Well here we are, in the most wonderful time of the year…Christmas in Springfield! The leaves on the trees have fallen, snow blankets the ground and there’s joy all around town!
This Event is broken up into 3 Acts, with each Act containing part of the story. To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act. Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event. For the First Act you’re tasked with collecting Santa Hats (
) to unlock each prize!
The thirdAct 1 prize awarded at 28,850 is Patches & Poor Violet! A Sherri and Teri like character combo for Springfield.
So let’s take a closer look at this fifth prize and just what happens when you unlock it in your Springfield…
Once you’ve collected 28,850 you’ll automatically be awarded Patches and Poor Violet and you’ll see this message popup:
You’ll have the ability to place them in your Springfield immediately or place it in inventory for later (store). If you store it, remember you’ll have to go into your inventory to retrieve it..
If you decide to place it you’ll see the character unlock message…
And they’re part of the More Kids Character Collection..
Patches and Poor Violet are full fledged characters for your Springfield. They come with a questline and a full set of tasks. However, they are considered ONE character. Everything they do will be done together, like Sherri and Teri.

Bonus Donuts! Once you have collected the 28850 
Festive Hats needed for the Personal Prizes, you then will get the chance to earn some more for a Bonus Gift. Bonus Gift Rounds are 4000 Festive Hats. Once you reach the 4000 Festive Hats, the 3 Donut Box Pop Up will appear and you have a 1 in 3 chance to tap a box and get 3 Donuts. If you do not get the 3 Donuts, you can pay $150,000 to try again until you get the 3 Donuts you want.
So that my friends is the full breakdown of the fifth and final Christmas Act 1 prize!
Remember Act 1 ends and Act 2 starts on December 19th! So do your best to earn Patches and Violet before then so you don’t miss out!

Got em with an hour and 11 min to spare. That was close. I think I got 2460 hats for the level 5 upgrade of the gingerbread house.
Well I did it. Wasn’t sure I would but I got there. I will never again refer to an event as “ridiculously easy” (Halloween). I’ve learned my lesson EA. Hopefully Act 2 will feel a little less impossible. Christmas is stressful enough without my favorite form of relaxation causing me stress as well. 😛
Just got them in my secondary town with an hour and twenty minutes to spare! Hooray for the GingerNed man!
I don’t think there were enough merry men throughout the game and completing the house is time consuming while trying to do other things. I really dislike when I cannot complete the last part of an act.

Do you guys think it’s possible to get them in the future on some sale or something? What’s TSTO’s history on bringing back some characters for donut purchase?
Honestly… depends on player demand. If enough write in and show popularity of an item, it is more likely to return.
So with just a couple of hours left I managed to get the orphans by the skin of my teeth! Thought I would be missing out on them for sure. Bring on Act 2!

I’ve spent 40 donuts rushing a task on the gingerbread house upgrade so should do this, but only an hour before act 1 ends 🍩 🍩 🎁 ⛄ ❄ 🎄 🙂
Completing the Gingerbread House quest rewards hats, so there may be hope for some of you guys.
5 hours to go with 26267 hats. I’ve also used my neighbour taps. I’m trying my best to get those two kids.
I’m so bummed I’m not going to get these guys. Any idea if we can craft for donuts in act 2? I’m so close to finishing the gingerbread mansion (2hrs from now). But I’m still at 27029 hats and have to earn 1821 to get them. Seems impossible but I keep trying. I’m out of neighbor merrymakers taps
If you are still upgrading your gingerbread house you will be able to get those kids. I just did with 4 hours and 55 minutes to go. I had 26267 hats and still upgrading my gingerbread house then after a few minutes my ghouse was done upgrading then i got about 2000+ hats which made it pass 28850 hats requirement to get them.

I got them about 4 days ago. It basically a character that pays double what any other character pays, which is awesome! So far really liking this event. I just got my bonus donuts for the third time and have picked the 3 donuts on the first try every time!
They are called Cosette and Pauvre (poor) Jacques in the French version of the game, lol.
Facing the fact that I will not be able to get the 3500 hats I need to get these two without spending donuts. So I’m tapping like crazy to bring it down to a justifiable price.
I doubt I can make it 🙁 I have 23224 hats rn and there are only 8 hrs left. I can buy them with 255 donuts now, but that seems way too much for how far I am. lol I always struggle with the last prize in an act, and it’s often the one prize I have any interest in getting. The fact that it’s a character makes me really want them, but oh well~ I’ll come back later to see the full dialogue instead. They’re a really sad couple of kids.
Considering I didn’t even get the update until 3 days into the event…yeah, not gonna get close. Stupid Flanders.
Firstly, I like dark humor. Dark life sucks, but if it’s not real, then it’s okay to laugh at the sad clowns.
I love these two characters. They make me laugh. Now I’m imagining them with a whipping master asking kindly, “please, may we have another?” They gave their last dollar to the less fortunate!? It almost makes me cry. But I chuckled instead.

Can anyone tell me how many hats you get for finishing the Gingerbread house? I will do that before the Act ends tonight, and I’m about 3000 hats short, so that is going to make a big difference to whether I make it or not.
Apart from that, I am just grinding merrymakers, the Woolly Bully, and I should get to level 10 on the Squishee hut before tonight as well.

