Casino Event 101: Crafting

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Ah another event in our pocket sized Springfields.  Another event, another round of crafting.  Love it or hate it crafting doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

The Casino event brought a whole new aspect to crafting…leveling up for crafting.  I know you guys have tons of questions on it, so i’ll just get right into the long awaited (and much requested) crafting post….

2016-02-24 03.01.17

Once you’ve completed The Old Man and the ‘Sino Pt. 7 you’ll start to unlock crafting.

You first must do the task for Willie…Craft Plunk…Willie will trigger it.  Once that’s complete you’ll unlock the Guide etc…

So let’s start with a quick crafting overview…

This event crafting is different than it has been in the past.  Instead of Acts unlocking more crafting items, and you being able to craft as much as you want (unless it was unique)…the Casino event is much different.  The items you can craft cost less than your typical event crafting items, easily obtainable.  BUT…in order to unlock everything you must level up your crafting.  Leveling up unlocks more items to craft and it also unlocks the ability to craft more of items.  Confused?  Let’s break it all down…

How Do I Unlock Crafting?

Crafting unlocks after you’ve completed Craft Plunk (Willie starts it).  Craft Plunk triggers after you’ve completed The Old Man and the ‘Sino Pt. 7.

Where Do I Find the Crafting Menu?

Once you’ve unlocked the ability to craft, you can access the crafting menu at any time by clicking on the crafting icon:

ico_mhub_casino_crafting

You’ll find this icon either in the top right corner of your main Springfield screen or in the event hub.  Remember you can access the event hub by clicking on the trophy in the bottom right…ico_mhub_casino_prizetrack

What Do I Need To Craft?

This event has 5 different types of Crafting Currency.  The currency unlocks at different levels.  Here’s the quick breakdown:

ico_casino_keychain_lg Keychain.  Unlocked at Level 1 Crafting.
ico_casino_coaster_lg.rgb Coaster. Unlocked at Level 1 Crafting.
ico_casino_courtesychip_lg Courtesy Chip.  Unlocked at Level 1 Crafting (can ONLY be obtained, as of Act 1, by losing at Gaming Moe’s. Also, can only be used to “Craft” 100 chips)
ico_casino_martini_lg Martini.  Unlocked at Level 2 Crafting.
ico_casino_showticket_lg Show Ticket.  Unlocked at Level 3 Crafting.

How Do I Earn Crafting Currency?

Currently you can earn crafting currency 3 different ways….

1) By tapping Gamblers.  Gamblers will occasionally popup crafting currency in addition to the prize currency (Red Chips)
gambler01_tap_image_5
2) By playing the slots at Gaming Moe’s.  When you win or lose at Gaming Moe’s you’ll have a chance to earn some additional Crafting Currency…in addition to the prize currency (Red Chips)
Tapped_Out_Gaming_Moe's
3) Via the prize track at the Players Club.  Increasing your Players Club level will help you unlock more crafting currency.  Check out this post for complete details.

Ok, So I Get All of That.  What I Really Don’t Understand Is This Level Business.  What’s that?

Crafting levels is something entirely new for this event.  You’ll see your level meter across the top of the crafting menu:

2016-02-27 00.54.57

There are 3 total crafting levels associated with the casino event. At each level you’ll unlock more content to craft AND increase the number of items you can craft from the previous level.

Ok.  So It Sounds Like Leveling Up is Important.  How do I level up?  Is it the same as the Players Club?

ico_priz_casino_upgrade_lg

Leveling up crafting is COMPLETELY different than the Players Club.  One will not increase the other.

To level up in crafting you need to collect crafting currency and spend it on upgrades.  Right now there are only two currencies that you can collect to upgrade…

ico_casino_keychain_lg Keychains.  Collect 50 Keychains to upgrade 1 space.

ico_casino_coaster_lg.rgb Coasters.  Collect 40 Coasters to upgrade 1 space.

To reach a new level you’ll need to upgrade 10 times.  Which means you’ll need to collect 500 Keychains or 400 Coasters, or a combination of both…to move up 1 level.

