Final Thought:
Premium or Freemium:
Honestly, I’d avoid this one.  It’s just another useless building in Springfield…
So whether you’re a Premium or Freemium player, this is one to avoid in my opinion.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell I’ll be passing on this one.   However, this IS a limited-time item.  So if you’re thinking about getting it make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games on December 19th

Here’s a look at the dialogue that comes with it…

No Heavy Petting

Lisa: Ooh, look.  The Springfield Animal Shelter!   There’s finally a home for all the poor animals that wander the streets of Springfield.
Homer: We should see if your Aunt Patty and Selma are in there.
Lisa: Very funny.  Can we go and pet all the animals, Dad?  Please!
Bart: Yeah come on, Homer…I’ve been craving to smell like a hundred dogs and cats.
Make the Simpsons Visit the Animal Shelter- x4 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp
Lisa: This place is great!  So many poor animals, with such big eyes and sweet, cuddly, needy…
Marge: You’re not getting another pet, Lisa!
Bart: This would have been a perfect place for Stampy to hang out and I could come visit him.
Quimby: There is an ordinance that prevents elephants in Springfield city facilities.
Signage: NO HEAVY PETTING
What are your thoughts on the Animal Shelter?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield (or did you already)? Where have you placed it?  Thoughts on Christmas? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Got it with one of the Christmas mystery boxes. It was among the buildings I wanted to have.

  2. Honestly, I snatched it up and haven’t regretted it, and I’m usually not prone to picking up buildings without characters.

I like that it has a unique design and it’s something other than just another store front. From a town design perspective, it’s something a town would have and helps flesh out any number of areas you might be creating. Works just as well in a nice part of town as it does filling in your run down part of town as well.

Now, I HATE that they animated it for basically one task and your characters don’t use it again. I really wish they weren’t so lazy and they’d create more premium pay out jobs for the premium buildings.

The final factor for me though was it really was cheap for a pretty cool looking building.

  3. Would be great/interesting if they eventually updated and gave Snowball II or Homer Dog tasks here… or any other NPC pet.. with no tasks.

  4. Springfield Animal Shelter –

I’d spend Donuts on it, but this Tapper has already earned / crafted Four Buildings (and that’s during Part 1) ….. that’s a lot of Freemium from EA (so far)

  5. What was the question? I’m confused 😕
I’ll go back to the top and read it all again

    🙂

  6. I found myself thinking today that Patches and Violet should be associated with the orphanage. I’m kinda bummed they didn’t make them a bundle. They could have replaced the orphanage prize slot with this animal shelter, which is a clear pass as a premium item, but could have made for a nice prize.

  7. I am saving my doughnuts until act 2, I am sure some other characters will be offered then or at least I hope so.

  8. I give this one a big fat L for loss. PASS

  9. These buildings that no one uses (after the questline) really annoy me. The only premiums buildings that I’ve ever bought were ones that gave at least one of my characters somewhere new to go (and, often, were needed to make sure that a certain character has all of the task durations that the others had).

  10. I nabbed this, couldnt resist since I love animals, and it’s a good edition to the town. Would’ve been great if it had of had character interaction after the initial quest was completed. I’m hoping they’ll release the Animal Hospital with the Vet at some stage!!

  11. From a design point of view it works great with many other items

    • I think it’s a rather awkward shape, so I’m curious what you think it looks good with? I might be more willing to buy it if I can do cool designs with it.

  12. I love animals. I bought it. Couldn’t help myself. After all, it was my need for Jub Jub that pushed me into my first Boatload of Donuts purchase. It’s a nice building. I don’t regret it.

  13. I justified my bonuts to buy this one. Just had to have it since I recently rescued an English Bulldog from the shelter. It is quite large though…oh well. 🙂

  14. Isn’t it needed for the elephant, Stampy I believe it’s the name?

    • No. Stampy, the elephant is received as a Friendship Point prize and uses the Simpson House for his tasks. ☺

    • I think you’re confusing the animal shelter with the pet store (the one that comes with Jubjub). Stampy does have a task at the pet store, but not at the animal shelter. (I was about to say that I can’t imagine an animal shelter taking in stray elephants, but then I realized that I don’t think pet stores usually carry elephant chow, either, lol!)

    • I thought Stampy used the Springfield Pet Shop . I would check, but he is off on a 24 HR quest to redecorate the Simpson house, again.

Is there a “should I buy it” for White Witch Burns that I missed? He is the only premium that I am halfway interested in and I am not even sure if he is worth it or not.

  16. Ha ha lol HP.

  17. When I saw this the first thing I thought was “That isn’t the same building from Who Shot Mr.Burns!” And obviously it doesn’t come with the Vet (who has appeared in other episodes) But I guess I’m thinking of the animal Hospital and not an animal shelter so… That all make sense then. :p

Got to admit it is an odd building for Christmas time, maybe the WDTCF will shine a light on the reasoning.

  18. Larissa, if you could, can u try making an app? It’s just a suggestion, but it would really help me because it’s hard to keep jumping apps to see new posts. I know you have the baby and all, but it would be neat ☺

    • *Alissa (it auto corrected)

    • Sure….wanna donate a few thousand to create it?

    • Just subscribe to this site using an RSS app and have that auto-sync for you in the background. Or if you don’t use RSS, just have a browser tab dedicated to this site. This is a WordPress site and “making it an app” (i.e. wrapper app) would be a waste of time and money. Would you not have to switch to an app for this blog in any case?

      • Oops. Sorry for the double posts; I don’t comment much here.

      • thecrimsonslash: If you’re just in it for the posts… No extra app is needed. I subscribe to the site via email. It sends me an email of the post when it is published. The header on the email is the title of the post which, helps me decide if I want/need to read it. A quick email search for TSTO, and I have all the posts right there. The email looks just like the post ‘teaser’ on the Addicts home page, with the exception that instead of a ‘continue reading’ link there is a ‘read more of this post’ link which takes you directly to that particular post on the Addicts site. Then, it’s business as usual, navigating the site, or back to the email search results. Hope this helps.

        • What? You mean you don’t read ALL of the posts here?? I can’t imagine such a thing….

(Actually, the one thing I haven’t done is to see any of the videos or listen to the podcast…somehow, that’s something I’m having trouble making the time to do, even though I’m REALLY interested in learning more about the Addicts! Maybe I’ll try to get to that sometime today, while I’m cleaning or something….but I’ve said that before. 🙁 )

    • What makes it difficult? You can have the home page favorited/starred/pinned/etc and simply open that each time from your browser. If you need auto sync for new posts, subscribe to the site in an RSS app. It would be a waste of money and time to write a wrapper app for a WordPress site.

    • Yeah Larissa, listen to “the crimson slash” (all one word)
That’s exactly what we need around here, easier app jumping, I look forward to it, …..who’s with me?
      😂 😂 😁 😀 😄 😅 📵 🚶 🚥 🍦 🐼 🔫 👟 🙂
