In-Game Update: Those Hunky Springfield Firemen

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Mughsernjkgu…forgive me while I try to talk with my mouth full…EA always has a knack for dropping updates when I’m eating lunch (and for Lee and HH…Turkey Sandwich)…

Anyway…EA’s dropped a long rumored (heck I wrote about it back in 2013!) Fire Station update!

I’ll be back with more in a bit…for now know that Ned starts things off with a 6s task for him and 4 other Springfielders…

At which point you’ll unlock the event itself…

And this is just like Deep Space Homer and Valentine’s Day.  Complete tasks to unlock prizes…

Now that I’ve finished my lunch…more details below the fold..

As mentioned above, once you complete We Didn’t Start the Fire Pt. 1 (a series of 6s tasks) you’ll unlock the fire event and items in the store…

Important to remember this ends April 14th, 2016. So collect all of the prizes/items you want BEFORE April 14th, or you’ll miss out!

This will run just like Deep Space Homer & Valentine’s Day, where you will need to complete tasks to unlock the prizes.  I’ll cover each and every task in the Turbo Tappin’ Post…for now..here’s enough to get you started and unlock Fire Chief Moe:

We Didn’t Start the Fire Pt. 2
Make Men Volunteer for Fire Department- x4.  6s.

We Didn’t Start the Fire Pt. 3
Make Firemen Fight the Kwik-E-Mart Fire- 3hrs.
Collect Gold Medals- x300

Ok so now let’s talk about some basics…

First the new stuff in the store.  Only a couple of new items, everything else is returning.

New Stuff:

Fireman Homer and Fireman Apu- 100 Donuts.  2 skins.  These costumes will help produce medals, BUT you do not need to purchase them to complete all of the prizes.  They’ll just help you get there faster, plus they look cool.  Yes, I’ll be doing a Should I Buy on them…

Vehicle Pileup- 75 Donuts. Earns 100 Medals and 35xp/3hrs.  Also requires that you be on Level 20 or higher to purchase.

Fire Hydrants- 10 donuts.  Will unlock the ability to buy them after you’ve unlocked Fireman Skinner. Earn 0.50% bonus on all cash and XP

Returning Stuff:

Burning Bush- 20 Donuts.  This isn’t new, this isn’t limited time…it’s just the same deco in a new spot.  And personally…don’t buy it.

Box of Fireworks- 60 Donuts.  Earns 2.25% bonus on all cash and XP Should I Buy

Pinwheel Firework- 40 donuts. Earns 2% bonus on all cash and XP

Now onto the prizes…

Fundraise- Animated task for Moe, Earned via We Didn’t Start the Fire Pt. 3

Firetruck- Decoration, Earned via We Didn’t Start the Fire Pt. 4

Fireman Skinner- Skin for Skinner, Earned via We Didn’t Star the Fire Pt. 5

Save a Cat- Animated task for Moe, Earned via We Didn’t Start the Fire Pt. 6

Wash Fire Truck- Animated task for Skinner, Earned via We Didn’t Start the Fire Pt. 7

Fire Hydrant- Decoration, Earned Via We Didn’t Start the Fire Pt. 8 (Unlocking this prize will award you TWO Fire Hydrants)

Fire Station- Building, Earned Via We Didn’t Start the Fire Pt. 9

Fires

There are fires all around Springfield, which you’ll unlock once you’ve unlocked Fire Chief Moe.

Simply tap on the fire when you see it to earn more Medals!

Neighbor Actions/Matches

You’ll notice when you visit your neighbors you’ll see a Match over some of their buildings.

If you tap on the match you’ll start a fire and earn Medal.  You’ll earn 1 Medal for every match you tap.

Not every building has the ability to set on Fire.  So don’t freak out if you don’t see matches…it just means that building can’t be set on Fire. 

So what happens on the neighbor side of things?  Is this good or bad for them?  Well, you did just set their building on fire…that’s never really a good thing.  However, in this case it gives your neighbor the ability to put out the fire (by tapping on it) and earns them 1 medal!

So in this case…it’s a good thing.

Earning Medals

So here’s a quick rundown of how you can earn Medals:

-Character Tasks, as outlined via the part of the Questline.  For example, Part 3 has a task for Moe.  Completing that task will earn you Medals.
-Clearing fires in your Springfield.  Random fires that are set will earn you 10 Medals.  Fires set by your neighbors, on buildings, 1 Medal.
-Setting fires in neighbor’s towns will earn you 1 Medal each.

And that’s really it, for now, to this Crook and Ladder update!  Something fun and easy, that everyone should be able to achieve, to keep us busy tapping for two weeks.
