Listen, the Android version of the app is having a lot of issues right now if you’re not on Marshmallow (Android 6 OS, the newest version). I’ve alerted the developer and they’re working on it. However, it’s taking longer than I’d like. And I know a lot of you are frustrated and angry about it. Including leaving bad reviews or sending emails accusing us of using the app to just show ads.
Let me be perfectly clear…that is NOT the intention of this app. In fact we (meaning the Addicts) most likely won’t even see a dime from the ad revenue of this app, at least not for quite a while. As the little incoming revenue from both versions goes to the developers to pay for app hosting and the development.
The goal with the Addicts App was to basically give you guys what you’ve been requesting…an app with easy access to the website. As well as notifications when new stuff hits. And the app works beautifully on iOS and on Android Marshmallow. But for those with anything else, it’s just not working properly, and for that I’m sorry.
Please know that it’s not our intention to provide you with a product that doesn’t work. And we’re working to fix the problem. I’ve told the developer to either fix the problem today or pull the app off of the Google Play Market until it can be fixed. I won’t have a product that doesn’t work using our name out there. It just doesn’t sit right with me.
Again, the iOS version works perfectly, so iOS users nothing changes with your version. And the Android version works as long as you’re on Marshmallow. On any other OS of Android it’ll just show you notifications, it will not load content.
So a good tip to fix it would be check to see if you can download the newest OS from Android, Marshmallow on your device. That will correct the problem if you can. I have Marshmallow on my Galaxy S6 and have no issues with the app.
So if you currently have the app downloaded and it’s not working, please know that we are aware. I am trying to get it resolved. I greatly apologize. And if it’s not fixed today the free app (Android version only) will be pulled from the market completely until they can work properly.
Also, I’m personally requesting that some of you please stop leaving negative reviews telling us that we suck in the app store or sending vicious emails about it. It’s an app that you’ve downloaded for free, to link to a website that you view for free (both of which have ads on them by the way, so if you don’t see them on the website it’s because you have an Ad blocker, which really in the end only hurts you. Because the less revenue the site generates the less money we have to put into the game and put into giveaways on the site. Which is why over the last year or so you may have noticed less and less giveaways. That’s because more and more of you have installed ad blockers. So yes the site is free, but those extra things we give you, and the money we put into the game..all that generates off of the ad revenue from the site). It’s really not worth some of you getting angry or nasty over. Honestly. It’s just not.
In the end, I’d like for this to work but really this Android version is causing me more aggravation and frustration than it’s worth. It really is. So if it comes down to it, we’ll just pull the plug on the Android App.

Hey … I love this site and was hoping to get some advice if possible. I just updated to Marshmallow on a Galaxy S and now TSTO is gigantic. Like the player view has zoomed into such a small area of town I can hardly see some of the theme areas that I’ve built. Anyone else have this issue updating from Lollipop to Marshmallow? What to do? Thanks

I found Samsung Game Tuner … so, to conserve battery in Marshmallow Google added a “feature” to reduce resolution and framerate in games. Defaults are 75% reduction. Game Tuner let’s you reset for each individual game so you can get 100% of original game resolution and fps. Available in Play Store… For anyone else seeing this behavior.

Sorry to hear that some people are behaving so badly towards all of you.
Cyber bullying (because that is what this is) is becoming more and more pervasive. When I hear stories like this I like to remember two sayings:
What do you expect from a pig but a grunt?
The people who hide behind online anonymity must lead very sorry little lives if they have to resort to this sort of behaviour to make themselves feel powerful…
and:
Some people’s punishment is just being themselves…
The way we treat others will come back to us. Whether you call it Karma, or Cause and Effect, or whatever, treat people badly and people will treat you in the same way. You may not see it happen to them or ever hear about it but there is balance in the universe. Trust it.
While it doesn’t necessarily stop their comments from hurting, maybe it helps you to let them go and to remember that those comments are more about them then about you. People who question your motives in this way tend to be the ones with questionable motives in their actions. You know the truth about who you are, how you live your life and what your intentions are in life and that is what counts. And those who follow this site know your intention is to help the community you have created because you love us and this game (in that order!).
Glad to see all the messages of support here. Focus on those and not the other crap!

