Crook and Ladder Prize Guide: Springfield Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD)

Just a reminder the Fire Event ends tomorrow morning at 0800 GMT.  So finish up those prizes if you haven’t gotten them yet.  And buy those last minute fire related premiums before they’re gone from our stores!

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The Crook and Ladder mini event hit our Springfield’s last week and with it arrived a whole bunch (ok a few) of Fire Themed prizes for our Springfields!

This event is designed to follow a series of tasks via the questline to unlock prizes.  For parts two through 9 of We Didn’t Start the Fire you’ll have to earn crookandladder_medal_ via various character tasks in order to unlock the prize for that part.  The final of the 8 prizes is the coveted SVFD Station…

TSTO_Springfield_Fire_Department

So let’s take a look at this station and just what happens when you unlock it in your Springfield.

Once you’ve completed We Didn’t Star the Fire Pt. 9 you’ll automatically be awarded the fire station and you’ll see message pop right up:

2016-03-31 16.32.27

And you’ll have the option to place or store it.  Remember if you store it you’ll have to go into your inventory to retrieve it.

Note some of you are mentioning that when you store it, it goes missing from your inventory.  First, check your whole inventory list (not just the individual icons) to see if it’s in there.  If not, contact EA.

Once you’ve unlocked the Station everything else from the Crook and Ladder Event is removed, since you no longer need to earn medals.  And you’ll see this popup appear:

2016-03-31 16.32.41

And your questline will continue, this time focusing around Ralph.  You can view the next steps of the story line here. Ralph will have a task at the end that puts him in a “costume”, but this is not a new skin/costume for Ralph.  It’s only associated with that task.

Once you’ve finished the questline completely, the Station comes with the ability to start fires on various buildings in Springfield.  When you tap on the station you’ll see this:

2016-04-08 16.39.15

Followed by a list of buildings you can start fires on…

2016-04-08 16.39.21

Start the fire and you’ll bring fires back to Springfield…

2016-04-08 02.57.10

Your firemen will then fight the fire, so they won’t be able to do other tasks at that point, unless they’re already on a task.  Here I had Homer, Apu & Skinner free already so they’re all fighting the fire together..

  1. I’ve noticed that in my game Apu’s firefighter skins 1 hour task earns at the regular rate of $70. The premium rate for him begins with the 4 hour task. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

  2. SailorAlphaCentauri

While I don’t like having to have all 4 characters available to fight a fire, I do like the activity. I just wish they weren’t just 1, 12, & 24 hours.

  3. Wait, so if you’ve already sent everyone on tasks, you can still fight fires? 🙂
Is there just less of a reward?
Cos i wouldn’t want to tie up characters like Homer and Apu for 12 or 24 hours all the time!

  4. Really disappointed the Ralph dog costume is one to keep. Very deceiving. Used donuts to rush tasks. Its not just me is it?

    • Well we posted it in several places on this site that it’s not a costume for ralph like other skins. It’s just a task. That being said the task is still there if you go to ralph and select his Do tricks task.

  5. I wish you didn’t have to have to send ALL of the firefighters in order to use it. In order to put out a fire I have to send Moe and Skinner at regular pay despite having premium skins for both of them. Plus they are usually busy between recycling and Heights. There are some times where one is free and I’d use it, but never both. (I didn’t buy the skins for Homer and Apu, but if I had I don’t see how I’d ever use them due to the same issue.)

As I’ve said before I wish having a premium skin for a character made that character premium (regardless of active skin). Then we cold use different skins / things like the fire station without losing the increased earning potential we paid for by purchasing premium skins with donuts.

  6. So Burn It Down pt1 just started up for me again (asking me to start fires in other Springfields). I completed the event and won all the prizes a few days ago, and the related items have left my store. I visited other Springfield, of course there were no fires to start, came back to my town and the match icon is there in my task book. So that’s..weird.

    • Something similar happened to me during the casino event, and I lost a couple items that were limited time, so irreplaceable. I had to contact EA and revert to an earlier snapshot in order to get those things back.

