Should I Spend Donuts on the Sepulcher of Evil?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s Halloween in Springfield!  And what better way to celebrate Halloween than Ol’ Gil poppin’ into town and giving us nightmares?  Now I know you may be trying to decide if this Gil deal is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Sepulcher of Evil to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this criminal’s hideaway to your Springfield!

Decoration: Sepulcher of Evil
Donut Price: 225 Donuts
Bonus %: 4% on all cash and XP
Earns/Spawns: 3 Nightmares/4hrs w Mr. Burns Task
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +500

Leaves stores Wednesday November 4th.. (0700GMT)

Pros:
-Comes with a quest line for Mr. Burns
-Neat looking design
-Really cool animation for Mr. Burns here, and if purchased his 4hr task to Read from Necronomicon will relocate from the Cooling Towers to here
-Animated when in use and when tapped
-Offers 4% bonus on all cash and XP
-During THOH Event it will spawn 3 nightmares/4hrs, provided you have Burns on the task there.

Cons:
-Insanely over priced for what it is/does
-While spawning nightmares is cool, I think we can all agree that at this point it’s pretty easy to get nightmares just by playing the game
-Huge decoration, 11×11, hard to fit in Springfield if you’re running out of room.

Final Thought:
Premium or Freemium:
Complete and total pass on this one (unless you REALLY like how it looks and can’t live without it….or you’re Ryan, who has to have everything 😉 ).  It’s over priced for what it is/does.  Sure the 4% bonus is nice…but you can earn more than that during this even by crafting 2 Wailing Walls (4.5% for 2 of them) for free.  And yes, Mr. Burns’ task is really neat there…but 225 donuts for a task for Mr. Burns?  Really not worth it…

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you I’m avoiding this one like the plague.  It’s just way over priced and doesn’t offer enough of a benefit to justify spending those hard earned Sprinkles….but that is fairly typical of a Gil Deal.  Over priced, impulse buys.  However, this IS a limited-time item.  So if you’re thinking about getting it make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games on November 4th…

Here’s a look at Mr. Burns’ task there…

  1. I actually paid 60 donuts for it in the jack o lantern mystery box lol

  2. THoH 2016: You can now get it out of and halloween box for 60 donuts. It’s a 1/8 chance but I luckily got it in the first opening.

  3. I must admit I love Halloween so if I see a limited time thing like this or like the ghost pirate airship I splurge a lil.

That being said I designed all my eye hedges in a huge maze with the gate the temple and the sepulcher in side the maze. Surrounded by water and a forest of dead trees and reg spruce trees. It reminds me of evil dead with he necranomicon so I had to have it.

    Happy tapping.

  4. Too expensive for what it does, but I must say, it sure looks cool with the temple and the gate shown in the photo above!

  5. Love love love the Burns task but just too expensive.

  6. Thanks for posting the cool screenshots. Now I’ve seen it and won’t have the slightest qualm about letting this one slip away.

  7. Get a whale! 😉 A whale does have a 7% bonus, almost 2X the bonus this thing has.

  8. Good morning America,

I suppose it’s obvious to everybody, but I haven’t seen it mentioned,
Those who bought the sepulcher may be thinking of designs…..

Don’t forget you can add as many gargoyles as you want for $7,500 each, in-game cash from the shop (if you’re level 57) ……as the sepulcher already includes gargoyles at the front. It may be a cheap way to enhance/embellish your area or design 🎃 🙂

Sure other tappers will spot other ideas,

Listen to me, talking about design……….
I wrote “trick or treat” in shrubs near my campfire….masterpiece

    🎃 🐇 💀 🐍 🙂

    • Noticed your “Trick or Treat” yesterday, Lee (and your name in flowers)….well done!

      • Hi Sandra,
When I visited your town earlier, I thought “Where’s Moe?”…… The plastic and metal recycling was in full swing but no sign of life at the glass recycling plant.

