Howdy-ho Tapperinos! We’ve gotten an episode tie-in featuring Sanjay’s son, Jamshed. Along with that comes some new (and returning) items in the store. Now I know you may be trying to decide if these are worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it! We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add the Quick & Fresh to your Springfield? Well, before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this hip store to your town!

Pros:

-Minor animation (fan on top spins, and when in use, the doors open)
-Funny dialogue between Jay and Cletus when you buy

-Impacts gluttony, which is pretty easy to max out

Honestly, this is a pretty good buy in my opinion. It’s pretty inexpensive for a premium building and gives some variety to the stores offered in town. Of course, in the end it’s your decision; we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell I’ll be picking up this one. However, remember this is limited-time. So if you’re thinking about getting it, make sure you do so before January 20, which is when it leaves the store.

I am really upset I missed out on this. I saw this episode and I liked the design. Then i found out it WAS available to buy for 30 DONUTS!!!!!!!! It would of been an instant buy for me.
It is a huge building…didn’t realize how large till I tried to place it.
Been having fun though, with the 4 hour everyone-can-do-it tasks for this building and the tie-in. Sent my entire town (with a few exceptions) to QuickiMart earlier, and when they finished andi clicked in the huge pile of icons, it sounded like I hit the jackpot in Vegas. Have 90 or so selling their homegrown foods now, so will have it again in a few hours….

Gluttony is hard to max-out for freemium players, so I’d consider this a pro.
Khlav kalash carts. Not hard to max out at all.
You can buy Khlav Kalash stands. They’re cheap ($760) and if you don’t like how they look, you can stash them behind buildings or large decorations.

Every other building with a cash register icon has been consumerism (including the chocolate factory) so it’s weird to me that this is gluttony. I know the collection icons aren’t set in absolute stone, but they seem to be pretty reliable. Stop confusing me, EA!
Anyway, I still like this building, even if it doesn’t prop up consumerism. I bought it because it was cheap and I had the perfect spot for it. Yeah, it’s large, but I actually needed a large building for this area, and the colors happened to work well. I won’t be buying multiples, though. Even if I had donuts to spare, one is enough.
I agree it’s weird. But i’ve checked the file over and over and it says it’s gluttony.
Thanks for this post, the fact it gives Jay a premium job is a definite plus. Just need to think about the size of it, I know I’ve got the space but it’s whether it would be too dominating.
isn’t this one of the few buildings the tank can blow up? That seems like the best reason to me… if you got the tank.

I’ll probably get this because it’s so inexpensive (and not another diner or bar)…gonna need a bunch more land open to accommodate it, plus the Cracker Factory and YMCA that I bought during the recent-ish Gil’s Deal but haven’t placed yet. Maybe I’ll spend a little time this weekend on some “town management”….unless a new level hits between now and Monday, it should be a pretty quiet time for me, TSTO-wise, since I’ll have finished the rail yard tasks for the week and the event questlines/tasks.

I need to do a redesign, too, but I’m going to wait until I bonuts are over. The problem is I need to move around large sections of town, which is a pain. I really wish we had a “move large section” feature in the game. It’d be such a time saver!

You have a valid point, and it’s why I felt “guilty” when I decided to store the snowman and the gingerbread mansion after the holidays were over, even though they earned $$/XP. But, I want to give those premium items the time and attention they deserve…if I bring them out at the wrong time, they can end up feeling like more of a nuisance than a delight. But I probably should have placed one of them on Saturday or today, since there’s a bit of a lull in the game now, but, to be honest, I’ve kind of been enjoying a couple of days of that….

I was going to say touché, but $$ & XP aren’t nearly as enticing as free donuts (although I do realize that, eventually, XP = free donuts, so, well, touché, I guess 😉 ).

Thanks, Kim! I initially wanted to pick up several of these, as I like buildings with quick turnovers for neighbors’ taps, but the size of it is making me hesitate. I think I’ll see how my neighbors use this building and then decide.
Well it is reasonably priced, but it’s big and has no sentimental value for me. Its from the new episode, I believe? And I’m not familiar with the Fresh & Easy stores it’s apparently based on.

Why is not having a character a con? No Character Is 30 donuts! (Not Counting Npcs of course)
It’s her interpretation of cons, not everyone is going to agree with them. To Kim the fact that it didn’t come with a character was a con. Although at the end she’s telling you it’s worth getting.
Thank you Kim for pointing that out to new players like me who might assume every building comes with a character as that is all I’ve encountered on the way to level 12 and this could be my first premium spend 🍩 🐻 🎈 🙂

These are based off of Fresh & Easy grocery stores, and we have a few in California, so I knew that I had to buy this when I saw it. Was waiting for this post though to make sure it was the best choice. I’m sold! 🙂
Hadn’t realised that was the inspiration; although I’ve heard of Fresh & Easy because they were owned by Tesco.
This was on my short list of accessories to purchase with fremium bonuts. So many great memories of the Fresh and Easy near my house. It went out of business last year, so at their closing I stocked up on discounted goods like a year’s supply of TP at 60% off, bags of cashews at $3.50/lb, bottles of Evolution Fresh and jars of sauces/marinades for only $1 each. I was almost as happy as the booze hounds simultaneously loading their cars haha.

