Well the Crook and Ladder Event just dropped. It’s about time Springfield got a Fire Department! Time to bust out the fire hose and stock up on those donuts for all those brand new fire themed premium items in our stores.Now I know you may be trying to decide if these are worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it! We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add Fireman Homer and Fireman Apu to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding these calendar pinups to your Springfield…
Costume/Skin: Fireman Apu and Fireman Homer
Donut Price: 100 Donuts
Leaves stores April 14th
Pros
-Two skins that both earn at at a premium rate.
-Each character comes with his own questline, so two new questlines
-Hilarious outdoor tasks for each
-Each fireman will earn double medals when doing tasks, so you’ll unlock the prizes faster
Cons
-There already are a million skins for Homer, many of which are premium
-Pricey for costumes for existing characters
-Does not come with a building or decoration
Final Thought:
Premium
Go for it. You know you’re thinking about getting them anyway, so why not just pick them up? The earlier you grab them the more helpful they’ll be for you during the event. It’s not a bad price for two premium skins, and you know it’s going to drive you crazy if you don’t complete the Fire Character Collection…
Freemium
This one is a freemium tossup in my opinion. There’s no great value long term for adding these two to your Springfield. They will help a tremendous amount during this event, but you’ll be able to unlock everything without their help as long as you play diligently. So personally, unless you’re hell bent on getting these two..I would pass. Save those bonuts for something better. Because let’s be honest, how often are you going to use Fireman Homer or Fireman Apu once this event is over?
Of course in the end it’s up to you. We can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do. And personally I can tell you I’m 99.9% sure I’ll be picking these two up…I’ll make my final decision by tonight. Whatever you decide just remember to make your choice before April 14th when they’ll leave our stores forever…also with these two it’s better to make a decision early so they can be the most beneficial to you. 🙂

every time i tap on the firehouse “put out fires” tasks, i’ll see a couple of them listed, but when i tap on the task (from the firestation buttons) it always disappears and i am unable to pick those “tasks”. how do i get these tasks to start?
You have to have the firemen free
So I just noticed today that my Apu skin is not paying out at a premium rate. I’m only getting $70 from the 1hr task (And I’ll check the rest of the tasks in 1hr). Is there anything I can do about this?

Dang! That tipped me over the edge to getting them. Lol. Now I feel a little foolish not getting them until after I had already unlocked the firehouse, but it is what it is.
The Firemen r just to cute!! I’m glad I got them!!
What is with the Update that showed up today? I don’t see anything new, or am I missing something?

Stand alone characters seem so much better to me. I’ve got so many Homer skins. They’re so easy to forget about.
I’m so on the fence on this one. On the one hand, I’ve only been playing since just before the monorail event and don’t have a premium skin for Homer or Apu yet. One the other hand, I’m well on my way to finishing this event by either today or tomorrow at the latest, so I don’t really need the extra medal payouts.
Then again, I got a bunch of bonuts during the casino event…. And they would complete my fire department…. And (and!) I finally stopped being lazy and starting earning my rail yard bonuts….
I would if they were the “Pin Pals” surprised that besides Apu they haven’t offered more of these skins

Does this also apply to the freemium firefighters? Or can only the premium skins be able to do this outdoor visual task?

I bought the 2 skins because I liked them, am mainly a freemium player but have been saving the free donuts and also occasionally treat myself. I have a fire hydrant too.
Just picked them up. Should I do there quest line first or just start earning badges?
Urgh, I SO wish you could buy them separately. I’m not a fan of any of Apu’s tasks that I have (only the Pin Pal skin and his regular stuff, unfortunately), and I would probably put in the 50 donuts for the puppy task alone. But I have way too many Homer skins, not to mention joint tasks I barely ever get to… Is there any way Apu’s dalmation task is really worth 100 donuts? Because that’s pretty much all I’d be using it for. I have so many premium characters left to buy, but…. Doggies…….
P.S. How are you all getting so manybonuts per event? I keep seeing people say they got 200+ in any given event, and I play pretty obsessively, tap on friends, always spend the cash till I get the box with three donuts, and still only get one or two rounds per day for the last few days of any given act. Even twice a day for five days gets you 30, so 90 per event… How fast are you all managing to complete the questines? What am I missing? If I got 200 per event I’d have had that dalmatian since the moment it came out. :}
Well I guess a 15 day event and easter was 30 days or so you will get 15 donuts from Maggie 15 from raily ard 20 from daily tasks and maybe another 6 from completing the challenges and let’s be generous 10 fro visiting friends, I do think the more you visit the more donuts appear.
So 14 days 66 donuts double that for a 30 day event 132 would be my best estimate.
These are must buy in my view. As central to Springfield as the stonecutters but with outdoor tasks.
I’ve got 63 donuts in my beta free mind town so here I’m hoping the daily challenge and Maggie is good to me.

I never did get the Vegas Wives, but I got the firemen skins pretty much right away. It must seem ludicrous to get skins over characters, but I’m glad I saved my donuts and now have the full set of volunteer firefighters in my town 😀

Irritating that I pay doughnuts for these outfits to help earn event currency and they immediately want Apu to get tied up in a 24 quest that doesn’t award event currency.
You can wait to do the quest. Just put it on hold.
Usually, I at least read the ‘should I buy’ before jumping, but I knew I wanted these as soon as I saw them. Good thing I got lots of bonuts from the last event!
I was just looking at Fireman Apu & his hour long task…posing for a calendar (I think) was for $70….which is not premium rate. The other tasks were….hope they fix that. I use the 1 he task a lot…when I’m visiting neighbors & just hanging out in-game designing-boy I nuked it & just can’t seem to get it all worked out!! I hope EA corrects that AND really wish they’d fix Luann & Marge’s 3hr Narobic task at the top…throws me off during turbo tappin’…& I’m pretty sure I’m not the only 1 that’s irritated by that not going away.
They should’ve replaced homer and apu with bare-chested willie and shredded ned and did a quest like skinner washing the truck for the pose for calender quests in front of the station. It would’ve made more since, but oh well welcome to the collection.
With this update I was thinking that your Springfield is probably the most fire-safe town in history.

These are very tempting. But Im still rebuilding my donut account after the casino event. If I was over 100 I might’ve jumped on it, but I would have to buy a few more to get there.