Funny the details we notice 🎃 🙂

        • Glass factory was full this morning…been getting almost exclusively metal tasks since yesterday afternoon. *eye roll*

          • Oh, and Moe says, “hi” (he’s currently watching yoga tasks until he’s needed back at the recycling plant).

      • I’ve got my name in flowers in 4 places, and once in bramble hedges and in jet-skis off the heights beach …..that’s the limit of my artistic/creative ability 🎃 🙂

        • Lol – Having your name spelled out in 6 places seems a little…ummmm….narcissistic? 😉 😉 😉

Even Hershfeld used his niece’s name, when he buried all of those “Nina”s in his artwork.

Maybe you should practice with “Sandra”…much more of a challenge than “Lee.” 😉

          • That’s the beauty of having a short name………..it’s easy to write in the snow! ❄ ⛄ ❄

I did start off trying to do a pentagram but I soon gave up
            🎃 🙂

        • Lee, your land and “decor” are brilliant. You put a smile on my face. I’d love to be as extravagant with my land, but sadly , no acreage! Cheers, RevJRO

    • Any chance you have room for one more neighboureeno Lee?

      • Maybe, …so long as you’re not expecting anything fancy, (because you’ll be disappointed)
and so long as you don’t expect me to visit every single day, and NO tagging, no dropping litter, take your shoes off before you come in, don’t sit in my spot, etc. etc.

        🎃 🙂

        • Lol my expectations are low then! I just like having people from here as my neighbours. I’m pretty bad with neighbour visits myself, and I only tag accidentily, and then I feel REALLY bad about it.
But if I know you from here I do make it a priority to visit during events 😊 I tried to add you but it won’t go through, so feel free to send a request whenever you get an opening, my username is the same. 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃

          • OK ..need to make a space ….will get round to it in the next couple of hours, busy cooking at the min 🎃 🎃 🎃 🎃 🎃 🙂

          • My system recognition has found you …..

Now, if you’ve got your credit card handy, we can proceed to the final step of accepting your application. 🙂

          • Yaaay! Transaction complete 🙂 I tried to give you some terrors but your town is all full. Love your Maison Derriere set up!

      • Super neighbour! Add add add ♡

While I’m here I may as well thank you both for being super neighbours lol ☆

  9. Just realised that sepulchre has been spelt wrong – you guys have got “sepulcher” but is should be “sepulchre”. But I guess you won’t change I mean the U.S. Dictionary is full of spelling mistakes

  10. If it can’t make me coffee, than it’s not worth 225 donuts. 225 donuts! Seriously…

  11. Why does it cost so freakin much???

  12. Oh Gill and his redic offers… TSTO is starting to get on my nerves. It’s constant events and they want donuts for everything. And what’s with all the 24 hr side event tasks that use characters needed for the main event tasks? I’ve been playing less and less lately BC all I really want is a casual game where I can chill out and design my town. You hear that EA?! :p. Sorry, end rant.

  13. I love the look of this, but just can’t justify the donut spend.
The extra donuts we get from the Railyard & The Shopkeepers challenges are great, but the loss of donuts for extra currency earned is disappointing AND OMG, inflation seems to be going mad. The donut costs of new & returning items is crazy, and I noticed a few days ago that the price to buy donuts & premium scratches has really JUMPED. Are any other countries seeing the huge jump in price?
I started playing almost a year ago (i rue the day I opened this damn game!)
I think then it was $1.09 for a scratcher, $109.99 for a Boatload. Lately it’s been $1.29 per scratcher, $129 per boatload.
Now it’s $1.49 per scratcher, and a whopping $159.99 per Boatload. OUCH!!

(these prices are in Australian dollars.) The Australian dollar has dropped a lot compared to the $US, which makes these price hikes even more painful.
So, 225 donuts for this item? I don’t think so.

  14. I have a question. I placed this in my town and currently have Mr. Burns doing his task there. Is there a reason that roughly 10 of my characters have gravitated towards this thing and are basically running mad around it? I tested it by moving it to a different spot and all of the characters follow it. It’s really weird. LOL.