Check your town and make sure nothing else went missing!

  7. Eight two banana

  8. Pretty sure you must have had Moe free for that snapshot as well. Contrary to what I said before, I don’t get the choice to fight fires unless both Moe and Skinner are free (although Homer and Apu can be busy). Which sucks because both are usually working at the dump, and when they’re not I have three premium tasks I can send Skinner on (two at the Observatory, one at the Buffet). I really wish I could send Homer and Apu to put out fires when the other two are busy.

  9. I didnt even finish the quest and it is completely gone from my options. What do I do.

  10. I wonder if there will be any comments now that say………

“Oh, I missed it! Why didn’t you tell me the event was ending Alyssia/Alicia? I wanted to buy the skins, (at the end of the event when they’re no use)….it’s all your fault!”

    You know it
    😃 😃 😃 😂 😁 😀 😉

    • I found it interesting that the store stuff disappeared an hour early (I was hoping it would be a sign that timings might be adjusted so the daily challenge would be 8am BST)

  11. Must have changed over at 08:00 BST rather than GMT, just popped into my game and the Fire event stuff has already left the store.

  12. Sorry, this is unrelated to the above topic, but this is driving me crazy! After the android marshmallow update my game is all zoomed in and huge! I can’t zoom out to get a broader picture of my Springfield. Is anyone else experiencing this? It’s really bugging me.

    • Don’t allow things to update, it is never good, but I’ll like your comment because you have a doggy avatar
      🐕 🐩 🐶 😃

  13. i also have the same issue as Rhesis90

  14. I really thought the desert event was going to start after the fire take down, but now with the rebate event I doubt it 🙁

  15. If you have the firehouse will the quest lines still be playable after event ends tonight? I haven’t completed part 11 yet

  16. Mmmm i have an issue with that building. I click on “Put out” in “Fight a fire” text, and it shows me Skinner, Moe, Homer and Apu (with their Firefighter skin) to choose them, only if they are doing another thing, if they are free, they don’t appear in the list. If all of them are free, when i click on “Put out”, it doesn’t show me nothing…

What can i do? Am I the only one with this awful issue? 🙁

    • When you do put out it’ll automatically pull them to fight the fire. There’s nothing else to select

    • I also have the same issue

    • I think you have to finish the questline first

    • barleecreations (canid88)

I am also having this issue. I didn’t notice until now because I’ve had everyone working on the rail yard. Tried: storing the building, logging in and out, and making sure that both Moe and Skiner where free at the same time. Still can’t make it work. 🙁

      • barleecreations (canid88)

OK, I’ve uninstalled reinstalled the game now it is working correctly. Yay! That is terrible that you need all characters free to use the firehouse.

  17. Ralphie’s job at the fire ststion is awesome 😅😁😀

  18. Love the Ralph task, not a fan of how you have to have so many characters available to fight fires esp on monorail days.

  19. Such a missed opportunity to add THAT Ralph task as a permanent task. Cracked me up!

  20. When this event started, my Maggie mini game stopped working. I hope it will recover after this event is over.

    • I’ve noticed the glitch too — and I believe it’s been mentioned by others on the website. I thought it was entirely broken at first, but I discovered that if I just wait about thirty to forty seconds or so past Maggie vanishing, the hide-and-seek game stutters to a start, and then proceeds normally after that. (It would royally suck to lose a donut earning task entirely!)

      • Hi yes. I noted if I wait long enough, the beeping count down will starts but then the game remains freezed for me.

        • Huh. Mine pauses for awhile, before doing the beep countdown on a frozen screen, and then several seconds later it does a fast-forward version of the video accompaniment, before returning to normal. (I’m on iOS/iPhone 6.)

          • Anyway I have logged a case with EA and also posted in their community page. But I think the log case does not accomplish anything as they sent me a useless email to ask if everything is OK when fault remains.

  21. Is there really any point to sending them to fight fires? It looks like it earns the same rate as sending them on other tasks, so there doesn’t appear to be any benefit. It’s just a new task at the regular rate for those characters.
