Should I Spend Donuts On the Bandit Hideout?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

YeeHaw!  The Wild West has arrived in our pocket-sized Springfields!  With bandits to tie up, guns to sling, gold to pan & gold ole’ Homer getting everyone all riled up! So bust open the vaults and grab those donuts because there are loads of new Wild West themed premium items in our stores!

Of course it wouldn’t be an EA Event without Gil popping in with an event themed offer, and this time is no different!  And with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Bandit Hideout to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding Gil’s latest offer to your Old West Springfield…

banditfort_menu

Building/Decoration: Bandit Hideout

Leaves stores on May 4th…(May the 4th be with you..)

Pros
-Comes with a questline
-Adds a permanent 8hr task for Skinner, Martin, Database & Milhouse
-Generates additional Bandits, every 2hrs, in your town
-Animated when in use

Cons
-CRAZY expensive
-You already have several Bandit generating buildings..for free

Final Thought:
Premium:
Honestly, this is a premium pass for me.  It’s overpriced for what it is/does.  And I just don’t think it’s worth the 200 donuts.  That being said, I know there are those of you who will buy this no matter what, or you already have it in your town…but for the rest of you, pass.

Freemium:
Here’s where I say something that makes many of you smile…stay away.  Stay far, far away from this one.  Don’t look at it, don’t think about it, don’t smell it, don’t covet it in your neighbor’s town.  This is an INSANE buy for freemium players…200 donuts for something that’s huge and doesn’t come with a character.  No thank you.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do.  And I can tell you I’m passing on this one, sorry Gil!  Whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games on May 4th.

Here’s a look at the questline that comes with the Bandit Hideout:

The Three Compadres Pt. 1
Martin starts

Make Martin Make Introductions- 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp

The Three Compadres Pt. 2

The Three Compadres Pt. 3
Martin starts

Make Martin Reconnoiter- 12hrs, Earns $420, 100xp
Make Milhouse Reconnoiter- 12hrs, Earns $240, 100xp
Make Database Reconnoiter- 12hrs, Earns $240, 100xp

The Three Compadres Pt. 4

Make Vigilantes Assault the Bandit Fort-x3. 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp.  Can send Milhouse, Database, Skinner, Comic Book Guy & Sea Captain

And that’s it, the complete breakdown of the Bandit Hideout!

What are your thoughts on the Bandit Hideout?  Will you be picking it up?  Or did you already?    Where have you placed it in your town?  Or did you tell Ol’ GIl to take a hike (And come back when he’s got some discount donuts to offer)?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I just got it for free was hoping for shapes or the nerds oh well

  2. I bought the first also. I like the task the Trojan sombrero.

It doesn’t always have to have been in the show. Sometimes it just makes it look cool. If you want you can do what I did and make it into a western themed set piece.

  3. I bought it because I like big buildings. I think it looks great, it’s nice for Database to have something to do, and the Trojan Sombrero is cute. It was overpriced, but I like having it in my Old West area.

  4. It is cool looking, but I think I will pass on it. I don’t be-smudge anyone that buys it though.

I do be-smudge EA though for taking away tasks from Shredded Ned! What’s that all about? Those hedges need trimming and praying is going to cut it. Come on, EA!

  5. Another glitch – Shredded Ned’s animated tasks have gone missing, I only have 3 non-visual tasks for him in my game now.

  6. Maudlin Monarch.

I saw it on a couple of neighbor’s SFs. (They fall into the “buy no matter what” category.) It confirmed that it wasn’t worth even 1/2 the amount of doughnuts. The animation was sub-minimal… and I didn’t hear any music.

After reading this I am a bit ashamed to say that I bought this but in my defense it also reminded me of something out of the Red Dead Redemption game ( the Undead Nightmare edition, of course). I love the way it looks.

  8. I snagged it, no regrets. Looks great and fills out my desert area nicely.

  9. This is so cool looking, but too rich for my blood. I’ve learned my lesson after Truckasaurus. . .

    • I actually like the look of Truckasaurus in my town, just wish he actually crunched the car….

