In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?
This post I will be going over the Origin of the Cthuhlu aka M’nthster. Why are these in our games? What is so interesting about a them? What does it have to do with Halloween? Let’s dive into the Simpsons TV Series to find out more.
First, the Origin of the name of Cthulhu. For you readers out there, pick up the short story, The Call of the Cthulhu, by H.P. Lovecraft to learn just where in our human world this creature started to appear.
Now on to the TV Series…
Season 25, Episode 2: Treehouse of Horror XXIV
In the really cool Horrorific Couch Gag opening to this Episode, the Simpsons are all over in so many different Classic as well as new Movie Homage’s throughout. As Bart leaves the School and starts to skateboard through town in his usual way, tentacles come up from underground lifting him into the air and up to a Giant Cthulhu M’nthster. He continues skateboarding back down off the Tentacles and on his way down the street to pass even more Horror Characters/Writers.
A quick side note, as it does the “screen scan” across the background over to the Simpson’s home, you can catch some Skeletons who look just like the ones in our game right now in the background along with so many other cool things… too many to list (including the Robot in the trash pile).
Season 27, Episode 4: Halloween of Horror
While out seeking some more Decorations at the Halloween Pop Up store, Lisa & Bart spot a really cool Billboard above advertising Krustyland Halloween Horror Night. Lisa is excited as she is FINALLY old enough for Horror night. She can’t wait. Later… Homer, Bart, and Lisa are at Krustyland ready to head on inside. Lisa doesn’t seem afraid at all of the spooky things creeping and crawling around…at first. She starts flipping out. There is just too many Horrors and scary things around. She screams and panics she wants to go home. While Homer is trying to calm her down and tell here to stay… and not because the tickets were SUUUUUUUUUUPPPPERRRRR expensive, we see a Cthulhu moving by in the background.
There you have it, a Giant Cthulhu M’nthster that made a flash appearance in a Treehouse of Horror episode is now an item in our games and apparently controlling those Nightmares creeping out.

yep. she disappeared from my game, storage and since I have the shop I’m really confused about it. EA said it might take 24 hours or something. Thanks for replying though 🙂

But then where would the “thing” that lives under my bed be ? It might be waiting in the wardrobe to jump out on me …

I’ve finally decided to get around to reading Lovecraft. I just read “The Willows,” which he said was one of his favorites, and it was pretty good. I really liked the atmosphere.

I wish they had the Krustyland Halloween Horror, honestly anything to do with Krustyland would be great. It just feels very neglected, I barely go into mine cause I know there will be nothing new for it. Maybe next year they will remember that Krustyland exists in our games.

Anybody else having trouble getting on their game.. The log in screen is on with my name and level 58 but when I continue the homer blowing the power plant from the beginning comes on!! Would uninstalled help??
You can try an uninstall. If not try logging in from another device. Or you can contact EA.

My campfire is no longer automatically upgrading. Since I did not see a patch, I presume this has to do with the current Shopkeeper’s Challenge, i.e. to upgrade the campfire. I accidentally set Lisa to making snakes last night and it is possible that the lack of upgrading is connected to that. Fortunately, it is Bart and a tent, not Lisa and another Spoooooky shed. I am not putting the kids to making s’mores and skeletons, just Bart since I already have 84 skeletons. Will then visit neighbours and harvest random skeletons until the goal is met, at which time Bart will be stored and Martin resume his life’s work.
As to the railway, nothing but metal so far this week. At least that does not have a lot of kids involved in its production. Brandine only has 38 days to go.
Almost everyone is generating zombies now. Very hard to get skeletons, but finally found 9 and the campfire upgraded, but gave me a bramble, not a tent. So not sure is the zombie upgrade went through after Bart started talking or what, but the upgrade happened long before it should have.
I am glad they even named Cthulhu in one of the dialogues, even if it doesn’t make much sense that he should have a brother who’s “what you’d call assistant manager at the R’lyehan equivalent of a Kinko’s office”. And that is not the ONLY Lovecraft reference throughout this event, of course… 😉
Just bought a collection of H P Lovecraft stories , ( 62 short stories and 5 novellas) in kindle e-book form for 99pence from Amazon . Not familiar with his writing so I thought why not at that price if I don’t like it , not lost too much….. 🙂
My personal recommendations: The Call of Cthulhu, The Shadow Out of Time, The Colour Out of Space, Cool Air, The Whisperer in Darkness, The Dunwich Horror, and his masterpiece (for me): At the Mountains of Madness.

I would recommend you try to pace yourself with reading them – I ended up going through his complete works in just a couple of weeks, and they’re a little same-y after a while.
