Should I Spend Donuts on Molloy and the Springfield Museum?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Level 59 hit our devices recently and with it arrived Springfield’s notorious cat burglar…Molloy and the Springfield Museum!   Now I know you may be trying to decide if this is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Molloy to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this sly burglar to YOUR Springfield!

Pros:
-Comes with a quest line
-Premium character earns 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character
-You’ll earn 1 free donut from Molloy’s questline.
-A couple of fun outdoor tasks

Cons:
-Pricey.  A bit on the high side for the character/building combo
-No character interaction after initial questline
-Not voiced
-His 20hr tasks requires the Cubic Zirconia

Final Thought:
Premium Take:
This is a combo I like, it’s a bit over priced for who it is and what he comes with, but I still like it.  Molloy is someone I’ve been hoping would come into this game since we got the Cubic Zirconia back in 2013…finally took them long enough!  Molloy has some fun outdoor tasks, and just a good rounded list of tasks.  So in my opinion if you’re a premium player this is one combo to pick up.

Freemium Take:
Freemium players this is one of those “eh” combos.  There are far better combos in the game for the donuts and nostalgia factor of TSTO than this one.  I think the 150 donuts pushes this to the maybe freemium list for me.  I do think if you’re a newer player that you’re much better off saving your donuts for better combos, like Akira.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you I will be purchasing this combo.    However, this is NOT a Limited-Time Item so take your time with your thought process. Molloy will still be there in a few weeks.  So if you’re on the fence or worried about saving up your donuts relax..there’s no rush to get him.

Molloy’s Permanent Tasks:

  1. Grabbed him for 100 Doughnuts today

  2. Can this quest be completed without spending doughnuts on a police car?

    • Not sure what you’re asking… I don’t remember a cop car being needed for the questline.

    • I saw online that the police car gives Molloy a “Park Squad Car in Red Zone for Kicks” 4 hour task. So I was wondering if the police car is involved in Molloy’s quest, but it must not be.

  3. I’m going to disagree on the negative mark towards price. By recent standards, it’s actually a fairly cheap combo.

I’ll probably be picking him up just for the building. I’d been considering the stand alone Springfield Museum of Natural History to fill in the government buildings in that section of my town and this is basically the same, just picking up a new character for an additional 50 donuts.

    • Considering the past year of premiums, I’d say that 150 is the overall standard price for a building character combo (75/75). Anything below that I would say is cheap, and anything about 150 and I would say its expensive.

  4. Good morning everybody 🙂

  5. “…you’re much better off saving your donuts for better combos, like Akira”
    Seriously?
Personally, I think Akira is one of the worst characters there is – a total waste of money (I can’t think of a Premium character that I’ve bought that I regret more – even Lampwick is better). Of course, that’s just my opinion but I was really surprised to see you hold him up as an example of someone people should buy.

    • Bonzai trees! Great decoration for free, as many as you want plus the episode One Fish… is a true classic. One of those episodes that can make you cry.

    • Akira has two fun visual tasks and makes unending twelve-donut bonsai for free if you keep doing his twelve hour task. The Happy Sumo is a nice looking building that can be placed on land or on squidport for extra design possibilities. All of this for 100 donuts, which is 50-150% less than most character/building combos, and even certain standalone characters. (Jimbo, by himself, costs 20% more than Akira with the Happy Sumo, and Akira is voiced where Jimbo is not.) PLUS, for those who care about such things, Ralph gets a permanent task at the restaurant, for premium payout.
I’m sorry to hear you don’t like him, but for sheer dollars to donuts value, it’s tough to beat Akira. I would easily recommend him to every player, particularly newer players who are looking for the most proverbial bang for their buck.

    • I guess you have not been getting the free bonsai from him

    • with all due respect bro, i’ve never seen anyone else call akira one of the worst characters in the game. yet you repeat that over and over on here, trying to steer people away from arguably the best value building+character combo available… and the reason why alissa has used akira and the happy sumo, on numerous occasions besides this, as an example of a premium purchase people might wanna consider instead.