Once you have enough currency to upgrade, simply find the upgrade item in the crafting menu and “Get Now”:

2016-02-26 20.52.22

Again you’ll need 40 Coasters OR 50 Keychains to upgrade 1 space.  And you’ll need 10 total spaces to move up to a new level.

2016-02-26 20.52.31

OK.  So I get How To Upgrade A Level, But What Does it DO?

2016-02-26 21.10.48

When you upgrade to a new level (ie go from level 1 to level 2…fill the bar completely)  you’ll unlock new prizes to craft AND you’ll increase your ability to craft more of the prizes from the previous level.

For example…at Level 1 you can only craft 4 Walk of Fame Stars.  Once you’ve crafted those 4 you can’t craft anymore…unless you upgrade to level 2.  At level two you’ll be able to craft 4 more.  So 8 total.  BUT when you get to level 3 the cap is lifted completely.  (This doesn’t apply to unique items…like the Safari Casino)

Wait, There Are Caps On How Many Items We Can Craft?

Yes.  There are caps at each level and then when you reach level 3 (the max level) the caps are lifted completely.  To see the caps look at your crafting screen, it will tell you how many items you can craft at your current level..

2016-02-27 00.56.25

See, at Level 1 you can craft 4 Walk of Fame Stars.  (I’ve already crafted 3..which is why it says 3/4)

But It Says First ____ Award Club Card Points.  Why Can’t I Get All ___?

2016-02-27 00.56.25 2

The example above shows that the first 8 Stars award 50 club card points each.  BUT that doesn’t mean you can craft all 8 at once.  It’s just telling you the limitation on how many club card points you’ll earn.  Once you reach level 2 you’ll unlock the ability to craft all 8. (And again, once you reach level 3 you can craft as many as you like)

Ok So Should I Upgrade Or Craft?

ico_priz_casino_upgradecoasters_md

Ah the million dollar question.  So the nice thing about crafting with this update is that, unlike previous events, nothing is crazy expensive.  Not one item costs more than 80 of of one type of currency…so you should be able to craft anything you want fairly easily.

The downside is leveling up in crafting is expensive!  You’ll need 500 Keychains or 400 Coasters…or some combination of the 2, to move up to a new level.

The good news is you have the ENTIRE event to craft.  So the first thing to do is NOT PANIC!  I strongly recommend hoarding your currency to upgrade.   Level up completely and then concentrate on earning the currency to get the items you want.

So there you have it, the complete breakdown on crafting!

Now I know I usually break down each item in the crafting posts…letting you guys know what it does, how it impacts your game, etc.  However, this time around I decided to do that in another post.  (I’ve still got to upgrade all the levels myself)  Right now it was more important to get you guys the info about levels and if you should upgrade or craft.  (Upgrade!)

What are your thoughts on crafting?  How about how crafting is setup this time around?  Thoughts on leveling up?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I agree this is soooo tedious. I’ve been checking out this website for a while but this is first post. I’m on LV59 and have been playing daily and am only on #5 of the Players Club. I’m also amazed that my neighbor had 84k chips and I only have 42k. There has to be a cheat going on somewhere!

  2. Is anyone else having a problem getting the notches in their crafting level meter going up after upgrades? First I spent the 40 coasters to upgrade tiers, then I got two of the upgrade cards after getting 2 of the 5 casino chip prizes, but my meter’s still stuck on the first notch! Is it just me? I really don’t want to have to contact EA but…should I?

    • The players club card points are not the same as leveling up crafting. The only way to upgrade crafting along the 10 notches to reach level 2 (and then again to reach level 3) is to spend either 40 coasters or 50 keychains to get 1 notch each. The players club points are a completely separate prize track.

  3. So do I understand this right? I will only get new items to craft by upgrading a tier 10 times? I can’t wait until the new acts release to get the new item?

  4. Thanks for the explanation. Leveling up on crafting very different from previous events. Yes, some of the crafting is tedious. Puts the “tapping” back in TSTO …

  5. Why my neighbor have more than 70k and I have only 30k, I don’t get it. Maybe bonus percent in money and exp affects in domino cash? I have almost 30%…

  6. Now we are are a bit into the event I assume you may get the golden tower or at least close to it by just getting the act prices from the chips. That would leave “only” black tower to be crafted completely via the item crafting.

