marathon choice so it could run longer but looks cool when they do play. And I love it when the alien eats cats from the dumpster.

I got the drive in, mainly because the animation while on tasks is cool! It plays movies (albeit only short clips of a film). The only downside to this is the fact the cars built on the drive in theater point in a direction that other cars can’t… what that means is if you want to expand it to make it a bigger looking drive in, with more than 2 cars, when you place any additional cars on the grass or pavement they face the opposite direction to the drive in cars. So it looks a bit weird. I’m hoping that we get a 360 ability to rotate our buildings and cars which would fix this, but other than that, it’s a good buy. Costs only $10 per task. Tasks range in time from 45 mins, 60 mins, 1hr30mins, 3hrs. In addition you get the Space Mutant who pays out at premium price for his tasks. It doesnt help with any of the THOH quests or acts tho.

I think I like this monster as he is bald, just like my tortoise. He looks cute when eating out of a dumpster and hilarious when going on a rampage.
And he has ‘indigestion’ problems after sneaking into the drive-in. Also fun to watch.
There is no benefit in buying it right away but I love the alien on his 24 hr task of rampage. And the little movies that play are cute. And I have a little area that is woodsy set up with the drive in surrounded by woods a log cabin and with someone’s suggestion my elder god right behind it.
I unlocked the final prize last night already, this event is way too easy. Hope level 59 hits us tomorrow or I’m going to be very bored for the next 8 days.
In fact so much down time on this event I’ve gotten some major renovations done and since they haven’t offered many new items this year I don’t have to find a lot of new space. I’d say this event is most likely to be forgotten.
I’ve been on countdown mode for the last 2-3 weeks for level 59 to come out. THOH event this year is very underwhelming, a level update should be the last thing on our minds when an event is on but I’ve never been so bored playing this game as I have with this event so am really hoping it comes out this week…!
I know, right? I was so excited to turn on my game today and see a new item in the store. Freakmobile ?!?! Yippee! Yet another returning item. They should have put up a disclaimer at the beginning of the event “If you’ve been playing for at least two years, you can come back in a month and a half.” I should have known when they didn’t set the mood with lighting that this would be the worst event ever.
lol this is why I cringe whenever people beg for stuff to come back. EA always brings it back but doesn’t introduce anything new in it’s place. And it’s not like St. Pat’s where they only have so much to go off of. It’s frakkin Halloween the BIGGEST event in Simpsons History…
EXACTLY!!! IT’S FREAKING HALLOWEEN!!! You know constantly the highest rated Simpsons episode of like every season. I think, no make that I now know I got my hopes set too high. And after the new episode I really thought they’d throw us a bone but nope. I don’t want to be a negative Nancy but I got so excited when I saw that red 1 over my icon today, than like a kick to the old oyster sack, Freakmobile. I want a dual task of Bart laying dead on the ground with Sideshow Bob putting into his mouth. I swear if act 3 has any returning items, except the teleporters, I have them but I have this weird obsession for Sandra to have them. I offered to help but no, she’s too decent a person to accept. (Sandra, that’s meant to be a compliment BTW)

Pranking is what Bart does best! I like the costume alot and its a shame his questliine is short but still a great skin to have. I tend to try for as many character skins as i can, if i like the character that is.
My favorite skin (hands down) is Pie Man! So funny watchin my fav tv dad Homer tossing pies around town.
I thought if I completed these prize related quests that the reward would be bunny ears, bones, etc. It takes Bart (or other characters) away from doing tasks that give the themed rewards instead of just money\points. Is it better to leave these tasks for after the event if I’m more focused on the Halloween rewards?
