Where Did THAT Come From – Gummy Joe

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?

Howdy and Yeehaw Cowboy and Cowgirleenos! How in tarnation are y’all doing? Liking the 2016 TSTO Wild West Event? It’s Act One in the darn-tootin’ new event and with every new imagining by the designers comes new items. This of course means the wild gang here at Addicts get’s to dive into the Best. Show. Ever. and find them like the outlaws they are. For this post, I checked out the wanted posters and decided to ride down the origins for Gummy Joe… the first Act One prize. Absolutely nothing wrong with free characters. But why did he show up in our games? What happened that brought him into Springfield? How does an old man with less teeth than my two-year-old fit in with the Wild West? Let’s check out the Best. Show. Ever., shall we?

“Last Exit to Springfield” (S4:E17)

McBain starts us off with swank and Mendoza aka one evil dude but Burns is even eviler. Homer becomes head of the union at the power plant, Lisa needs braces, and much more hilarity. Of course, all this  may leave you wondering how in the heck a man dressed like a prospector with only one tooth fits into the episode. Well hold your proverbial horses and tie them to the Bloodbath Gulch hitching post from a different episode, I’m getting to it.

Dental plan. Because of Ralph Wiggum I always think of the dentist office as a “house of lies.” Ok… maybe also because I don’t enjoy going to the dentist. Lisa really does need braces or she’ll be a hideous freak by age eighteen.

Lisa Simpson needs braces Dental Plan

Homer doesn’t have worries because he has a dental plan. Unfortunately, the union exchanges the plan for a free keg of beer. Anyone besides me often quote “Dental Plan Lisa Needs Braces” every chance they can. Homer defends the dental plan. It got Lenny the diamond in his tooth and Gummy Joe wouldn’t have “old chomper” without it.

Gummy Joe Simpsons

Gummy Joe is just a quick joke in a great episode but I’d definitely recommend this one for a watch and for more reasons than Burns flirting with Homer, Lisa tripping out on dental gas, and more. Seriously, “it was the best of times, it was the blurst of times” re-watching this classic. Gummy Joe also appears in “Boy-Scoutz ‘N the Hood” (S5:E8) on a package of Toothless Joe’s Gum as Bart and Milhouse go crazy Broadway stye.

“Mmmmm…. Free goo.”

So there you go friends… the origin of Gummy Joe aka Toothless Joe. What do you think of him. Did you enjoy adding his winning smile to your town? Got a good dental plan?  Sound off in the comments and happly game-slinging and bandit wrangling.

“Where’s my burrito?!?” TTFN… Wookiee out!

  4. West Coast Wookie posting at ~6:30am EDT?

Go to sleep, young man. Or, enjoy your day off.
Me, I’m doing the former – good night (from the west coast 4:20 am)

    • Thanks for the concern but I actually wrote my posts at a decent time. Alissa picks the posting times. Trust me that this fuzzball gets his appropriate sleep. The Lady Addicts can attest to this.
