It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread! So, let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.
So…here is your Open Thread. No new Simpsons tonight…actually there won’t be another new episode until Valentine’s Day. BUT we are nearing the end of the Deep Space Homer mini event. Did you enjoy it? Are you enjoying it? How far have you gotten? What do you think will hit next?
How was your weekend? Do anything fun and exciting? Can you believe today’s the last day of January? Before you know it it’ll be spring!

I’m feeling a little bad. I visited my mom for her birthday, even bought her a cake. But I did not do anything for my (little) brother’s birthday. He had some of the cake, but I spaced about his birthday being a couple months ago. I should have “officially” included him in the “celebration”.
His birthday is in December. It was a hectic month so I thought staying home made more sense than visiting…(I don’t live too close.)
Hah, the old open thread. I better go post this in the “real” thread….
Just a suggestion maybe send him a later present, it’s always cool to get a present out of nowhere after a holiday. Sometimes those are the ones you remember.

I just pray that we don’t get the commentary for Leonard Hoffstedder and dummies like we have with the last few games I’ve seen, ….the BBC are trying to be helpful, explaining the game to new viewers but I was watching back when Elway was the Broncos quarterback ….I’m sure they started showing football when channel 4 was new in the mid eighties (yes believe it or not there were only three TV channels before 1982, no cable, satellite, or internet)

I just checked the TV schedule and the game is on BBC2 …..11pm till 3:30am in England, then my alarm goes off at 6am for work

I’m surprised you care so much about it, being a Brit and all…I’m in the U.S. and I don’t care about watching it at all, lol! (Yes, there really are some Americans who don’t watch the Super Bowl…)
I don’t care for the Super Bowl either. I’m also American. But I did tune in just to watch The beautiful Lady Gaga😲
I’m not having anything to do with the Super Bowl. We Aussies play a different type of football LOL. If that had something for our football grand finals I’d be in that!

I noticed as I skimmed conversations here something about spoons. I looked it up to become more familiar. It seems like it might be a helpful analogy. But then a bit of humor of came to mind. If you find it “distasteful” just let me know.

Dark and/or inappropriate humor are my specialties. It’s difficult for me to keep it in check on here, because you never know how people may react. Trust me, you didn’t even come close to crossing the line with that one! (And no, that’s not a challenge!! Lol 😉 )

I’m ready to feel bad if that really wasn’t cool. Overjoking is a serious problem.
I’ve got another friends town donut question (I had one a couple of weeks ago). I used to get a donut every single day from visiting friends. Then I went on a break from the game for a while, and now I haven’t received a single donut from friends since the xmas event ended. So my question is: is it possible to find donuts in friends towns no matter where you are in the game, or do you have to have maxed out all your friend points first? I still have about 3 friends point prizes to collect.
You need to get all the friend prizes, then you have a chance for donuts.
My theory about the fairly sharp increase in ways to earn donuts is that when donuts are easy to come by, you (& by that I mean me!) spend them more easily…
So even though we earn more we don’t really save more.
Found myself looking at the stadium stands thinking ‘only 5 donuts! I’ll make those back quickly!’ Before all these new ways of earning donuts I hardly ever even considered buying a mere decoration for donuts – As a Freemium player, donuts were almost exclusively for buildings with characters!
Once we get used to instant gratification spending donuts more easily on any little thing that grabs our fancy, it’s only a little change to buying the little pink demons for real world cash…
The only question remaining is that since I suspect/know it’s a trap (even if it is a very nice trap thank you EA) do I fall into it? 😄

It changes as you level up..but basically yes.