Of course this is just speculation until we see the final numbers but it should be doable.

Okay, so I grabbed everything on level 1, now collecting coasters and keychains to level up is tedious. I know it’s only been a few days but it’s not really fun. Posting this isn’t resolving anything but venting to strangers helps a little bit. xD

    • Yeah…looks like it will take a couple more weeks to hit lvl 2…without crafting anything (which is making player’s club progress super slow)…lvl 3, at this point doesn’t even seem like it will possible.

  8. Gotta be the worst event since recycling… So tedious.. And really not that fun to be honest.. I hate casinos X(

But I’m just confused by this.. Like I don’t wanna craft useless stuff.. I want buildings chars and costumes.. Not 5 star squares just to get my VIP lvl up just so I can craft more useless crap to more tedious upgrades.. I don’t even know if I can finish this event! It’s so convoluted!

Makes me wanna STOP PLAYING! This game used to be fun.. But South Park was right about you ‘freemium’ companies.. Just deliberately make the game just annoying and barely fun to trick us.. But you are ruining your fan base.. If your reading this Mr. Ea … Then please.. Help us out.. Throw us a freaking bone! I want this game to be fun again :'(

    Makes me a sad panda..

  9. I just don’t like this collect to unlock crafting levels. I mean, I crafted a fountain and star before realizing how the levels worked and now I have collected just enough keychains and coasters to unlock two bars towards level 2. How I will get enough to get the levels AND the items is beyond me. I only get a couple from tapping gamblers, some from the casino and a handful from Moe’s. Like maybe 10-15 daily. I don’t think I’ll be able to craft anything – I spend all my resources unlocking portions of levels. Who thought this was a great idea?

  10. What items do we get when we get Cletus Dice and the Homer Card Game? I was thinking Martinis and Tickets came there. Not true?

  11. I used 50 keychains to start the crafting upgrade, now I can no longer craft level 1 items. Is it supposed to do that? I still wanted a few more fountains which doesn’t use keychains. I had hard closed 3 times, and no change.

    • You can craft level 1 items. You just spend your 50 keychains so it’s probably showing that you need more keychains to craft the items. Unless you see them disappear…or the fill in is completely gone they’re still craftable.

  12. Venting here:

I got lots of courtesy chips yesterday. And now today my daily challenge is 5 courtesy chips. Haven’t gotten one yet. All I do is win. Ugh so hard being a winner

  13. Thanks for the info. Great breakdown

  14. Thanks for the info.

  15. Hi all:
Quick question: Do you know if we will still be able to have coasters and key chains generate in acts 2 and 3? There are some items I want that require them but I have been churning my currency into leveling up and am wondering if I should horde what I need to craft then start leveling up again. Suggestions? Always great info. Hope you mid atlantic folks are enjoying this mild weather before it starts snowing later this week.

This is what I’m noticing with upgrading. There are 3 levels. I’ve already made one or more of everything available. I just got halfway to level 2 and we are only about half way into the first act so that’s basically a level an act. The only difference is they’re letting us get a glimpse at what to plan for. No you’re not supposed to have it all in three days. But it helps you decide what you want. Remember Sideshow Bob crafting? If they had done it this way people could be like ‘oh wow I want a hundred billion cactus patches’ and could have geared up to using their crafting currency for that. They’re giving us a window to peer through not a reason to freak out that you’ve been playing for four whole days of a month+ long even and haven’t finished it yet.

  17. Was a bit confusing on having the green line but no craft now notice. Thanks for making this page.

  18. It seems to me that the club points limits and the level 2 crafting limits are the same so why is there such a rush to level up? I feel the main goal is to complete the club prizes as fast as possible, so unless there are some unique extremely high club payouts that I don’t know about in level 3, I feel that maxing out all the crafting before leveling is the way to go. Besides the crafting materials earned from the club make leveling a little easier and I want them as soon as possible. I am not trying to be argumentative, but I would love to hear your reasons you feel the opposite.