      • Hi all,
Hey, it’s just an opinion, and I guess I’ll have to accept I’m in a very small minority. I won’t mention it again! 😉
Re the bonsais, yeah, I’ve got a ton of them, most of them in storage. OK, they’re premium decorations, but *if* they were freemium, how many would you buy? I have so many that the fact a bonsai is given is not a plus point any more.
If the bonsais offered a multiplier bonus I’d be screaming Akira’s virtues from the rooftops, but they don’t.
He *does* have a couple of entertaining outdoor tasks, but to say he’s “voiced” is stretching it, he just grunts a bit.
And, again this is just a personal preference, the Happy Sumo building pay-out isn’t much use to me since I can only log on twice, maybe 3 times per day. The 6,8,12,24hr buildings are my favourites.

You’re right though, 100 donuts for a premium character and building combo is pretty good value compared to the others. I’d forgotten he was that cheap.

        • Personally, I would have bought dozens of bonsai if they were freemium. I love landscaping options. I’ve done multiple designs that include the bonsai trees.

And Akira says at least one thing that I’m pretty sure is a word and not a grunt, it’s just in Japanese. Not that his voice clips are terribly exciting or anything, but it’s definitely more than Jimbo has.

      • BTW, I don’t mean to come across as a whinger. I didn’t realise I’d said it that often, certainly didn’t think anyone paid attention! I’m certain most don’t 😉
Just wanted to put another view out there – there might be some ummm-ing and ahhh-ing over buying him.
OK, I’ll let it rest now.

    • Akira rocks!

      – Free bonsai that help your tree-hugging rating (and take up VERY little space in doing so).
      – watching him break boards with his forehead is priceless.
      – great building with pretty cool animation (love when the sushi chef manages to cut a veggie multiple times while it hangs in the air)

      IMHO, highly recommended.

    • Arnie. Arnie is the worst! Annoying sounds, and his tasks flying across the town are OBNOXIOUS!!!!! If I come for a visit and he’s flying around I just skip to the next, it’s too annoying to try to tap around him.

I was glad when he got the stonecutter robe. For a long time no one had him flying because the robe was a way less obnoxious task. But now he’s cropping up again. Newer players are buying him and don’t have the robe.

    • Akita rules your off your head lol

  6. I was sure that this site would have a baby announcement today. Hope the baby arrives healthy and happy soon

  7. I want to get him, but will likely wait until I have 5 mil in game $ so I can get the zirconium to go along.

  8. ea forum down for anyone else?

  9. I have an unrelated to the topic question. Monster thingy hasn’t left the campfire all week and I have only spawned 4 skeletons. Is anyone else having this problem?

  10. Last night FXX played the Simpsons Malloy episode, sooooo I just HAD to have all of it–even the Giant T. Being an avid film buff & musician, the nod to ‘It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad ,Mad (breath) World’ was the clincher. Such a sucker, am I. ;D
Hey! I thought you had been sent to bed rest by Wookie?! Good to ‘see’ you! xxxx

  11. Hi Bunny, how are you? 🐇
    and how is Alissa? ⚾

Now make sure you give us an equal half of whatever time you’ve got,
Don’t make me come to the other place looking for you 😀
    🎃🍩🎃🍩🎃🍩🎃🍩💀🐍👻🍭💟. 🙂

    • Why not? 😛

I have hardly anytime for ME now, let alone others. Working long hours and hopping in when I can catch quick breaks to make sure posts are scheduled and get through as many comments as I can until I have to help a Patient again. 🙂

  12. He’s definitely on my want-list. Gotta love a guy in sneakers!

  13. How should I play the game if I have obtained all the prizes in Act 3? I have left the monster at the campfire and did not fight him. I assumed that now the candy apple is useless?

The four kids are in brown house to harvest nightmares. The monster will regain control in 3 hrs. What would happen when this happen ? Also I noted no more starspawns after a while with the monster sitting at the campfire. Is this correct?

    • That’s up to you, but if you want Starspawns… you got to get him to go in hibernation again.

      • Weird, I’ve been ignoring him and I’m still getting starspawns. Each morning he has reset and I have to punch him several times but that’s happening at the fire and then he just sits on the fire.

    • I’ve finished Act 3, and my m’nthster has disappeared entirely now. I defeated him on the temple, unlocked the ned centre, and he isn’t on the campfire… so I assume that’s it, as I can’t fight him anymore and will just focus on nightmares

  14. I’m waiting to see what the Christmas event has to offer.

  15. Love it don’t know why I love watching him climb the museum so
