Where Did THAT Come From – Buckingham Pay-Less Motel

TSTO… TSTO… MistleTSTO today… Santa really should tell jokes cuz all of them would sleigh.

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

Woo hoo! It’s holiday time in TSTO and with the second Act of goodness arrived more goodness for all of us.  I could probably gush and gush about everything but that’s not what I’m supposed to be doing… it’s time again for me to dip into my noggin of Simpsons info and write about specific stuff. For this post I will be going over the fourth prize that came with Act II of the 2015 TSTO Holiday Event… the Buckingham Pay-Less Motel. But what does this fancy lodging building earned for 27,450 Mistletoe have to do with the Best. Show. Ever.? What does it have to do with The Simpsons and Christmas? Well.. let’s take a look at the TV Series to find out.

“The Regina Monologues” (S15:E4)

So our fourth prize for Act II isn’t from a Christmas Episode but I suppose EA wanted to find a bunch of different things to offer for us. My guess is this episode is a particular favorite for at least one of the designers. Our favorite family winds up with a one thousand dollar bill after it floats away from Mr. Burns straight to their house. They do the right thing and post a sign and all of Springfield tries to claim it but no one actually knows what a thousand dollar bill looks like. Moe thinks Hitler is on the front… jeesh. Now what to do with the money? “It’s Bart’s Moon Party from Outer Space with R2D2 playing the bass!”

Bart's Moon Mansion Party R2D2 playing the bass

Woo hoo!  Artoo!  Just because some of you have asked… yes I saw Episode VII and yes I enjoyed the piss out of it.  Now back to your regular scheduled origin post.

Bart thinks about using the money to take his Mom on a vacation where Homer doesn’t end up kidnapped or in a chain gang but instead opens up a treehouse museum for folks to see it. Burns shows up to get back his bill but the good news is the exhibit took in three grand. Vacation it is… The Simpsons are off to England! Grampa convinces them to go by telling a story about his love affair there while serving in WWII. And where should they stay during the vacay? The Buckingham Pay-Less Motel.

The Vacation is great. It’s classy with cabs with butlers, err, English gentleman. Mr. Bean, I mean Prime Minister Tony Blair greets them upon their arrival. There’s J.K. Rowling, Sir Ian McKellan as (insert bad luck name here written by Shakespeare and rhyming with MacBeth <insert fuzzball struck by lightning>), Judi Dench’s Fish & Chips, Prince Albert in a Can, a roundabout, Bond references, Harry Potter, a Trainspotting montage involving candy, and the Queen herself. Seriously funny stuff.  I didn’t even include all the hilariousness… it’s a treasure trove of wit done really well.

The Simpsons Go To England

So there you go… a new item that comes from a funny episode lampooning the British. Tony Blair even voiced himself… that’s pretty cool. Did you earn the Motel yet? What are your thoughts? Did you like this episode too? Sound off and merry tapping friends.

TTFN… Wookiee out!

Oh yeah… we also meet Homer’s half-sister Abbie at the very end.

  1. So that is how the ended up in England. I missed the first half of the episode.

  2. Is this the episode where they had to take Madonna back to the States?

    “Oim telling yew, Oim English!!”

  3. Already Springfield is giving us so many characters, buildings and decorations ☺

  4. Wait, I hear that there will be no more crafting in Act 3? So, we need to spend our loot now before it begins right? Or, did I hear wrong information. Help! I dont want to waste my hard earned ornaments. Also, if there is no more crafting, does that mean no more dropping presents in neighbors town?

  5. So where do we sign the petition to start a Brit themed event in Springfield!? Don’t want to see our crappy weather take over, but anything else would be cool (not a fan of Blair’s smug fizzog either, come to think of it!). Anyway, count me in 😉

  6. Yup we need ALL the English stuff in our game

    and as it’s new year’s eve, here’s a relevant question…..
Did Nelson’s Column ever appear in the show?

I would spend donuts on any English stuff and Harry Potter stuff…all the kids could have a Hogwarts skin 🙂

  7. Is the Hastings Book store JK Rowlings if it is we need JK Rowling, Tony Blair and the Fish n Chip shop I’m British so I love this stuff lol 🙂

  8. So ummm if this item isn’t actually IN Springfield when are we getting a Britain expansion land 😀

    • I suggest a “The Simpsons Are Going To ……..!!!!” Event, or an Around the World event.

So, when Homer Blew up Springfield, he Blew up the entire world too?

I have no problem with my neighbors across the pond but besides a number of corky buildings, what else can be added? I want characters but since we don’t get celebrities I can’t really think of any fictional Simpson characters outside of the Guy stealing Homer’s Sugar pile for his cup of tea.

      Cheers :p