That’s funny because it reminds me of the shop just a few blocks away from the hotel I always stay at when I’m Boston. After I dump my luggage and pee, I immediately go there to stock up on food and booze. 😀
Really? Okay then, I have three guesses as to which chain that could be maybe…Whole Foods (a.k.a. “Whole Paycheck”), Trader Joe’s, or Wegman’s(sp?). Do you remember what the name is?

That’s been such a common “code name” for Whole Foods that Stop and Shop (a large grocery store chain in parts of the U.S.) now has a whole commercial about their great “natural” and “organic” food selection and they say “and you don’t have to spend your whole paycheck to get it” (which is a absolutely, no question, intended as a snide dig at Whole foods).
hehe that’s great. we don’t have stop and shop out here i don’t think, but it sounds like Sprouts, which we do have and shop weekly at.
back when the tv channel Planet Green existed, the wife and i used to watch Emeril Green, and seeing him shop and cook in whole foods made us wanna shop there from time to time. the prices were so outrageous though, that it didn’t take long before we gave that up….
Generally speaking, they are ridiculously expensive; however, there are a few types of items for which they can actually have good prices (even lower than at “regular” grocery stores). For example, their bulk oat bran is cheaper than getting a box of it at the grocery store. Their store brand pita chips are also a lot cheaper than Stacey’s.
I also like to wander around Whole Foods and taste the various food samples…I’ve found a few great items that way and even one or two of those that I could actually afford (like the fig spread that they sell that they often have on sale).
Shaw’s on Huntington Ave where the Duck Boats park.
Shaw’s…really? Huh – never thought there was anything all that special about Shaw’s…just another supermarket chain like Stop & Shop.
I love visiting grocery stores when I travel…love seeing how they differ and what products they might have that my local ones don’t.
I’m always amazed to go grocery shopping with my family in the Midwest. They are huge. And people don’t just buy what they need for the day. Instead of handheld baskets they use huge push carts and buy hundreds of dollars worth of food at a time.
That’s not the Midwest, that’s the suburbs. Anywhere. People shop like that where I live (suburb of Boston), too. When I go back to NYC, the tiny little aisles and tiny little carts at the little Gristedes across the street from my mom’s apartment building seem so odd! (Of course, those carts need to be small, because you can spend $100 just buying a few items. The prices there are *insane*! My parents actual have taken to driving out to Yonkers to do their grocery shopping because the prices are so much higher in the city.
My main grocery store is 6 aisles with very normal stuff reasonably priced. There is another closer but only 4 aisles and is all overpriced hipster crap
Someday we should explore what each of us mean by “reasonably priced”….be interesting to compare prices on a few items.

I ended up getting this one because it’s pretty cheap and looks very different. But I almost didn’t because it’s HUGE. 9×10 for the reference of others is more foot print and nearly as tall as two of the ski chalets put together. Not quite as tall as Costington’s but a slightly bigger footprint.

I’m not sure the humor you were going for, but I meant that the scales of different buildings can be wildly different. If they were all 1:1 scale (based on character size) that would be ideal (although, yes, we’d need more land yet again). Or all the same smaller scale.
Does my bear cave get lost in the woods? Almost the point of it (though I wouldn’t say I lose track of it). Does a bear attend the Springfield Heights Institute of Technology in the woods? 😉 😛

the scale is all over the place though, and that really doesn’t bother me in this game. i imagine i’d feel different if it were a more realistic simulation game like sim city or cities skyline or whatever…
Well, standing out in a bad way, yes. Not in a good way like the Lard Lad (which I like seeing) stands out. Stand out in a bad way like the SH buildings that, besides being huge, don’t resemble anything I’m familiar with in the Simpsons. Since I haven’t seen this episode (nor will I for at least a while) it would fit into a few of these categories.
i disagree about it being huge… in fact, it’s fairly comparable in size to buildings we’ve been getting recently, like the playdough factory and the ayn rand school for tots. and i dunno how you measured it being nearly as tall as two ski chalets, but it’s not even as tall as one of them…
the reneducation center is HUGE. this is on par with other buildings in the game already like the cracker factory, the writer’s building, woosterfield hotel, springfield mall, springfield skating rink, etc. i’m glad to see kim agrees, and didn’t include its size as a con (reps for another great post neighbor!).
