The Crook and Ladder mini event hit our Springfield’s last week and with it arrived a whole bunch (ok a few) of Fire Themed prizes for our Springfields!
This event is designed to follow a series of tasks via the questline to unlock prizes. For part two through 9 of We Didn’t Start the Fire you’ll have to earn 
via various character tasks in order to unlock the prize for that part. Two of the 8 prizes are Fire related decorations…the Truck and Hydrant
So let’s take a look at these fire fighting related prizes and just what happens when you unlock it them your Springfield.
Once you’ve completed We Didn’t Star the Fire Pt. 4 you’ll automatically be awarded the fire truck and you’ll see message pop right up:
And you’ll have the option to place or store it. Remember if you store it you’ll have to go into your inventory to retrieve it.
The fire truck is a bit lackluster…in that there are no sirens with it. It basically just sits there a looks pretty. Characters do have tasks there, although only 1 (Skinner) has a visual task there. (which is hilarious) But there’s not much else to it.
Here are some quick facts about the Fire Truck:
Size: 7×3
Conform-O-Meter Impact: Obedience +150
Characters Who Use It: Moe, Skinner (Visual) & Apu
And that’s it on the fire truck. Now onto those hydrants…
You’ll unlock the hydrants for free once you’ve completed We Didn’t Start the Fire Pt. 8..but you’ll unlock the ability to purchase them (for donuts) once you’ve unlocked Fireman Skinner…
But let’s start with the free ones…once you’ve completed We Didn’t Start the Fire Pt. 8 you’ll automatically unlock TWO Hydrants and see this message popup:
You don’t have an instant option to store them, you will see them to place in your town.
Like the truck, there isn’t much to the hydrants. No real animation…just a visual decoration for your town. Although it is something many of you have been requesting…
Here are some quick facts about the hydrants
Size: 1×1
Conform-O-Meter: Obedience +100
Bonus %: Each one adds 0.5% on all cash and XP (so 1% for two of them)
Donut Purchase Price: Can buy more than the two free ones for 10 donuts each. (I don’t recommend it unless you really love fire hydrants..two should be plenty 🙂 )
And that’s it on the hydrants!

The hydrants have an animation if u tap on them water bursts out of the top
I got four hydrants because the app decide to close on me when I got the pop up 🙂
Exact same thing happened to me…moot the pop up, had to hard close the app, and then got 4 hydrants! Wish you didn’t have to use donuts to buy them… They would be so pretty and help give the town that authentic finish along with the stop signs etc.
I bought 2 hydrants… Thought I’d like to be able to put them on street corners around town…I would’ve rather no % & for cash….I really wish they’d give us more stuff to buy for cash. Different fencing,,,& rope fencing for the casino area would be nice. They really need to give us more design pieces. Anyways….I also bought the pile up… I like it,,no regret on any of it.

Have any of you experience not having matches for your friends to lit fires? A few friends have stopped by and clicked on money but no fires?
My fire truck has noise not sure did it change?
I just watched a episode called “Stop Or My Dog Will Shoot” where Santa’s little Helper became a Police Dog. Since Santa’s Little Helper has tasks now they could offer a rebate deal with a Police Dog Skin for Santa’s Little Helper and add his costume to civil servants. I don’t know how They could fit it in a event though. There could be a police themed mini Event and he’s the premium Purchase, or For The Desert update, if it’s about the badlands from the episode “At Long Last Leave” He could be apart of the “Badlands Security” collection with some Security guards from the show. Do you guys think that that’s a good idea?

That’s not too many. Your Springfield will look more realistic than all of us who just have the two.
Go on then, why do you love them? Where have you placed them? Are they part of a larger design? Have you bought enough to place one on every street corner?

Not every street corner, no, but I had a few empty street corners where a stop sign always looked stupid and a fire hydrant looks great. There were also some places where fire safety just seems important. I tried to make do with just a few of them; bought three when they first became available, then got the two free ones and was pretty happy, and then yesterday I was going around my town and seeing places for them and… yeah, I bought a few more. I’ve bought very few of the premium trees and planters, like one or two of each, but for some reason the hydrants have been hard to resist.

I’ve realized I love Artie or would if they would re-code him (and Santa Homer And Queen Kodos) so when they fly it doesn’t Zap you away.

But yes I agree with the flying tasks. I never send Kodos on her 8hr task and kick myself when I do because there’s no way to cancel it since it’s attached to the Simpson house.

My fire truck does have a siren sound to it. Not sure if this changed from when I got the prize a few days ago.
And I agree on your advice on the hydrants. 10 Donuts is a bit much for such a small decoration. I’ll stick with the two free ones I got.
The free 1% bonus is nice but I would have rather had the hydrants available for cash and be able to buy an unlimited amount. Two hydrants is not enough for a full town and i am not interested in spending donuts just to have more.
Yeah, two isn’t exactly enough…. but when the rest cost donuts, it’s exactly enough. 😉 In reality, 1 in each block (whatever that is) might be nice.
Hopefully we’ll get those weird yellow Shelbyville hydrants as freemium one day…
I’m just sad that additional fire hydrants cost 10 sprinklies…..

But at least I’ll be the first to mention that there’s a cool whooshing sound associated with the animation. The valve nut pops off, too.
