It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread! So, let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.
So…here is your Open Thread. The Simpsons are all new tonight, what do you think will happen in the new episode? How do you think the episode tie-in items will come into play?
Casino Act 2 started last week, how are you doing on the prize track? Friday the chip payouts from tapping gamblers increased from 10 chips/tap to 20 chips/tap, are you enjoying the increase?
How’s your Casino designing coming along? Having fun with figuring out where to put all these casino inspired items? Building your own Vegas Strip? Have you checked out our community design post?

Many buildings only animate when a particular character is doing a particular task. For instance, the Safari casino only animates when Kent Brockman is doing Fluff News. Does anyone know of a master list that shows for all building which character/task combos trigger the animations? I’ve found scattered references all over the place, but not a single unified list.

Sorry – thought that screen capture made it clear that ellieg posted it as a comment in one of the Addict Open Thread posts. I haven’t seen it posted as a formal part of any posts here, though I think others have also posted a list like this in the comments on a few different threads.
I agree it would be nice to have this captured somewhere more “formal.” (But I also understand that our dear Addicts have limited time to write about a ton of stuff that goes on in this silly little game!)
Yeah, I could see it was posted as a comment, I just wondered where the info came from originally, and then I saw it was “only” for the Casino event animations. There’ve gotta be others, right? Likes Burns Manor, Volcano, etc….????

Seriously, dude? First off, this site isn’t run by EA, so, even if what I was about to tell you wasn’t true, there’s not point shouting and cursing at folks here.
However, if you take a deep breath and tap on one of those “offending” houses, you’ll see that you have the option to change the facade back to the non-holiday version. If you have the plunger from Christmas 2014 and you take it out of storage (if it’s in storage), you can turn off and on all of the holiday house lights with one tap.
There – don’t you feel just a wee bit silly for having made such a fuss? I hope this caught you before you went ahead with your plan to “copy/paste it in a bunch of places.”

When the event(s) finish maybe the landing spot will go back to the tunnel entrance, with that in mind I thought it was time to finish my Monorail in that part of town. This station is near the sea, Squidport, Heights tunnel, and in a park, so I’ve used heights accessories to make an oceanarium/park themed station.
Neighbours/tourists are reminded that it’s just a 2 train service for the weekend, 🚝 🙂

So my comment below brings up an interesting question. For me, given current exchange rates, buying a Boatload of donuts (2400 of them) would cost R1999,99 (South African Rands) or 71.43 Big Macs (@ R28 a burger)!
So my question is: using a version of the Big Mac Index (but using just the Big Mac NOT the Big Mac Meal), how many Big Macs could you buy in your own country/currency for the price of a Boatload of donuts?
USA (Dollars):🔹
Boatload costs $99.99 Big Mac costs $4.80 so 20,83 Big Macs…
UK (Pounds):🔹
Boatload costs £69.99. Big Mac costs £2.89 so 24,22 Big Macs…
South Africa (Rands):🔹
Boatload costs R1999,99. Big Mac costs R28,00 so 70,43 Big Macs…
(🔹 Please note that prices for both donuts and Big Macs above are from Google so would need to be confirmed – even for South Africa as my nearest McDonalds is 130km away…)
If I interpret my own question/answer correctly, it means that donuts, relatively speaking, are cheapest for those in the USA, only a little more expensive for those in the UK and much more expensive for those in South Africa…
So let’s hear from addicts around the world…?

I think you confused your boatload with a truckload unless there’s a special offer, or your currency suddenly became worth anything

Afraid I have to point out a possible flaw in your equations, …..
I think you’re trying to compare apples with oranges, as I don’t believe the Big-Mac product would have the same net weight in all 3 countries. I’m sure the U.S. Big-Mac is larger than our U.K. Big-Mac.
Maybe a gallon/5litres of gas/petrol would give a different result.

I’m sure doing it with gas/petrol etc would give different results but would that be due to some countries producing their own oil/petrol whereas others must import all they use?
The Economist magazine chose the the Big Mac (not me) because the Big Mac is the same in every country in which it is sold even though there may be a slight variation in some ingredients.
They convert the price in different countries into US Dollars as a way of comparing purchasing price parity of different currencies but that was too much Maths for my tiny little brain! According to Statista.com, in January 2016 a Big Mac meal cost $4.93 in the USA, $3.71 in the Netherlands, $1.77 in South Africa, $6.44 In Switzerland, $3.74 in Australia etc.
So while this means that it is cheaper for US citizens to visit South Africa than Switzerland, I felt we should look at somethng much more important (and less complicated) to addicts…

In India they’re mostly Hindu so they don’t eat beef, so the
“Maharaja Mac” is on their menu for about 175 rupees, but I don’t know what their boatload of donuts costs, hope this helps with your research Mike

I was going to say something about India and I was wondering about that, so thanks for sharing, Lee!
So I find myself in a quandary… I currently have 178 donuts and no matter how I try to s-t-r-e-t-c-h them there are limits to what I can get…
What I would like:
Springfield Falls – 90 donuts (as freemium I usually don’t spend donuts on decorations but its sooooooo pretty!);
Peacock lounge – 80 donuts (fits so nicely with Vegas stuff…);
Blarney castle – 115 donuts (it’s pretty and since I’m 1/4 Irish I should have it…);
La Belle Frottage – 185 donuts (looks so good in neighbours towns…).
That would take 470 donuts and even though I have walked on water (when pulled behind a speedboat going really fast) it still leaves me 292 donuts short… And that’s excluding whatever is coming that Alissa is not telling us about (quite rightly so too) but could be a Must Have! 😄
So a Truckload of donuts would do it but then I would have to acknowledge that I have left freemium status for ever even if I haven’t fully crossed over to premium status… Currently becoming fully premium is not an option for me but there is a possibility that this may change in the very near future – in which case no hesitation! And I wouldn’t just get a truckload, I would get a boatload or 3!!!
But until that happens what’s a boy to do…*sigh* 😄😄😄
