In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?
Woo hoo! It’s holiday time in TSTO and with the second Act of goodness comes all sorts of different items. I am in love with this event! I could probably gush and gush about everything but that’s not what I’m supposed to be doing… it’s time again for me to dip into my noggin of Simpsons info and write about specific stuff. For this post I will be going over two of the craftable items offered with Act II of the 2015 TSTO Holiday Event… X-Mas Trees Slightly Irregular and the Ice Sculpture Couch Gag Scene. Let’s start off with the Christmas Tree Stand, shall we? Do you remember where this comes from? I think most fans should but I know we can’t all cram our brain with Simpsons knowledge. Unlike me, some people have real jobs lol. Anywho… let’s take a look at the Best. Show. Ever.
“Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire” (S1:E1)
Oh nostalgia. The Simpsons Christmas Special. Funny that the very first episode ever was something you’d normally see a season or two into other sitcoms. The place where this whole mess of 583 episodes over 27 seasons started. I’m sure most of us have seen this episode where our favorite family gets Santa’s Little Helper. EA has picked items previously from this gem but finally brought us one of my favorite gags… X-Mas Trees Slightly Irregular (I have to admit it kills me to abbreviate Christmas so you’ll forgive me if I stop now.)
Basically, Bart ends up ruining the family’s plans for an extravagant Christmas by getting a tattoo for Marge. They had a big jar of money but the tattoo removal used it all up.
Mr. Burns announces there will be no Christmas bonuses and everything is ruined. Homer decides to take on a second job as a Mall Santa to pad the loss of dinero. He does the shopping at Circus of Values and we all remember where the Christmas Tree comes from.
That was sort of a test for y’all. Homer actually steals a tree from a forest. He couldn’t even afford the $45 trees from our new craftable item lol. As a bonus for this round of origins… I figured I’d tack on the Ice Sculpture Couch Gag Scene since EA did my job again for me with this one.
Not sure how I feel about them giving origins since one of my favorite things about this blog gig is watching episodes again so I can show you images of where items come from. I know everyone doesn’t have the FXXNow App (but you should) or remember everything from episode so I took a screen shot for y’all. No surprise this is actually the Couch Gag from “Whiskey Business” (S24:E19). We see a big block of ice and three sculptors craft The Simpson family. Grampa then turns up the heat and it melts. Now it’s available in our games if we choose to craft it. You think it will melt with the snow in January?
So there’s some origins friends. Did you craft them? If you didn’t know, the glitch for the Christmas Trees has been fixed so if you were waiting for it, go ahead and add this beauty from the very first Simpsons episode to your towns. I’m not sure if I want the Couch Gag but I am a completist so I probably will. Sound off with your thoughts on both in the comments and happy holiday tapping. The name christmas trees slightly irregular comes from the episode you mentioned, but in Season 15 “Tis The Fifteenth Season” The craftable lot we have looks exactly like the lot in that episode with the same exact dumpster and little shack in the same configuration. The shack even has the exact same snow on top and the dumpster has the same two blue trash bags next to it. So, I’m pretty sure they were inspired by a combination of those two episodes. What do you think?
I’ll have to check it out again but you’re probably right. Once I do I’ll add it and give you props. I was just going by the name.
Kinda added to my couch gag ice sculpture, Grandpa in the back, and santa’s little helper, and snowball 2 on each side, slightly to the front. All turned so they can gaze upon the Best Snowman Ever 😀
The regular ice sculptures stay frozen all year round so hopefully the ice walls and couch stay frozen as well 🙂

“WHA-A-AAAA-AT???” (Imagine in Moe’s most shocked voice)… For me, the couch gag craftable was an absolute must-have. There’s just no telling what floats some addicts boats! ;))