      • I bought him a long time ago before I knew about this site and the should you buy posts. I had just seen it on Pawn Stars and was all geeked to get it. I was really hoping that he’d rip the car in half and move around the town. I guess that I shouldn’t regret it–everyone needs at least one totally extravagant purchase in their town.

        • One? I’ve got a few that I regret, although still look cool in the town. I agree though, even if he didn’t rip apart cars, would have been cooler if he (is Truckasaurus a he?) was an NPC at least, roaming around town.

          • Truckasaurus is definitely a “he”….females don’t tend to be as into destruction as males. 😉

          • AT LEAST one. Hee! I’ll have another one if the castle they had when I got the twonicorn (unless I imagined said castle) comes up again. I can’t even remember how many donuts it was. And I shouldn’t have assumed Truckasaurus was male. I’m female and would love to rip a car in half some days!

    • I love my truckasaurus🙃

  10. Gil always seems to make these over-the-top special building offers that mostly gets a pass. From the big snowglobe to the tailgates, to a ginormous mars colony that eats up too much space. Gil needs to make at one, if not, a couple of decent special building offers that at least a good majority would accept his offer. Just my two cents.

    • I love the snowglobe, truckasaurus, ghost ship, and really wish I had gotten quicke mart headquarters. I had zero desire for tailgating or Mars colony. I gues it just depends what calls to you.

  11. Oh man, my game just trolled me hard: The option to buy Brandine just showed up in my Metal Depot, but nothing happened when I tapped on it, and she wasn’t in the store! It disappeared when I restarted the game.

Also, the Two-Story Outhouse is available, but there’s no bonus, just Vanity points. BOOOOURNS!!

On the plus side, they fixed “Where’s Maggie?” for the time being.

Level 59+. Don’t know why I’m still playing this game. All the makers are interested in is milking everyone of cash via donuts.

    • I’m surprised you feel that way…I think this game is actually pretty generous in allowing strictly freemium players to play completely successfully and even pick up a premium item from time to time. EA is a business and it costs a lot of money to make and run this game, so it’s hard to begrudge them wanting to make money back from it! From what I hear, this game is WAY more generous than the Family Guy one (and, I think, the new Disney one).

      • I wouldn’t say it’s more generous than the FG game, and, until recently, the opposite was actually true. It’s that with FG you *need* to use clams (premium currency) to earn all the “freemium” content.

      • I’ve played a lot of freemium games, and this one is by far the least greedy. Not to say they aren’t out to make money, because they are, but I played this for a couple years without *having* to spend money to level up, finish events, or make a nice little town. I spent money eventually because I really enjoyed the game, but a lot of games are way worse. They’ll require premium currency to unlock the next level or set of levels, or it will be literally impossible to unlock a “free” item without buying “free” crafting currencies with premium currency because the drop rate is so ludicrous, or you’ll have to buy power-ups to beat a level in supposed “puzzle” games. There’s just all kinds of stuff like that. And, admittedly, some of those games have gotten some money from me, but Tapped Out has gotten more than them because I find it genuinely enjoyable. Frustration is far less likely to make me want to keep spending money.

  13. it reminds me of Red Dead Redemption gang hideouts and i like it, but Springfield isnt actual wild west, but present day, so i have to use for it

  14. Hey…my 2 outside tasks for shredded ned r gone…60min and 4hr. Anyone else??😕 i know its the wrong place for me to mention it…sorry. Its just…everyone reads here!!!!

  15. Are the tasks animated or is just the building animated?
    Thanks

  16. I can’t get bonuts. Quest appeared than disappeared after I made 1500 clues donut boxes did not come up. Of course all this happened after I purchased the bandits hideout😕. No change even after after hard restart. There even was a update for iPhone in game still not fixed.

  17. “… don’t smell it, don’t covet it in your neighbor’s town.”