  19. I have three bars so far in level one crafting, so I’m clearly not getting one bar a day. Crafting supplies are trickling in at Moe’s, but not enough to get me up to level two or three fast enough to craft any of the desirable items by the end of the event.

This would be a lot more fun if we accumulated XP by crafting items, not either/or.

    • That’s what I feel also. I was able to purchase 2 bars 2 days ago and haven’t gotten enough since to buy anymore and I play through out the day. I just do not understand how people are getting so much more. Even with RNG, the fact I am half a day behind now for chip totals…it doesn’t add up 🙁

  20. Oh man, I wish I had read this before crafting. I crafted every item I could, THEN started wondering how I get it to level 2. Lesson learned, always check here before I start! ☺️

  21. I agree with momanmin…you guys pretty much always rock. I try to use your site with each event to be sure I’m tappin’ efficiently.
And this time I thought I made a mistake, by spending resources on an “upgrade tier” before checking your site. This time I’m still uncertain though. Let me explain. See, if I’m nervous about getting all Act1 prizes, my priority should be chips, yes? So, regarding the keychain and coaster resources, here’s my thinking:

    1. Spend on upgrade tiers – get no club card points, but eventually upgrade and get more possible craftables and higher craftable limits (this is your suggestion).
    2. Spend on craftables – get no progress towards upgrades, work through Burns’ Casino Players Club prizes. The prizes don’t seem huge, but they include tokens, resources, and the Bronze/Silver/Gold Club Tower.

So it seems like the second option helps me more with getting tokens i.e. getting through the Acts a little more quickly. I was curious about your thoughts?

    • What I did was craft the stars and fountains and now I’m just hoarding the items until Act II drops. It’s ultimately up to you but if you feel like you need the players club items to get the chip prizes, then go that way. Not sure that there’s a right or wrong answer.

  22. Is there an Easter egg in this event? I haven’t picked up on one yet.

  23. Hi Alissa,

I apologize if you’ve answered this question already. I just received the 30 keychains by obtaining the required number of Players Club points, but I can’t seem to find the keychains in my inventory. Where did they go?

    Thanks!

    • When you go to the crafting menu, you should see them displayed at the top of the screen. They won’t go to your inventory… they’re just a sort of currency for crafting.

  24. I just had to comment on this here. I work at a casino and everytime I see the “first class perks for first class losers”, I think about all the money people lose and how we have giveaways like suitcases, coffee makers, umbrellas, etc. for them. Small trinkets to keep you gambling just enough lol.

  25. I can’t imagine many people have gotten to crafting the Spruce Moose, but if anyone has, I’d like to know if it can be placed in the ocean.

    • I just tried and no, it wouldn’t let me put spruce moose in the water.

      • Thanks very much!
I won’t prioritize it if I can’t put it on the ocean where it belongs. Disappointing, but more of other stuff, I suppose.

  26. I’m finding this event very confusing.

  27. Does any one know if the sequence fountains #2, #3 and #4 are upgrades to existing sequence fountains #1 or are they all separate fountains?

  28. Hey Alyssa or Bunny. Quick question… My daily challenge is aquire a courtesy chip… How do I do that? Please help. Thanks.

  29. Hi Alissa, for some reason when I crafted the cycling spotlight the light wouldn’t turn on. I tried tapping it but nothing. I’ve also seen them on In one of my friends Springfields so is it like a glitch or something?

    • Sounds like it could be. Try hard closing and restarting..

      • Is hard closing like force stopping it? Because I force stopped it, cleared the cache, and I put the light and the inventory and it still wouldn’t turn on

    • Miranda aka Lissa53

I had to move mine away from all buildings, turn it on, and then place it. Maybe that’ll work for you too!

    • Try moving the spotlight and placing it then tapping it again to see if it lights up. Maybe try putting it in your inventory then placing it again to see if that helps if suggestion one doesn’t work.

  30. Not sure if I’ve posted on this thread yet, but you guys are totally rockin it this event!!!
