In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?
Woo hoo! It’s holiday time in TSTO and with the first Act of goodness comes all sorts of different items. I took my first look at everything and smiled big. Snowmen, merrymakers, holiday facades… so cool. I could probably gush and gush about everything but that’s not what I’m supposed to be doing… it’s time again for me to dip into my noggin of Simpsons info and write about specific stuff. For this post I will be going over one of the premiums offered with Act I of the 2015 TSTO Holiday Event… White Witch Burns. Oooh… Chronicles of Narnia references in TSTO… Woo hoo! If you saw the movie adaptation of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (2005), you probably remember the costume they came up with for the White Witch. I really dug Tilda Swinton’s performance in this movie, even if I waxed nostalgic for the character from the 1979 cartoon that I grew up with. There was also the 1988 mini-series but I’m digressing.
What the heck does this costume have to do with The Simpsons? Did Burns ever dress up like this? Well, the answer is yes and anyone who has seen the Christmas Intros from Season 25 and 26 might recognize this goodness. The first appearance was in “White Christmas Blues” (S25:E8).
The whole intro is Christmasy and makes me smile. During the scene where we usually see Marge and Maggie in their car, it’s transformed into a sled pulled by Santa’s Little Helper dogs. Burns as the White Witch with Smithers as Ginarrbrik try to run the Simpson girls off the road with their hounds. Thankfully Crazy Cat Lady shows up with her sled and cats which proves to enticing for the hounds.
I love these intros because I dig when the Simpsons animators try new things and completely decking out the intro animations we’ve all grown to love is no small feat. I was even more thrilled when they did it again for “I Won’t Be Home for Christmas” (S26:E9) and made more changes instead of just using the same-old-same. Basically the same but the Sea Captain joins in this time with a boat sled pulled by penguins lol.
And that’s your origin for White Witch Burns. Quick blips in two different intros that now are a full-fledged premium skin in TSTO. What are your thoughts? Did you buy him? Sound off in the comments. There’s a lot of premium costumes I would love to buy… but they’re pointlessly given to characters who are earning Monorail pieces or Heights items. It’s fine for the event, but I will NEVER see them again. The priority for me goes:
1. Event
2. Monorail (for 5 donuts a week)
3. Heights
4. Cash
5. Interesting visual tasks
I wish they would switch the Monorail/Heights tasks to be with lesser used characters that were from level updates (Chalmers? Agnes? Bernice Hibbert? Artie Ziff? Cocoa Freaking Beanie???). Or better yet, have the tasks rotate every week so all the characters gets a turn. Just a thought.
To bring it back to this topic, it’s a cool costume for the right price and it helps with the event, but after this event is done, I would never see it again. Burns will perpetually be making metal or buying coffee. It’s a shame.
Grrr they got rid of the crafting items
Is it just a bug on my end, or are you guys having trouble loading TSTO? It loaded fine when I first opened it and I got to tap everything in my town, when all of a sudden it went back to the beginning loading screen! Now if I open the app, it just loads on for eternity without anything happening, just the donut rolling… Help? 🙁

The intro with White Witch Burns is available on YouTube (not going to link, but it is easy to find.) One of my favorite intros (along with THOT one that Guillermo del Toro did,) especially where Patty and Selma are depicted as the Miser twins. Ah, memories.
I’m glad that the 1988 BBC version got a mention as I wasn’t sure if it was ever seen outside of the UK. It may be cheesy as hell, but I grew up with it, loved it and spent one of the best Christmases years later watching the complete DVD box set huddled up with the love of my life and newborn son (weather was the usual mixture of rubbish and crappy…). On a side note met Warwick Davis many times as he lived nearby and got him to sign it (as Reepicheep 🐭).
Strange how powerful nostalgia can be, needless to say this was a no brainer for me.
So take note EA if you want to me to part with my hard earned donuts (more please!!!)
I love that version we saw it here in Australia as kids, so many memories.
Had to mention it… so good and super jelly you got to meet my Warwick. He’s a legend… so many good roles. The closest I come to this was chatting with Deep Roy at Star Wars Celebration. He was so nice and it was sad that noone was at his table. Must admit I had him sign an image from his work in Burton’s Charlie & The Chocolate Factory and one from The Neverending Story.
Burns really knows how to make that dress work. This is probably my favorite costume for him since the Ebneezer Burns one.
