Where Did THAT Come From: Moe’s House

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. That is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?

So I know Bunny and Wookiee usually handle the WDTCF posts, but with Wookiee working on finals and some other stuff..and Bunny busy with work and her family, I thought I’d try my hand at a couple of these…any excuse to re-watch old Simpsons episodes 😉

This post I will be going over the Origin of Moe’s HouseWhy are they in our games? What do they have to do with Springfield? Doesn’t Moe live at the Bar?  Wait, I thought Moe had an apartment? Let’s dive into the Simpsons TV Series to find out more.

Lisa the Tree Hugger: Season 12, Episode 4

While there are examples earlier in the show where we catch glimpses of Moe’s house (mostly his porch, and we’ll cover them in a bit), this is the first example of where we see Moe’s whole house.

Bart needs a job to afford the new Game Station 256, instead of his crappy 252. He initially gets a job at Jake’s, but quits after crazy Jake tries to pay him in hair!  So he ends up as a menu boy at You Thai Now…

And of course the first house Bart visits is none other than…Moe’s house!

Wonder if we’ll be seeing Moe’s Pickup truck anytime soon?

Of course Moe, being Moe, wants no part of the menu on his door..and he threatens Bart with a box cutter…”No Menus or I’ll cut you like a box…”

Regarding Margie: Season 17, Episode 20

This is probably one of the direct show references EA used to create the house and bring in the animation and dialogue.  The episode starts off with Bart, Milhouse and Nelson waiting numbers on the curbs for people.  Because if you don’t ask them, they have to pay you for the work…

Moe is enamored with his house number painted on the curb.  It makes him feel like one of those rich guys.  And he stands back to admire it, he leans on his gun and it accidentally goes off into the ground…

Causing, what Moe thinks is, brown gold to come spurting out from the ground all over him…

Screenshot 2016-04-14 21.46.15

Of course he thinks he’s rich….but not so fast Moe..

In another full shot of Moe’s house, we learn from the DWP, that it’s not oil Moe.  Jenkem anyone?

A Star is Burns: Season 6, Episode 18

Now we’ll travel back in Simpsons history a bit…Season 6 is when we first see Moe’s House.  Well his front porch anyway.  See Bart sells Maps of the Stars Homes to tourists that come to Springfield…

Screenshot 2016-04-14 21.04.18

Of course, they’re not Maps to Stars homes, they’re maps to regular Springfielder’s Homes…so when the tourists come a knocking..

Screenshot 2016-04-14 21.06.38

They get Moe standing on his front porch in his underwear and think he’s Drew Barrymore…

Days of Wine & D’Oh: Season 11, Episode 18

Just an interesting factoid here…in Days of Wine & D’Oh we learn that Moe’s Address is 57 Walnut Street…

moeshouse2

But if you remember from earlier in this post, Season 17 showed Moe’s address as 555, not 57.

Screenshot 2016-04-14 21.46.10

So what could account for this?  Well there’s a lot of conflicting information about where Moe actually lives.  Some think he lives at the bar, with the rats.  Others think it’s in an apartment building.  Although we have proof that Moe has a house…there are instances where he lives in an apartment.

For example…Moe Baby Blues: Season 14, Episode 22

The cops swarm Moe’s Apartment building when they think he kidnapped Maggie..

Really he was just cooking a Ham.

So even the show’s writers offer conflicting information about where Moe lives.  Be it number 57, number 555, an apartment, the bar, or even his “brown gold” soaked house…it’s still fun to see where it all came from.  And of course it’s always fun to see contradicting information in the show..of course that’s too be expected when you have 27 seasons go look back on!

There you have it, a few times during the TV Series that Moe’s House has showed up along with the origin behind the animation (and dialogue) out front!

Did you remember these episodes?  Did you remember that Moe had a house?  Or did you think he lived in an apartment or the bar?  What do you make of the address discrepancies?  Did you purchase his house?  Where have you placed it?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

    Happy Saturday, Tappers 😃

  2. I bought the house straight away now I just need to make some room in my slums district for him alongside with nelson’s cletus’s and CBG’s apartment.

  3. This is very helpful! I was trying to find out where the origins of this was but couldn’t find anything! This is the only really useful website! Well done!!!!!!!

  4. I put mine next to Muntz house, like how it is in Hit & Run

  5. I promised myself I wouldn’t do this but…. “and threatens part with a box cutter” uhh…which part? 😀

  6. You just wanted to tell your husband that you “had” to watch that episode for research purposes. 😄

Thanks for the recap, I laughed at the quote “No menus or I’ll cut you like a box…” and now I got me a hankem for some jenkem! Don’t worry Alissa, I sent you some in the mail like you wanted. 😜

Although not actually shown in the show it is highly probable that Moe would have moved several times in the last 27 years. I could even see him temporarily living in the bar at times to avoid rent payments to his landlord (apartment building), squatting in various abandoned houses (57 Walnut and 555), etc.

  8. Thanks! I remembered the Map of the Stars one. So no mention of a house for six seasons. You can see why a person would be suspicious….

  9. Eek, Moe needs to keep his shirt on, or at least undershirt on (those hair patches are going to give me nightmares)

  10. Season 9, episode 9 sticks in my mind the most (first time I think we learned Moe’s last name) when Marge (wearing a red blazer) is on Moe’s porch [Frinkiac: Szyslack] (also funny “File Photo” of Moe coming out of another kind of house :p ) But I think the 555 address is clearly the model EA went with.

  11. a WHHHHAAAAAAAA????!! Alissa doing a WDTCF? I’m glad you included the WD W. and B. go :p

    I liked it anyway 🙂

  12. Y’all know if there’s anymore to the Spring Cleaning questline after you have Marge clean the house 5 times and you get the orange tree? Not seeing anything but I have most everyone on long jobs so the next part might not be triggering.