So early last month, I started building the aspirational buildings I didn’t already have. I’ve been letting them sit with the check marks over the foundations, just waiting for a new level so I could cash in on their XP. Today, with 30 mil in the bank, I got tired of waiting and activated my XP accelerator. With three aspirationals ready to drop, plus spending my millions for big-XP decorations, I netted 25 donuts. Not too bad. (Maybe we’ll finally get level 60, now 🙂 )
How hard was it to not tap those check marks? I know I’d want to!
I tucked them in an unused corner so I could avoid them. As I rearranged my town a little, though, I started crowding that corner and was worried about accidental tappage.
Are you kidding? It killed me just knowing that she resisted. I’m glad she’s not my neighbor. 😉 (But if you don’t do that again, I’ll consider it.. 😛 )
I can make no such promise. I sometimes use unfinished foundations to fill empty spots in my town; I sometimes like the “under construction” vibe, I think it’s realistic.
Okay. We’ll just be comment neighbors. But pylons can give it that vibe. Basically what under construction is at the Squidport.
Pylons here mark road construction. Fences and holes in the ground mark building construction. 🙂
It’s all good, though. I have eighty-some neighbors. I also don’t expect to find neighbors here, being the habitual vandal that I am.
All good, indeed. I have 95 neighbors…and I’ve hidden most.
I welcome vandals, though. More income that I wouldn’t normally get. I randomly vandalize my neighbors every so often. If they drop me, they drop me, or they appreciate the extra income.
Do you get more income from vandalism? I know you get a payout from a building that normally doesn’t but you also get more than you usually would for other buildings. Like a brown house that pays out $6 (plus bonuses) would pay out $26. I don’t know the exact amount, and I haven’t tested it, but I always assumed it payed the same as a vandalized building.
I don’t know the difference. I’d have to test it.

I just had a few handshakes in my town so I did a little testing. The Simpson house paid out $68 more with the handshake tap than with no handshake. Kwik-E-Mart and 4hr non premium buildings (base pay $90) paid out $69 more with the handshake than without. I’m guessing the $1 discrepancy has to do with bonus %. I’ll need someone to vandalize me to see what that pay out is for that.
Good job. I’ll vandalize you, and you vandalize me. We’ll did out tomorrow.
Don’t forget, too, that if you have maxed out your FPs, you get triple the amount of XP and cash for friend stuff (I know you do for tapping stuff in friend’s towns, but I believe that also applies to collecting friends’ taps in your town, as well, since it’s supposed to be your compensation for not earning FPs anymore…)
And now I can confirm, vandalism pays out the same as if you tap a building. $69 for clearing the graffiti off the school.

For clearing graffiti? I’m guessing there is a base payout, but it’s affected by either bonus % or your friendship prize level. Like visiting other towns pays out more the higher your friendship level.

In my early days of playing, handshakes didn’t give me any extra cash. I’m not sure when they changed it, but they certainly pay an equivalent of vandalism now (I checked a few months back.) Also, in my early days of playing, cleaning graffiti was the only way to raise my randomly-dropping righteousness rating, an issue that I can now correct with training walls. And finally, in the early stages of Frink Point prizes, the only thing to give points in my own town was vandalism, while now all handshakes pay them as well.
I’ve retained my fondness for the spray cans, though. In fact, I wish they would add vandalism to the cooling towers and retirement home.
Also add graffiti to the Winter Event construction “buildings” like the exotic zoo.

Hi guys! Just a personal update:
I’m pretty worn out and exhausted; I’ve been pushing a little too hard lately and my body and brain are paying for it. I need to take some down time for a bit. I’m still trying to go to Bacchus (New Orleans Mardi Gras parade) on Sunday for at least part of it. My husband’s been living here 4 years and hasn’t been even once, so it’s important to us that we at least try. (Between my health and his job, we only make it out about twice a year for something “fun.” Ridiculous, I know.) Anyway, I’ll be around the site less for the next few days and tapping less, too, but I’ll try to at least keep my town clear for neighbors and do my neighbor visits. Just bear with me for now, and I’ll be back in full swing soon (I hope!) !!
Oh, and I’ve gotten a few friend requests recently but only have a couple of open slots, so if you see this and you’re one of those requests, let me know so I can add you!

Seems they fixed the rocket not issuing a second or third round of debris. After renewing my rocket, it just gave me debris with a second round of it in inventory. Now if only I could get the other 5 times in inventory as well.
