Should I Spend Donuts on the North Pole Station?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s Christmas in Springfield!  Time to hang the stockings and stock up on donuts because there are new Christmas themed premium items in our stores!  Now I know you may be trying to decide if these are worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

And of course some of you have gotten your Christmas wish…in that if you missed it, you can now get the Monorail!  (via the North Pole Station)  Many of you probably saw this popup in your game the other day…

Wondering if you should add the North Pole Station (and it’s included tracks) to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this festive station to your town!
northpolestation_menu

Building: North Pole Station
Donut Price:
160 Donuts
Earns:
$150, 15xp/8hrs
Conform-O-Meter Impact: Obedience +10
Size: 8×12
Leaves the game January 2nd

Pros:
-Comes with 18 additional tracks
-Comes with it’s own monorail car (unless you connect it to tracks that attach to another station, then it’s just 1 car for all the tracks) So if you missed the Monorail Event here’s your chance to get a Monorail!
-Comes with a short questline (task for Bart)

Cons:
-Pricey for just another station
-If you missed the Monorail Event, or the Rail Yard, you have no way of earning more tracks for this station.  So 18 is your max.

Final Thought:
Premium Take:
This is one of those…if you like it get it items.  If you want the station and you think it looks cool pick it up.  Or if you’re really mad you missed the Monorail Event and REALLY want a Monorail in your Springfield.  Otherwise pass.    Personally, I’m passing on it.  Just doesn’t have enough benefit for me to pick it up..

Freemium Take:
Again….stay away…stay far far away from this one.  In my opinion, it’s just not worth those hard earned freemium donuts.  There’s no real benefit to adding it to your town, other than having an additional station.  And if you missed the Monorail the last time it was in Springfield, ask yourself is 160 donuts (which I could spend on charcters etc) really worth it for 1 Monorail station and 18 tracks?  In my mind, this is a complete freemium pass.

Here’s a look at the short questline that comes with it…

Poles Apart
Otto Auto starts (even if you don’t have him)

Otto: Hey, little dude.  Wanna come join the fun on the Polar Express?
Bart: I dunno Otto.  You can barely control a school bus.  Now you’re running a monorail to the North Pole?
Otto: Monorail’s easier.  I can drive it with my eyes closed.  Which I plan to do.
Bart: Maybe I will come along…I need to see what list Santa’s got me on this year.  I’m not getting “naughty” six years in a row!
Make Bart Ride the Monorail- 4hrs, Earns $175, 45xp
Bart: Yo Otto, this train is just going in circles.  When are we gonna get to the actual north pole?
Otto: No can do, little dude.  My pole privileges have been revoked since the accident.
Bart: Bu you said to come ride the Polar Express!
Otto: I plowed into Santa and his sleigh.  You can’t get away with that without making a lot of elf enemies.  Unfortunately this is as good as it gets until Santa chills out and gets the “cool” gene.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you as a premium player I’m passing on this one.  Just not worth it to me.   However, this IS a limited-time item.  So if you’re thinking about getting it make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games.

What are your thoughts on the North Pole Station?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield (or did you already)? Where have you placed it?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. It’s a cool station, too bad it doesn’t come w/ other pieces or an option to get them like the North Pole Station. Anyone know if there’s a monorail station limit? I’ve seen up to 12 in some towns. Is there ever going to be a 3way connector to hook 1 line to another? Thanks!