LOL. Maybe I’m missing the point or something, but strangely enough, seeing the premium items in other towns is one of the things that usually *reduces* my impulse buy urges… because frankly, they’re distinctly underwhelming more often than not.

  18. But it looks SO … DAMN… COOL. not but for real I’m freemium and was saving for camp krusty for a million year but this is just badass. It had really nice animations, really raises the appeal of the desert area ( dunno what’s coming in the other act but so far not to many building to fit in) and I don’t really feel like characters are what makes the town nice you have so many at a certain point anyways. I think this is the coolest looking building, for me, in this game. Loving my purchase. Now I can grind donuts for another year:)

  19. I know I regret getting it. If they had at least given it a 5% bonus it wouldn’t sting as much but a big goose egg for a 200 donut item? Dirty.

  20. Every time I buy one of these big, expensive, impractical Gil deals I regret it, yet I still buy at least half of them. Why? Well with the tailgate party it was because I have, like, four different stadiums/arenas and I thought it would go great with them (it was eventually stored to make room in my too crowded Springfield). With the Mars colony it was because I’m a big space/science nerd (it stayed out a couple weeks then went into storage). With this it was because I’m loving the wild west theme and wanted all the pieces I could get to fill my frontier area. But I almost immediately knew I was gonna regret it. And now, realizing how many items we are yet to get in the event and that space will be at a premium, that prophecy of buyer’s remorse has been actualized. I have no doubt it will end up in storage before the event even ends in order to make room for all the other stuff. I would love a limited time return option on donut purchases… I know, not likely.

    • I wish we could see them full size to help with decision making, but they don’t let us. Thank goodness for either seeing them in friends’ towns or fellow Tappers who post pics on here.

  21. I didn’t expect Gil until act two. My opinion, the Trojan Median hat is worth it

  22. Lol, “don’t smell it” 🙂 There’s definitely a whiff of con about it, as in chilli CON carne. 🙂

  23. I only need one word to answer that question – no.

  24. So I just got a crazy glitch that replayed a couple dozen old quests from the last year or so, gave me duplicates of a few old items (like a second space shuttle simulator, launching pad, etc.) And then put a bunch of act 2 and 3 items in my store and started a few upcoming questlines. I bought a bunch of these items and was able to build and unlock a couple more through the questlines. At first it seemed like a pretty sweet glitch, but now I’m realizing it may have ruined the rest of the event for me. The act 2 &3 prize tracks are showing, but they’re not available to earn, only to buy with donuts. I hope it doesn’t stay that way or I’m gonna miss out on most of the freemium prizes. Also, my bandits are now dropping guns and my counter is counting dynamite bundles. I guess I’ll have to wait and see if it fixes itself… On the other hand, I got a lot of cool stuff which I won’t describe to avoid spoilers.
Anybody else get this glitch? I did have a couple neighbors who had a bunch of unreleased stuff in their towns. I guess this explains it…

    • Well, I just checked back in with my game and everything’s back to normal: all old quests gone, unreleased items no longer in the store, counter back to clues, bandits releasing pickaxes and hats again, act 2 & 3 prize tracks rehidden, etc. But I got to keep the duplicates it gave me as well as everything I bought, built or earned. So it turned out to be a pretty sweet glitch after all.

    • Hello,

I have seen this glitch in my A game. After it cleared I couldn’t use the General Store, so I won’t get all the items from Act I. Didn’t keep up with bandit clearing for a few days as I was expecting EA to roll back my game to address the issue. Four days later they did some other fix… Oh well, last item of Act 1 is not a character I’m concerned with.

  25. I want to update the many tasks from shredded Ned is missing from my game. His tasks now only starts from 8 hrs. I wonder if this is the same for you.

  26. I would love to have the opportunity to buy this, but like many others it seems, this item has completely disappeared full stop. Nothing, nada , vanished without a trace 🙁

    • Check again now. That had happened to me, too (although, fortunately, I had no interest in buying it anyway), but, with today’s update, it’s back.

  27. I didn’t know tsto came with smellovision!