  15. I’d buy it for an insane amount of dollars, but it’s WAY overpriced for donuts. Is it just my imagination or has EA gone premium crazy? This update seems like it’s all donuts and not many new things, period. This THOH hasn’t been that great for me.

    • Agreed. It seems to be all donuts for the purchased items, and mostly returned items for crafting. Given how much people look forward to the Halloween event, this one has been a bit disappointing.

  16. Mr.Burns task is way cool, but not enough for 225 donuts.
On another note, these formless terrors are really starting to tick me off. EA wants to make them expire if I don’t get into my game within 4 hours, fine, I can deal with that. But when I do get there on time WHY are they so hard to catch?? My neighbour took the time to wait for my town to load, drop some terrors, and now they might not even get the proper reward because every time I try to tap them a building timer comes up, or a character timer comes up. It’s needlessly difficult. To what end EA? TO WHAT END??? AAHHHH. I think I’m tapped out for this act lol.

    • I’ve been refraining from complaing about that. You’re at least the second person to do so. I’m ready to concur.

      I concur.

      So, here’s my idea:

Notice how there’s less trouble tapping nightmares when visiting a neighbor than in your own town? The difference is that we can’t check on buildings or characters. The most we can do is make them talk.

We need a “hunting” mode like that in our own towns during events. A button that “locks” those bad kinds of taps out. It would be the most helpful with formless terrors. And, it could even be nice for non-event times, just for fun, to hear characters or building chimes without having to do something. 🙂

      • Totally agree on the difficult tapping. It will register as tapping every & any bldg, decoration, or character in the area before it hit on a formless terror. Not the first time this has happened either. I think it did it for nerds or sports fans or some other semi-recent event too.

What we need is a character locator button that only finds characters that have a completed task & are waiting to be tapped. Particularly helpful for wandering around outside tasks & characters in new/recently moved bldgs ( I forget they’re there).

Very sick of the these new tasks that are only associated with the bldg (recycling, SH, spooky Simpson Hse, spooky Krusty Burger, etc). Any special tasks should be associated only with the characters in gold at the top of their task list. I end up sending them on regular tasks then have to try & cancel it to do a special task & that isn’t always possible if it isn’t in a bldg or is in one it won’t let you store.

I have been playing this for about 3.3 yrs now & it’s definitely lost its luster.

        tonflo1

    • I find that if I aim for the l bottom of the terror I have better luck squishing them.

  17. EA Is either doing drugs or running some kind of test on their players, seeing just how far they can push till we say no way. Looks like there are more no way people. I know there are a lot of pep that are completist and that’s great if you have the money not to mention the room in your town and it makes you happy hey go for it. Way too expensive for my budget, Burns’s isn’t my favorite character and I don’t have the room. I am crazy enough to buy the whale, but I love animals and he doesn’t take up room in town. When I bought him think it was my birthday present to me, & I did think I was crazy to spend that much. I still haven’t bought the Simpson’s dog because of his price & no benefit to having him, do have k9 dog.Admit to whimpering when I see him.

  18. I wonder if there’s a donut inflation going on with new items now that donuts are earned weekly from monorail and shopkeeper tasks.

    • That may be possible, since for the time being people are capable of earning 25 donuts a week, and now with with XP boosters, the people that have diligent gains and can use it to pre-level like two or three times with in the week for even MORE donuts.

    • Nah, this isn’t recent. Gil has been offering items that cost 200-250 donuts starting last year with the solid gold mansion. Then there was truckasuarus and the ghost pirate ship, also ridiculously expensive. Then there was the radstation fortress and the rad-ish station fortress, which might not have been Gil but were still appallingly overpriced.
Certain characters have also cost quite a bit. Duffman, Drederick Tatum, Herb Powell, Miss Springfield, and Barney to name a few. The odd 200-ish donut item has been a staple of the game for years. (Then, of course, there’s the whale. Still the most expensive thing in the game, released well over a year ago.)
