Well here we are, in the most wonderful time of the year…Christmas in Springfield! The leaves on the trees have fallen, snow blankets the ground and there’s joy all around town!
This Event is broken up into 3 Acts, with each Act containing part of the story. To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act. Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event. For the First Act you’re tasked with collecting Santa Hats (
) to unlock each prize!
The thirdAct 1 prize awarded at 28,850 is Patches & Poor Violet! A Sherri and Teri like character combo for Springfield.
So let’s take a closer look at this fifth prize and just what happens when you unlock it in your Springfield…
Once you’ve collected 28,850 you’ll automatically be awarded Patches and Poor Violet and you’ll see this message popup:
You’ll have the ability to place them in your Springfield immediately or place it in inventory for later (store). If you store it, remember you’ll have to go into your inventory to retrieve it..
If you decide to place it you’ll see the character unlock message…
And they’re part of the More Kids Character Collection..
Patches and Poor Violet are full fledged characters for your Springfield. They come with a questline and a full set of tasks. However, they are considered ONE character. Everything they do will be done together, like Sherri and Teri.

What’s Next?
Bonus Donuts! Once you have collected the 28850 
Festive Hats needed for the Personal Prizes, you then will get the chance to earn some more for a Bonus Gift. Bonus Gift Rounds are 4000 Festive Hats. Once you reach the 4000 Festive Hats, the 3 Donut Box Pop Up will appear and you have a 1 in 3 chance to tap a box and get 3 Donuts. If you do not get the 3 Donuts, you can pay $150,000 to try again until you get the 3 Donuts you want.
So that my friends is the full breakdown of the fifth and final Christmas Act 1 prize!
Remember Act 1 ends and Act 2 starts on December 19th! So do your best to earn Patches and Violet before then so you don’t miss out!

I see I’m not the only one who missed out on Patches & poor Violet and the gingerbread upgrade. I am a several times a day player, and I have no idea how I missed them.
Is 125 donuts too much for patches and poor violet?… And what about 20 donuts to finish the gingerbread mansion?
IMO not really on Patches and violet. As far as the mansion..no.
so, as many of you here, i was very upset when I got the update the morning after without realising and I missed our on upgrading the ginger bread house and getting the kids. Now, I need to pay 50 donuts for the kids and 30 to fully upgrade the ginger bread house. was saving up donuts to get barney but im almost convinced to pay for the kids. is there any benefit for upgrading the ginger bread now? would it give anything that i could use in act 2? thanks

I’m deeply committed to this game, but I was kind of disappointed the other day. I was close to getting the last price in act one (Patches and Poor), but still a little behind. I really wanted them, so i decided to spend the 15 donuts the required. Unfortunately my game froze while loading the game, so I had to uninstall and reinstall the game. This meant I didn’t get back in the game in time before act 2 started. Is it possible to get them later in this event, with the same questline, so I won’t miss anything? Hope it won’t be too expensive, since i feel kind of cheated. EA won’t give me any good answer, so I guess I’m screwed 🙁
Look at your personal prizes and go tap on the “act 1” tab. (It’ll be on Act 2 right now) You can see their buyout cost right now.

I missed out on them as well but EA want 245 of my beautiful sprinkles for them! They’re dreaming. Totally not worth that. Gutted I missed out, time got away from me 😞
I was able to get them to 120 donuts before the act ended. Do they seem to be worth that many donuts?
Worth is up to you, but some things to consider: some characters cost that much, this one pays double like a premium, they’re limited so you won’t see them for a year or who knows.

Because I didn’t saw the update on time I downloaded it 2 a 3 days later. Now I didn’t unlock Patches & Poor Violet, But I can unlock it for 190 donuts. Is it worth 190 donuts. And can you get Mistletoe if you unluck them
Twins came to me for free. Completing few quests with them made me chuckle at the same time put teas in my eyes. Just so you know they act as one.
I fell short as well, which baffles me because I play every day.
So close to the orphans… But not close enough! Dernn-itt! But I don’t wanna miss out on a 2 character combo (Sherri n Terri are awesome and I like the high payout on tasks), so I’m just gonna shell out the 165 donuts to get them. I just hope that by doing so they pay out premium amounts. Either way, I’m going for it!
I was sooooo close to getting the two orphans but the the event changed… And I’m not getting Santa hats……I’m very mad….
Patches & Poor Violet
I think this is our first Freemium 2 Set of Characters (everything else has cost Donuts – right?). So, thank you EA for doing something right ….. lately I have enjoyed the tasks that end up rewarding you with Donuts (2nd thing I’m thankful EA has offered – more ways to earn Donuts) …. I have accumulated over 90 Donuts (but I don’t see any Event Premium worth getting)
Well, I got them… but I had to spend 80 donuts XD not terrible for a duo character at least, but sad I couldn’t get free.. my problems were twofold, a) my phone decided it didn’t want to play tsto all week so I could only play at home on my Kindle and b) the gingerbread house got triggered late for me, maybe 2 or 3 days after the snowman finished, because I had accidentally stored ned when rearranging my town XD I wish questlines pulled characters out of your inventory, like on family guy.hopefully the next act goes better!! 🙂
Wow… I didn’t come close to finishing Act 1, for the first time ever.
Thanks EA, for dropping a massive time-sink of an event during a time of year that folk have to cram for finals, rush to work for the holiday retail crunch, then try to grab three hours of sleep before doing it all again. Super, super fun event. Enhanced even more by being consistently screwed over on the naughty/nice gift thing. :/
On a more positive note, thank you, tstoaddicts crew, for all the work you put into this site- this is, bar none, the most helpful resource for this game!
Just wanting to publically berate myself for not getting these characters! I’m so annoyed! I was at 26500. But I didn’t play during the day for two days when I had to work this week. Should have brought my iPad with me! Dammit.
Okay I’ve been plying as usual and like others failed to get the final prize or finish the gingerbread house. Never had this happen at this rate of play – not very impressed. 🙁

Missed a prize for the first time, yet playing as much as usual. I normally get at least one set of donuts at the end. It didn’t help that the upgrade notification came over 3 days late. Peed off that if I want the orphans I’m going to have to spend 135 donuts on top of all the work I did – expensive . Looks like I’m not the only one to have had problems. Sad and mad!
Tip for next time…don’t rely on an in-game message for an update for a new event. When you know it’s getting to be around time for a new event, either check your app store every day to see if it’s hit, or subscribe to this site (via WordPress or by liking it inn Facebook) so that you’ll get an email when a new post comes out, so you can see when the post about a new event launch hits.
Starting an event ASAP is an important part of the strategy for being able to complete all of the first act on time.
Pretty upset. Been playing every day and now patches and violet are now 280 doughnuts. I’m so mad how time and money I’ve spent on this game and can’t even finish the first act of this event to get premium characters.
You just saved me from spending and extra 65 donuts and my wife 55 donuts. You just made our day. We had 4 minutes to spare before the end of act one.
Is Patches and Violet worth 95 donuts? I didn’t get enough hats and that’s what it will cost.
Depends on if you want them in your game. 95 Donuts for a Premium Character isn’t bad at all.
Will they be available later? I’m at 26000 with 1 hour to go, not going to make it, and I don’t have the donuts to complete. 😩