I earned the last prize of the act this morning. I’m sitting at 32300 hats, but the bonut quest says I’m only at 900/4000. have I done something wrong?

You can’t call or email. You’ll most likely get the chat option. Go to EA’s website and click on help and follow the instructions…

It only starts counting after you get the final prize. So, if you overshoot the amount for the final prize (say, for competing the gingerbread mansion), then you don’t get credit for the amount you overshot by. Works that way every event.

That’s how the game works. Before they credit you for bonuts, you have to fully complete the prize track. If you finish the prize track with, let’s say, 4000 hats over, you lose those hats. Bonut rounds zero you out. It’s a tough thing to creep right up to the 28850 you need for the prize and to not go over.
I didn’t even realize the exact closeness I was. I’m not sure how many I lost, but not too many because I knew it was going to happen that way.
Does anybody know how long the tasks take to upgrade to level 5 on the ginger bread house I’m not sure if il be able to upgrade when act two comes in 12 hours?? Also about 1000 hats off patches and violet so hope I can get done, fingers crossed

Just curious if those having problems hitting the last prize are those who tried to strategize the snowman and gingerbread house by only sending a few characters, then the rest. I just played them as the game said and got them two days ago and have gotten two rounds of bonuts. I think completion of the gingerbread house gave me close to 2500 hats.
Yeah – I’m not sure that the doubling-up strategy was a good one. I’m definitely going to play Act 2 somewhat differently than I did Act 1.
What’s the doubling up all about? Like if you need 4 brainiacs to do a task, you send 3, and when they’re done, you send everyone you have? I did that some, but think I’ll do that for everything in the next round.

I’d be curious to hear some comparisons between people who did that and people who didn’t. (Although, given that there are twice a many things to build in Act 2, that strategy might not even be a realistic option.)

No, I used that strategy a few times, and it helps. The payout you get is much more than the fully-upgraded attraction would earn in the same amount of time.
I didn’t use the “strategy” Ryan, (and didn’t think it was a good idea when it was being discussed) ….the thing that always slows me down is having to go to work for 10 hours with no chance of tapping ❄ ⛄ 🍩 🎁 🎄
At work I’ll slip into the bathroom and can do event only tasks in an inconspicuous amount of time
I think a lot of people do that, ….I keep forgetting that I changed job about six weeks ago, and I only work 5-10 minutes away, (used to be an hour away)…so I can pop home at lunchtime for a quick tap if I can be bothered, 😊

Further to my earlier reply, I timed it this morning (Saturday) and it took 3 minutes to drive to work 🎄 🎁 ⛄ 🙂

I don’t think those are the people having problems finishing. I half-did it and was still 2 days ahead. Safi fully did it and was only like half a day behind me. I didn’t hear about “anyone”, on here, making it 3 or more days early (maybe I forgot already…), though I had some neighbors who had over 30k like 4 or 5 days or more before. I’m guessing it was via donuts.
I’d guess the people having problems just did not start early enough. You need to get the Wooly Bully going right away, and to be collecting from all the sources that you can. Only about half of the 28850 hats come from building and completing the Snowman and Gingerbread House. Another 2700 from finishing all the questlines. That still leaves about 10,000 hats to collect. If you’re a few days late, or lose a weekend, you might also have lost about 4000 potential hats, making it that much harder.
Approximately 8k come from merrymakers and 8k comes from rent collection, potentially (for a very diligent tapper). Those numbers are obviously reduced the less or later that you play.
The numbers are complicated and I’m not using a spreadsheet, but that’s what I’ve figured based on all the information I’ve gathered and calculated. Yes, you may call me a nerd, now. 😛

Is today the last day to earn patches and poor violet?? Can I earn act one prizes during act two? I’m 3000 hats away. Should I spend donuts to get them? I know currency changed too. Can I still craft prizes from act one throughout the event?

You can still craft prizes.
As far as donuts..that’s up to you. Keep playing as much as you can and see what you can do. But for donuts..you’ve got the breakdown above, I can’t tell you if you should or shouldn’t spend the donuts.
If I won’t be able to get them today, is it worth the donuts to buy them? Just wondering how stressed I should be if I can’t get everything done today…

After being just ahead of the calendar for most of the event, I was able to get out ahead and get these two with a couple days to spare. Still need something like 1000 more hats for any bonuts so that’s probably not going to happen. But very happy to have P&PV. Ready for act 2 now. 👍

Seriously…relax. Don’t I ALWAYS do Should I Buys for new content? Aren’t they ALWAYS up before time runs out to buy them if they’re limited-time? She just hit the store a couple of days ago and she’ll be here for a while. Act 1 ends today and Act 2 starts tomorrow…there’s loads of stuff pertaining to Act 1 that has to go up before that ends…and then new stuff for Act 2 that’ll have to go up…then the SIB will go up. It’ll be on the site next week…patience…

I’m sure it has been discussed elsewhere, but have others noticed that when you click on the prizes for Act 3, you see a prize cup in a very familiar blue color, with a pacifier and bow? Dare we get our hopes up?