Oh believe me I have thick skin…if I didn’t I wouldn’t have lasted this long on this site 😉 At the end of every day I get to go home to my husband and my daughter and really..that’s all i need. 🙂
But there’s just no need for the vulgarity over an app…it’s just not worth it. You wanna complain about it not working, complain. You want to spew hate and vulgarity over an app that doesn’t work…well I say there’s a special place right next to devil Flanders waiting for you… 😉

I personally DON’T recommend upgrading to Marshmallow (at least if using a Galaxy S6 Edge) unless you HAVEN’T used it on Lollipop (5), both design and functionality changed for worse. Also, it seems many developers haven’t updated their apps yet to work smoothly for 6.0 either, afterall, it has only been 6 months since release. Personally, KitKat or JellyBean (4.x) seemed to be the most stable.
Additionally, I am one of those people that don’t believe in playing favorites, so please, if you remove the app from Android, the same should be done for iOS until BOTH are stable. This is the biggest reason I will not support Apple or their exclusivity deals, it’s ok for a feature or two, but not an entire app!
Also, will this affect those of us who paid for the ad-free app?
On a side note: Firstly, I don’t understand why anyone complains about ads on this specific site, it’s ridiculous as they’re not intrusive or anything in any way, they just sit there with information eagerly waiting for you to click for more information. Everyone once in awhile you nay get a video ad that starts, byt you can easily cluck the little X in the corner to end it. Unlike other sites where they pop-up or redirect you, completely ruining your experience and pissing you off.
Secondly as an FYI, I personally would like to know about EVERY new post as I do tend to read a majority of them. Maybe send everthing and allow us to decide which category of notifications we want in the settings menu so you don’t have to decide 😉. I’m constantly checking to see if the comment count has changed because if it does I know one of you was recently on and their might be a new post or it’s just a comment push/clear out.
…and I echo the sentiment that at least I get notifications of your new content so I can stop checking the website obsessively.

Thank you for the post. I’m probably not going to be able to update my phone to the latest Android version, but since I can still access the website (no adblockers here; I’m not sophisticrated enough for that high falutin’ stuff) it’s no biggie.

Thank you so much for this app. Sorry I was bit late into downloading it so only got it few days ago. Really like the layout and the ability to search things easily. I realise you guys are facing some problems and all I can say is hang in there for us.
Not sure if this helps make you feel any better or not but here is one woman who gave the free android app a good review when it first came out, and did not change it when it broke. I’ve been reading this site long enough to know that you,Bunny and Wookie are good people who are not out to take advantage of people.
Preferably the app would work, but I still love notifications that I can access without having to go into my email to get. From my phone’s home screen it’s pretty simple to get to this site.
Still like the app for the notifications ☺☺☺

I never downloaded the app but then I’m old and lucky I can even play the most addictive game in the world. I say the heck with anyone complaining about free stuff not working perfectly. Bunch of spoiled whiny entitled babies. This site has helped me complete levels, add neighbors and generally make the game more enjoyable to play. Let’s see how all the whiners get thru the next time their game freezes or locks up if yinz don’t help them. In closing thank you Alissa Bunny and Wookie plus the additional contributors as well as the kind and friendly people who post on tsto addicts your help is greatly appreciated.
I am in the 99% of people that think this site is awesome (I haven’t seen the app but I’m sure it’s awesome too). Alissa and the gang put in a lot of time and hard work to give us all the information we need and more. Anyone who is being negative towards Alissa and co needs to go somewhere else and leave them alone.
I hate that the Internet has many people posting rude and negative comments behind a hidden identity.

Facing IOS issues. I sent my characters to the first task on the new event and when I went to check it, it was gone. Like I haven’t downloaded the new update.
well that’s not about the Addicts app lol
But try uninstalling and reinstalling TSTO see if that helps.
