Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Well many of you have been requesting it, so what better time than now for another edition of Springfield Showoff! This is where we want to see what you’ve done with your Springfield!
With all the new space items from the Deep Space Homer Event, I thought now would be a great time to show us your space stuff! Especially after Wookiee gave you some design ideas…
S0000….we’ll be putting up the Showoff post, featuring your designs, on Thursday (2/4). So show us what you’ve done with your TSTO Space stuff!
So grab some screenshots of your town, or finish up those designs…just make sure it is there by about 9pm EDT Wednesday (2/3). We can’t wait to see what YOU have come up with.
Note: PLEASE try to limit your submissions to only 1-2 of your favorite screenshots. We like to try and let everyone showoff their town but it becomes difficult when some of you are sending in 7-10 images. Pick your favorite areas and send them in (or if you stitch photos together, that works too). We’ll try our best to get EVERYONE in, but please understand that sometimes we miss a photo or two. If we miss you one week, we’ll try really hard to make sure we get you in the next week. You’re always welcome to showoff your town, at any time, on our Flickr page. We know a lot of you have awesome towns that you want to show off, but please try to stick with this week’s theme. Remember, this isn’t a contest. There’s nothing to win. It’s just a fun way to showoff your town and get some design inspiration from your fellow Addicts. 🙂

How did you get two launching pads?
It was a glitch in the game that allowed it. It’s since been fixed.

I like what you did with the end of the runway (using the beach chairs)…very clever!
You did a really great job. It puts my design to shame.
That is very creative. I like the way you grouped NARA, the Cracker Factory, and the Super Collider building
Lots to like about this, clever use of phone booths to make the entrance kiosk, the deck chair run off that sandra commented on, using the collider as airport terminal works really well too. Is that a sacking day wind sock?
Awesome airport/shuttle area! Such a great use of decorations that makes me want to keep working on my space area 🙂
I just got the kodos bush thingy from my returning space shuttle. I already had the other one so I’m happy.

Why can’t I play find maggie.it says timer and when I click done it freezes up and won’t do anything.this will cost me time of play and probably donuts.can someone please fix this…..

This is what I have so far… But I really like the idea of using the Modern Mansion Side Building with its satellite dish so changes are already on the cards!
Apart from using boardwalk benches on my boardwalk viewing platform I haven’t found the right building/decoration to use cos the ones I like can’t go on the boardwalk (station & mansions pieces). Any suggestions welcomed!
Michael’s Handy Hint of the Day…
I used AutoStitch Free (cos I’m a cheapskate) on iPhone to make this pic for those wanting to give it a try. Took 6 screenshots with quite a bit of overlap (waited before taking each one so that the menu stuff disappeared). Loaded them into AutoStitch & it joined them up. Decided where to crop by moving the 4 big blue dots to where I wanted them. Saved to Camera roll. Uploaded to Flickr. Copied link into Comments. Done!
I just removed a space base before the space update came, woohoo! Had been waiting for this. Just made small tidy base, wish I had known about the second platform before they fixed it 🙁

but by coincidence, I started to dismantle the area last night, as I’ve been looking and thinking ……I don’t want a burning rocket in my town 3/4 of the time, it looks a mess 🚀 🙂
i agree fully about the burning rocket, which is why i’m glad i took advantage of the launch pad glitch. put the duplicate in my main area, and will consider putting the burning one in a more remote area.

honestly sometimes it appears, sometimes it doesn’t. As long as the link is there it’ll make it in the post.
Most likely a link that ends in “.png” or “.jpg” will fix that. Let’s see:

The other options are image specific services (like imgur and flickr (I guess)), where you can paste their URLs and it will embed with extra formatting. They should, at least. This is not true for dropbox (what you just used).
I really dislike dropbox and google drive. I can’t JUST see the image unless it’s embedded into the comments section (which literally means I still can’t just see the image). If I try to just get the image on these services it makes me download the pic…I don’t want the pic. I just don’t want to wait for the rest of the bloat to load just for a simple pic! Depending on my internet speed at the time (it changes) I may never see the images people are sharing. (And don’t get me started on flickr….) Yes, this was a rant. Thank you for ignoring it. 😉 😛
Thanks for the feedback. I agree that Dropbox is a bit of a hassle. It shouldn’t be so time consuming.

It’s in a newly purchased area but I may leave it there. I like that NARA’s only neighbour is the orphanage. Too bad no one cares that the noise from the rocket launching might disturb their sleep.

I’m so happy with the space update! I’ve been wanting to build an airport / space center type of area in my Springfield for a while and have only been able to park a few things next to each other up until now.

I made a runway, lined up all the aircraft on a flightline next to it, added the rocket launch pad (my rocket is currently off getting a prize, likely debris, at the moment), and secured the whole area with fencing and a radar tower. I added on to the NARA building with a spare superhero building, and I have a little bit of space to grow in case I feel like putting another space-like building nearby (I have my eye on the observatory). Finally, I put the pilot bar in the neighborhood so the astronauts have someone to grab a drink after work. It looks like one of them parked their Lamborghatti Fasterosa outside.

I hope you don’t mind the repeated “haven’t been able to do much with space” comment, but that’s me, too.
Before I get serious with it I’m contemplating if it should be near SH for grinding. Some people have SH buildings in SF proper, and that may well make more sense. Then I could have SH buildings near the rocket and also near the dump. SH area would then have more breathing room for the rich folk. Other option is that I have the two launch pads, so I could just put it in a proper design, placeholder style, and move the rocket temporarily when I’m grinding, storing the empty one when I’m done.
I hope that interested at least one person.
I wish we had a weekend between when we know it’s coming and when it’s “due”….with what’s going on at work this week, there’s no way I can get any designing done. Right now, my three space buildings are just sitting in a row…not worth clogging up the interwebs with.
Sorry lady, just decided to do it after reading several comments over the weekend of people requesting it. Trying to get it in before the next thing hits, which is why deadline is wed. night, so it can go up Thursday morning. Cause I think once the next thing hits most people won’t care about space designs (Especially if it’s an event)…that and I go back to work on Monday. So I’m trying to get stuff going before I get bogged down with work…
Oh, makes total sense…I’m just sorry I won’t be able to “play”! (But totally not a big deal…I look forward to seeing what others did so that, when I finally do have the time to design it, I’ll have lots of options to steal from, LOL!

I’m going to *try* and do them more regularly again. But it’s going to depend on reader participation honestly..if lots of people participate then i don’t mind spending the time to do it. But if we only get a few it’s hard to justify pulling the time away from event posts etcs.
As Sandra said, its kinda hard to “participate” when a showoff is pullled out of a hat, when we didn’t get to do one for the past 2-3 events, kinda hard to prepare for one
Keep in mind there really is never any “deadline” to share and participate though. Just like Open Thread, continue the discussion and sharing. That is what the comments are for, an extension. You can add to it at anytime. Share away. 🙂
Oh yeah, I know, but like, if I was to post one today, it has better chance being looked at in a fresh blog, rather than one that was done weeks/months ago. Myself I’m currently working on a project so don’t have time to design my town, much less tap regularly, and bug the three of you on here daily 😀

No prob. I always go digging through the Heights inventory when I need filler buildings. Nice to sometimes get a use out of all that upgrade grind.

Awwww man, I have no idea what to do with the space stuff!! It’s all just sitting in a corner. Now if we were doing a Halloween/Christmas showcase I have areas for that, but I just can’t find any inspiration for the space stuff. I’ll try to come up with something before the 4th…
